동사구 외곽구조에 근거한 동사구 삭제와 Be/Have(조동사)구 삭제 간의 이질적인 허가 = Different Licensing between VP-deletion and Be/Have(Aux)P-deletion Based on the VP-shell Structure

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문의 출발은 생략 중에서 특히 영어 동사구 삭제의 통사적 허가가, 삭제되는 요소의 형태소적 자질을 반영해야 한다는 주장으로부터 시작되었다. 생략구문은 최소주의(minimalist) 관점에서 볼 때 접합점(interfaces)에서 완전 해석(Full Interpretation)을 받기위해 통사적으로 허가되어야 한다. 본 논문의 목적은 Lasnik(1995b)의 주장과 관련하여 영어동사가 그 종류에 따라 어휘 부에서부터 다른 형태로 도출된다는 이론 보다는 동사구 생략의 비대칭성과 관련하여 Chomsky(1993)의 어휘론적 최소주의 접근(Lexicalist-minimalistapproach)을 따르며 Chomsky(1999)의 국면(phase)과 일치(Agree) 개념을 토대로 외곽 동사구(VP-shell) 구조에서 이를 분석하고자 하였다. 본동사와 조동사 Be/Have가 동사구 삭제와 관련하여 어떻게 허가되는지를 설명하기 위하여 각각 경동사구 (υ*(υ)P)의 핵과 시제구의 핵에 [ellipt] 자질을 설정하여 동사 이동과 관련하여 살펴보았다. [ellipt] 자질은 문장구조를 만들어 갈 때 필요한 [EPP] 자질을 살펴보면서 동기화되었다. [EPP] 자질은 어떤 요소의 이동과 더불어 그 자질이 삭제되는 성질이 있는 반면에 [ellipt] 자질은 문장 성분의 삭제와 더불어 이를 허가해 줌으로써 사라지고, 어휘 동사의 경우 원형이 삭제될 때는 제자리에서 삭제되고, 굴절형태소를 취하고 있는 경우 경동사로 이동하면서 일치 전에 생략되는 것으로 분석하였다. 조동사 Be/Have의 경우 시제구의 핵에 [ellipt] 자질을 설정하여 핵에 병합되는 Be/Have 구를 삭제하는 것으로 분석하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The main purpose of this paper is to suggest different licensing between the VP-deletion and Be/Have(Aux)P-deletion, analyzing the deleted part rather than the remaining left element. The deleted parts sometimes show different morphological forms. I will argue that this aspect must be reflected in the syntactic licensing property for the VP-deletion. Bare forms of main verbs need not to move in the scope of the deletion. VP-deletion including a bare form of a main verb will occur under identity with its antecedent. While, the inflected forms of main verbs must move to the affixal light verb. The VP-deletion including an inflected form will occur under identity with its antecedent before Agree after the movement to the light verb. Be/Have as an Aux seems to originate under the Aux. The phrase including Be/Have is licensed by the functional category ``T``, rather than υ*(υ). Be/Have is derived from the lexicon as the complex of features like main verbs. The AuxP-deletion must occur after Agree under identity with the antecedent.
