대학으로 돌아온 은퇴노인의 배움 = A Study on Turd Agers Who Reregister University for Erudition

국문 초록 (Abstract)

은퇴노인(Third Agers)들은 고용과 경제적인 안정, 부양가족을 위한 책무로부터 자유롭다. 또한 그동안 감추어 왔던 야망으로서의 자기충족과 자기개발, 새로운 정체성 확립과 이에 따른 역할 수립, 새로운 생활방식과 흥미 추구 등을 위하여 시간을 즐길 수 있다. 은퇴는 그동안 신체적 및 정신적 노동을 해온 이들에게는 최상의 시간이 될 수 있으며, 일터에서 장기간 혹사해 온 건강 증진과 수명 연장을 위하여도 최상의 시기이다. 이에 그들은 학교와 같은 공식적인 교육기관과 정보망을 통한 비형식적 교육기관을 통하여 취미활동 및 개인적 관심과 다양한 욕구충족을 위하여 각자의 수준에 적합한 배움 활동에 참여하고 있다. 이 연구는 연구자의 호주 Sydney 소재 Macquarie대학 연구교수 기간(2007. 7-2008. 5)동안 동 대학의 대학원 인문과학전공에 등록한 4인의 은퇴노인 학습자 인터뷰 사례를 통하여, 그들의 대학 학습참여 동기와 대학생활 적응과정, 인간화를 위한 배움, 그리고 은퇴노인에 대한 논의와 재해석과정을 통하여 사회 구성원들의 은퇴노인에 새로운 인식변화에 기여하고자 한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Third agers who are free from the responsibility of employment, financial stability, and supporting family have enough time to do self-improvement, establish their identity, and adopt new lifestyle. They participate learning activities for all ability ranges in formal educational institution such as school or informal educational facilities such as information network. According to interviews of third agers learners which were researched by Macquarie Univ., this study shows their motivation of participation and process of adaptation for University. This study will contribute to redefine the third agers as new learners and to change public attitude about the third agers positively.
