Purpose The purpose of this study is to optimize decision-making for military telemedicine systems, particularly in remote or combat areas where medical resources are limited. It aims to improve the level of medical welfare for soldiers by efficiently utilizing limited resources and responding actively to rapidly changing medical needs during wartime. Methods This study presents a mathematical optimization model using integer programming for remote medical scheduling and transportation vehicle allocation. Results The study provides an optimal solution for allocating telemedicine personnel, constructing communication network base stations, and determining the waiting location and number of transport means. It ensures that patients receive timely medical care within the "golden time" for optimal outcomes, considering factors like patient demand uncertainty and resource limitations. Conclusion The study concludes that the proposed optimization model and algorithm can enhance the level of medical welfare for soldiers in various units, including remote areas. It enables active responses to rapidly changing medical needs during wartime by efficiently utilizing limited resources.
Policy Suggestions through Social Perception Analysis of Defense YouTube Channels

YouTube is a platform that delivers video content on diverse topics and enables communication, making it the most utilized service for conveying knowledge and exchanging information. The Korean Army is also proactively operating official Defense YouTube channels related to the military and producing videos to promote a positive perception and instill faith in the military among the general public and soldiers. However, there is a lack of research on the current status of the content and societal perceptions of defense-related channels. To understand societal awareness, we qualitatively analyzed video content and comments. In addition, we used big data analysis methods such as keyword derivation, term frequency analysis, word cloud visualization, word association analysis, and sentiment analysis of comments based on a Korean sentiment dictionary. These analyses identify current defense channel strategies and society's awareness of these strategies and provide a foundation for improving and perfecting future video creation and operation processes.

Purpose : To evaluate the usefulness of fractal analysis for diagnosis of periodontitis. Materials and Methods : Each 30 cases of periapical films of male mandibular molar were selected in normal group and patient group which had complete furcation involvement. They were digitized at 300 dpi,256 gray levels and saved with gif format. Rectangular ROIs (10×20 pixel) were selected at furcation, interdental crest, and interdental middle 1/3 area. Fractal dimensions were calculated three times at each area by mass radius method and were determined using a mean of three measurements. We compared fractal dimensions at furcation and interdental crest area of normal group with those of patient group. And then we compared ratio of fractal dimensions at furcation area, interdental crest area to interdental middle 1/3 area. Results : Fractal dimension at interdental crest area of normal group was 1.979±0.018 and that of patient group 1.971±0.012 (p〉0.05). Fractal dimension at furcation area of normal group was 1.986±0.024 and that of patient group 1.974±0.015 (p〈 0.05). The ratio of fractal dimension at interdental crest area to interdental middle 1/3 of normal group was 1.003±0.015 and that of patient group 0.993±0.018 (p〈0.05), The ratio of fractal dimension at furcation area to interdental middle 1/3 of normal group was 1.006±0.018 and that of patient group 0.994±0.018 (p〈 0.05). Conclusion : The ratio of fractal dimension at interdental crest and furcation area to interdental middle 1/3 area showed a statistically significant difference between normal and patient group. In conclusion, it is thought that fractal analysis might be useful for the diagnosis of periodontitis.(Korean J Oral Maxillofac Radiol 2001;31:35-42)
Greedy-Based Heuristics For Authorized Stockage List (ASL) Strategy

Purpose We aim to devise simple heuristics for the Authorized Stockage List (ASL) selection problem that are well applicable in real world decision-making processes. Methods To robustly address demand uncertainty across various items, we formulate the ASL selection problem using a distribution-free approach. Results We propose greedy-based heuristics that leverage the restricted supermodularity identified in the problem. Conclusion Through computational experiments, we analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of our proposed heuristics and compare them with various benchmarks including the current ASL selection strategy deployed by the Korean Army.
