        The Effect of Aronia Berry on Type 1 Diabetes In Vivo and In Vitro

        The number of diabetic patients worldwide is increasing, and complications such as stroke and cardiovascular disease are becoming a serious cause of death. Diabetes mellitus is classified into two types according to the etiopathogenic mechanism and insulin dependence. Type 1 diabetes (T1D), an insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus, is caused by damage and destruction of pancreatic β cells that produce insulin. It is a disease that is characterized by hyperglycemia and hypoinsulinemia. Aronia berry has been used as a medicinal food in Europe. Aronia contains a variety of ingredients such as polyphenols, anthocyanins, flavonoids, and tannins. Especially, anthocyanin content in aronia berry is known to be much higher than in other plants and berries. It is known for exerting antioxidant, anti-inflammation, and anti-aging effects. Therefore, this study was conducted to investigate the effects of aronia berry extract intake in multiple low-dose streptozotocin (STZ)-induced T1D and to confirm the functional properties of aronia berry. ICR mice (6-week male) were divided into four groups: control (normal control group), STZ (100 mg/kg of STZ-induced T1D group), AR 10 (STZ with oral administration of aronia 10 mg/kg), and AR 100 (STZ with oral administration of aronia 100 mg/kg). Afterward, STZ was injected in a single dose to induce T1D, and the extract was orally administered daily. Dietary intake and body weight were measured twice a week. We confirmed that aronia berry has the effect of decreasing the increase of blood glucose level and also has the protection effect of pancreas β cell (RINm5F cell). This study confirms the anti-diabetic activity of aronia berry, and it can be expected to increase the utilization according to the results.

        다출구 덕트 유동 해석을 위한 복합 격자망 해석방법의 제안

        A numerical method has been proposed to predict 3-dimensional flow in a duct system with multiple outlets. For the duct system, it is supposed that the pressure values are given at multiple outlets while the velocity profile is given at a inlet. To maintain the continuity of pressure distribution between main and branch duct, present method allows that the pressure value taken from analysis of branch duct can be converted to the main duct analysis. The result from present method which can handle the pressure boundary condition closely coincided with that from regular method which can handle the velocity boundary condition only. Furthermore the flow distribution from present method showed good agreement with that from the single block method. From the comparison of the present method with the total pressure method used for engineering duct design, 13% of discrepancy in pressure loss was shown between the main duct inlet and the branch duct outlet.

        통일의 과제는 ‘탈사회주의’ 이다

        최선의 통일 정책은 북한의 독자적인 탈사회주의이다. 그리고 탈사회주의를 위한 제도와 정책을 헌법 에 명시해야 한다. 통일 방식으로는 오로지 급진적 통일 방식만이 통일에 대한 저항을 최소화하는 길이 다. 독일은 기대 이상의 비용을 부담하고도 동독 지역의 경제가 여전히 부진한 것은 제대로 된 탈사회 주의를 추진하기 않았기 때문이다. 통일의 경제성과는 통일로 만들어지는 역내 자유무역 지역의 확대로 인한 경제적 이점과 탈사회주의로 인한 경제성과를 합산한 것이 될 것이다. The best policy for unification should be North Korea’s self-determined desocialization. And the unification constitution should include the institutions and policies for desocialization. The only way of unification minimizing costs is fast unification. The economic performance of East Germany after unification has still been poor because Germany had not pursued real desocialization even if Germany has paid more costs than expected. The economic result of unification is the sum of economic benefits from the extension of internal free trade and economic ones from desocialization.

        Cyanidin 3-Rutinoside, an Anthocyanin Pigment of Schisandra chinensis Baill, Inhibits Allergic Inflammation

        The occurrence of allergy-mediated inflammatory diseases such as asthma and atopic dermatitis have increased, but comprehensive treatment remains difficult. Previous studies have shown that Schisandra chinensis Baill has antioxidant, antidiabetic, and antitumorigenic effects. Cyanidin 3-rutinoside (CR) is the major anthocyanin pigment of S. chinensis. However, the biological effects of CR have been rarely studied to date. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the regulatory effects of CR on phorbol-12-myristate-13-acetate (PMA)/A23187-induced allergic inflammation in vitro. CR inhibited the secretion of inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin-6 and tumor necrosis factor-α, and it also suppressed the phosphorylation of nuclear factor-kappa B. These results show that CR ameliorated PMA/A23187-induced allergic inflammation via the suppression of inflammatory cytokines in HMC-1 cells. Therefore, CR has potential as a therapeutic agent for allergic diseases.

