Background: This study, examines the applicability of the Lifestyle Evaluation Tool for Patients with Metabolic Syndrome (LET-PMS) questionnaire, originally developed for general population, on psychiatric patients with metabolic syndrome. Methods: The study included 320 patients diagnosed with schizophrenia spectrum disorder (N=190), bipolar spectrum disorder (N=65), and depressive disorder (N=65). They were provided assignments using 36 items from the LET-PMS questionnaire and various established scales. The evaluation encompassed psychometric properties of reliability, exploratory factor, and confirmatory factor analysis. Results: We refined the LET-PMS questionnaire by eliminating six items through a reliability test. The resultant questionnaire exhibited six factors. The overall Cronbach’s alpha value was 0.896, with factor-specific reliability coefficients ranging from 0.730 to 0.859. Based on confirmatory factor analysis of the adapted LET-PMS, the root mean square error of approximation was 0.069 (0.05-1.1). Goodness-of-fit and comparative fit indexes were 0.815 and 0.821, respectively. All 30 items met the criteria for suitable configuration. Conclusion: The LET-PMS questionnaire demonstrated robust internal consistency and sound structural validity, making it suitable for psychiatric patients with metabolic syndrome.

This study was to investigate the effects of the combined patterns of PNF(proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation) on the static balance ability by 20 subjects for 6 weeks. The combined patterns of PNF were carried out by Sprinter and Skater suggested by Dietz which were practiced once a day, 3 times a week. This study were measured normal standing, one leg left and one leg right standing when eye open and close on GOOD BALANCE system. These result lead us to the conclusion that mean velocity of X,Y direction, COP velocity moment were showed a statically decrease applying post-exercise on Normal Standing Eye Open(NSEO), Normal Standing Eye Close(NSEC), One Leg Right Standing Eye Close(OLRSEC) and Just velocity of X direction were showed a statically decrease applying post-exercise on One Leg Right Standing Eye Close(OLRSEC). The above results from this study indicated that combined patterns of PNF have improved the static balance ability. However the used self-exercise ca be applied to normal people, i.e., the exercise is difficult to apply into clinical patients. The further study should be focused at development of various modified forms of the combined patterns of PNF in keeping up the improvement effect of the exercise.

Purpose : The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of the combined patterns of PNF(proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation) on the static balance ability. Methods : The measurements of the static balance ability were completed by 10 subjects for 6 weeks, from October to November 2007. The combined patterns of PNF were carried out by means of self-exercising suggested by Dietz, which were designed as four cases: two positions (standing and quadruped) for both patterns(sprinter and skater), respectively. The exercises were practiced once a day, 3 times a week in same condition. By using the GOOD BALANCE system, assessment of the static balance ability was taken at before and after exercise from 6 positions: normal standing, one leg left and one leg right standing when eye open and close, respectively. For each case, the experimental data was obtained in 3 items: mean X speed, mean Y speed and velocity moment. Results : The results of this study were as follows : 1. There were statistically significant differences of Mean X speed, Mean Y speed and Velocity moment between the before and the after exercise in the case of normal standing when eye open and close(NSEO and NSEC), respectively. 2. There was statistically significant difference of Mean X speed between the before and the after exercise in the case of one leg left standing when eye open(OLLEO). In this case, however, the statistically significant differences were not found in both terms of Mean Y speed and Velocity moment. 3. There were statistically significant differences of Mean X speed and Mean Y speed between the before and the after exercise in the case of one leg left standing when eye close(OLLEC). In this case, however, the statistically significant difference was not found in term of Velocity moment. 4. There were statistically significant differences of Mean X speed, Mean Y speed and Velocity moment between the before and the after exercise in the case of one leg right standing when eye close(OLREC). 5. There was statistically significant difference of Mean X speed between the before and the after exercise in the case of one leg right standing when eye open(OLREO). In this case, however, the statistically significant differences were not found in both terms of Mean Y speed and Velocity moment. 6. There were statistically significant differences of total Mean X speed, total Mean Y speed and total Velocity moment between the before and the after exercise. Conclusions : The above results from this study indicated that the combined patterns of PNF have improved the static balance ability. However the used self-exercise can be applied to normal people, i.e., the exercise is difficult to apply into clinical patients. The purpose of this study was to ascertain the effects of trunk stabilization using sling on pain and dynamic balance in patients with chronic low back pain. Forty-seven subjects participated in this study, these subjects were assigned into two groups, a control group(n=23) and an experimental group(n=24). The subjects in the control group were received a conservative physical therapy and experimental group carried out the trunk stabilization using sling for 30 minutes per day, three times a week during 6 weeks. In order to evaluate the progresses of pain and dynamic balance ability, corresponding variables were measured at two times, pre and 6th week. The pain was assessed by visual analogue scale(VAS) and pressure pain threshold(PPT). The dynamic balance ability was assessed using GOOD BALANCE system. The collected data were analyzed by using SPSS and verified that each data was a normal distribution based on Kolmogorov-Smirnov Goodness-of-fit test. In order to decide the significances of the within-subjects effects and between-subjects effects of pain and dynamic balance ability were ascertained by using paired t-test and ANCOVA. In all statistical analyses, significance level was set by α=.05. The results of this study were as follows; First, VAS in the exercise group before and after the pain in the both groups showed statistically significant difference. PPT in the exercise group before and after pain in the both groups showed statistically significant difference. Second, dynamic balance ability in the exercise before and after, the results of the experimental group in APV and MLV revealed a statistically significant difference. Third, between groups before and after exercise in all items no significant differences of the group comparisons. The above results indicated that a trunk stabilization using sling exercise reduced pain and improved dynamic balance abilities in patients with chronic low back pain. However, in this study, It is difficult to generalize that trunk stabilization using sling exercise application is effective for patients with chronic low back pain. The further studies should be focused at development of various modified forms of the trunk stabilization using sling exercise in keeping up the improvement effect of this exercise.
