기록의 파편들을 통한 춘추전국(春秋戰國)시대 송(宋)나라의 부정적 이미지 고찰 = Study on the Negative Image of the Song Dynasty in the Spring and Autumn Warring States Period through Pieces of the Relevant Records

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본고는 春秋戰國시대 宋나라에 대한 부정적 이미지의 형성 원인과 그것으로 인해 그동안 소홀히 다루었던 부분에 대해 고찰하였다. 흔히 宋나라가 周나라에게 멸망당한 商왕조의 후손이기에 희화화하거나 폄하하여 기록되었다고 판단하거나 宋나라가 戰國시대에 약소국으로 전락하면서 폄하의 대상이 되었다고 분석한다. 그러나 宋나라는 禮儀를 지킨 나라로 개국 초부터 周나라로부터 존중받았었고, 君子의 나라로 칭송받았었다. 『左傳』 등 역사기록에서 보이는 宋나라의 부정적인 기록들은 사실 春秋戰國시대 여타 제후국들에 대한 기록과 별반 차이가 없는 것이었다. 宋나라에 대한 여러 상반되는 기록과 평가가 혼재되어 있음에도 불구하고, 몇몇 부정적인 기록들이 후대 반복되어 등장하거나 成語로 굳어지면서 宋나라의 부정적 이미지가 부각된 것이다.宋나라는 農商工이 발달하고 사통팔달한 곳으로 선진 문화를 보유하고 있었다. 莊子·墨子·孟子 등 유명 사상가들은 자신의 출신지이며 활동지였던 宋나라의 이러한 지역적 특색을 최대한 활용한 寓言과 서술을 통해 자신들의 사상을 설명하였는데, 후대로 오면서 寓言과 서술에서 단어와 표현들의 풍토성이 희미해지고 보편성만이 남아 宋나라에 대한 부정적 이미지 형성에 일조하게 된 것이다. 또한 宋나라에 많았던 匠人과 달인들에 대한 이미지 역시 당시 그들에 대한 폄하의식에 기반하여 부정적인 이미지를 생성하였다. 여기에 亡國의 이미지까지 결합되면서 宋나라는 조롱과 폄하의 대상으로 여겨지게 된 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This thesis researched the reason of forming unfavorable image about the Song Dynasty and its resulting unattended portion. Commonly, it has been recognized that Song Dynasty was depreciated and caricatured as the descendants of Shang Dynasty destroyed by Zhou Dynasty or Song Dynasty reduced to a small country in the Warring States Period. However, Song Dynasty had been respected by Zhou Dynasty since its establishment as a morally decent country and it had been praised as a noble country. According to Zuozhuan, a Chinese classic history book, the unfavorable records of Song Dynasty were not significantly distinguished from the records of other countries in the times. The negative image of Song Dynasty emerged by the reintroduction and reproduction later times of its some unfavorable records, although there were mixed conflicting opinions and records about Song Dynasty.Song Dynasty retained an advanced culture and developed industries of agriculture, commerce and manufacture as a hub of trade in the times. The famous thinkers, Zhuangzi, Muzi and Mengzi born and practiced in Song Dynasty demonstrated their thoughts by fables and descriptions about geographical features of Song Dynasty. On the contrary, this might lead to assist the formation of an unfavorable images about Song Dynasty by selecting universal aspects rather than geographical characteristics in the vocabularies and expressions over later times. Moreover, the images about the masters and artisans of Song Dynasty were unfavorably established based upon the depreciation by the times. Additionally, ruinous country images about Song Dynasty were combined with the unfavorable images for Song Dynasty to be ridiculed and derogated.