        교육 시설 내 실감콘텐츠 구축의 학습자 맞춤형 효과와 현장수용 가능성: 교육박물관을 사례로

        The Yoon Sukyeol government aims to foster self-directed human resources to actively cope with the rapidly changing socio-economic environment after the COVID-19 pandemic by implementing the 2022 revised curriculum from the first and second graders of elementary schools in 2024 and the first graders of middle and high schools in 2025. Above all, the revision of the curriculum is significant in realizing the education tailored to learners, which has been emphasized for a long time, through digital innovation through future technology realistic contents represented by virtual reality and augmented reality at a time when the concentration of the metropolitan area leads to the crisis of extinction of non-metropolitan areas and the low birth rate and aging population are rapidly progressing. This paper examines the positive effects of constructing realistic content in regional educational facilities available for the purpose of customizing learners in the 2022 revised curriculum and the possibility of on-site acceptance in each region's educational museums as an example. To this end, we explain the purpose of customizing learners and the meaning of digital innovation policies in the 2022 revised curriculum, and examine the trends and applications of the realistic content industry in the domestic and foreign education sector in the 2020s. In addition, we will introduce domestic and international trends and utilization of realistic content in the education sector in the 2020s, and discuss ways to overcome them by citing local educational museums as examples of educational facilities along with factors that hinder the use of realistic content in the education sector. Finally, in the conclusion, we emphasize the necessity of building realistic content in educational facilities, and diagnose the effectiveness customized for learners and the possibility of contributing to field adaptability in the 2022 revised curriculum. Through this analysis, it is argued that low-cost, high-efficiency public management effects can be produced by changing the conservative attitude that investment in the education field does not show economic profitability in a short period of time if realistic content is constructed in educational facilities such as education museums. In addition, accessibility and ease can be secured only by using existing facilities without the need to establish a large-scale or large-scale material infrastructure. However, it is argued that realistic content planners should research and develop a way to organize programs in a learner-led manner as a way to avoid confusion in the classroom due to quick and accurate feedback on learners' responses and media transformation. This study emphasizes the situation of the times in which computer technology has been partially used in educational tools centered on curious infants and elementary school students, and it is necessary to build realistic content in all educational facilities in the future.

        Characteristics of Faecal Microbiota in Korean Patients with Clostridioides difficile-associated Diarrhea

        Background: The intestinal microbiota plays an important role in the pathogenesis of Clostridioides difficile-associated diarrhea, and regional and racial characteristics influence the microbiome composition and diversity. We investigated the intestinal microbiome characteristics of patients with C. difficile colitis (CD+) compared to those of patients with colitis not due to C. difficile (CD−), patients with vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE) colonization, and healthy controls, in Korea. Materials and Methods: We collected stool samples from 24, 18, 11 and 13 subjects within CD+, CD−, VRE and healthy control groups, respectively. The microbial communities were evaluated by 454-pyrosequencing of bacterial 16s rRNA. Results: The species richness and microbial diversity were significantly lower in the CD+ group compared to those in healthy controls, but not compared to those in CD− and VRE groups. Phylum-level analysis showed that the proportion of Actinobacteria in the CD+ group was significantly lower than in the healthy control, but was unchanged compared to that in CD− and VRE groups. At the genus level, compared to the healthy group, the CD+ group showed significantly lower proportions of Blautia, Bifidobacterium, Faecalibacterium et al. Compared to the VRE group, the CD+ group showed a significantly higher proportion of Anaerostipes. Conclusions: We could identify the intestinal microbiome characteristics of Koreans with C. difficile colitis. It might help to develop microbiome based diagnostic and treatment modalities.

        Historical Verification and Aesthetic Use ofComputer Graphic Technology in Faction War FilmsYongdeok Jeon Abstract: This paper examines the process of creating the effects of historical verification and storytelling by filling the reality gap, which is difficult to physically reproduce in fact war film production, with creative fiction through computer graphics technology. To this end, the researcher examines the history of reality reproduction, which has developed from the special effects of the movie industry to computer graphics, and the phenomenon that the two technologies have been integrated and operated in war movies. Next, after introducing the process in which computer graphics have developed into virtual production as the effect of war movies, the value of its use is discussed. This study adds meaning to the emphasis on the value of historical verification of war films by adding special effects and virtual production to the nature of computer graphics, which have been mainly understood as aesthetic aspects in film production. Lastly, the researcher appreciate the practical value of computer graphics actually used in that the works relied mainly on special effects based on actual image in the production process because war films that creatively reproduce historical facts give the audience a sense of faction that integrate facts and fiction.
