Many industrial products such as paints, ink and adhesives are composed of the ingredients or components of a mixture. In mixture experiments, the characteristics of quality (response) depends only on the proportions of the ingredients and does not depend on the total amount of the mixture. This article discusses the analysis of data generated from mixture experiments and finding the optimum combination of ingredients in a beverage with three components. It is shown that efficient designs can be constructed from D-optimal criterion. The development of practical experimental designs for constrained mixtures in which the responses can be described by special cubic model. The Desirability function was used for the optimization of the two different responses.

        이종성,신재훈,백진이,정지영,최병순 한국산업보건학회 2020 한국산업보건학회지 Vol.30 No.2

Objective: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD) is characterized by persistent airflow limitations associated with chronic inflammatory response due to noxious particles or gases in the lung. Increasing oxidative stress associated with COPD. The aim of this study was to evaluate the influencing factors of biomarkers for oxidative stress in retired miners with COPD. Methods: The levels of total peroxide(TPx), total antioxidant capacity(TAC), and oxidative stress index(TPx/TAC ratio, OSI) in plasma as biomarkers for oxidative stress, serum Creactive protein(CRP) as a biomarker for inflammation, and general characteristics were measured in 93 male subjects with COPD. COPD was defined as post bronchodilator FEV1/FVC<0.7 by spirometry. Results: Mean levels of TPx(p=0.013), TAC(p=0.010), OSI(p=0.040), and CRP(p=0.024) were higher in current smokers. Levels of TPx(β=0.445, p<0.001), TAC(β=0.490, p<0.001), and OSI(β=0.351, p<0.001) were related to CRP levels, and CRP levels were related to %FEV1 predicted(β=-0.295, p=0.003) and current smoking(β=0.214, p=0.032). Conclusions: These results suggest that oxidative stress was related to inflammation, and inflammation were related to decreasing %FEV1 predicted and current smoking in retired miners with COPD.

Due to the recent aircraft accidents both in Ethiopian airline and Malaysian airline, almost all the media are focusing the importance of the airline safety. Especially, media's eyes and ears are interested in the reasons why Malaysia airline's missing presumed as by either terrorist attack or pilot's mistake. Safety Behaviors of pilot are viewed as the most important human factor issues among researchers. This is because, if it were the case of a commercial airline, pilot's safety behavior would be directly related to the lives of couple of hundreds passengers. This paper considers the antecedents of this safety behaviors as pilot's leadership, pilot's leadership and self-efficacy. This paper has tried to find out which human factors of a pilot would have significant impact on their safety behaviors. According to the empirical research result from SEM (Structural Equation Model), it was found out both the leadership and self-efficacy of a pilot had direct impact on their safety behaviors through safety motivation. Thus it could be concluded that flight crew must follow the instruction of a pilot who had the authority of the flight operation. The managerial implication are discussed in the conclusion part of this paper. As an implication, this paper concluded that it would be necessary to do further research on pilot's leadership and self-efficacy.

Vol.29 No.3

Objectives: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD) is an important cause of mortality in workers exposed to hazardous dust, such as crystalline silica or coal, and COPD is related to inflammation and oxidative stress in the lung. The aim of this study was to evaluate the association of oxidative stress and inflammation to COPD in retired workers exposed to mineral dust. Methods: The levels of malondialdehyde(MDA) in EBC as biomarkers for oxidative stress and C-reactive protein(CRP) and lactate dehydrogenase(LD) as biomarkers for inflammation were measured in 107 male subjects(63 pneumoconiosis and 42 COPD subjects). Results: Mean levels of EBC MDA(2.03 nmol/L vs. 4.65 nmol/L, p=0.010) and serum LD(170.3 U/L vs. 185.9 U/L, p=0.022) were significantly higher in subjects with COPD, but mean levels of serum CRP(p=0.469) did not show a statistical difference between the study groups. Level of EBC MDA was negatively correlated with %FEV1 predicted(r=-0.279, p=0.004) and %FEV1/FVC ratio(r=-0.397, p<0.001). Conclusions: These results suggest that EBC is a useful biological matrix for investigation of respiratory oxidative stress. High levels of EBC MDA and serum LD are related to COPD in retired workers exposed to mineral dust.

광산 이직근로자의 만성폐쇄성폐질환 기류제한 중증도와 염증 및 산화스트레스

        이종성,신재훈,백진이,정지영,최병순 한국산업보건학회 2019 한국산업보건학회지 Vol.29 No.2

Objective: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD) is characterized by persistent airflow limitations associated with chronic inflammatory response due to noxious particles or gases in the lung. Inflammation and oxidative stress are associated with COPD. The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship among inflammation, oxidative stress, and airflow limitation severity in retired miners with COPD. Methods: The levels of serum high-sensitivity C-reactive protein(hsCRP) as a biomarker for inflammation, degree of reactive oxygen metabolites(dROMs) and biological antioxidants potential(BAP) in plasma as biomarkers for oxidative stress were measured in 211 male subjects with COPD. Degree of airflow limitation severity as determined by spirometry was divided into three grades grouped according to the classification of the Global Initiatives for Obstructive Lung Disease(GOLD)(1, mild; 2, moderate; 3≤, severe or more) using a fixed ratio, post- bronchodilator FEV1/FVC < 0.7. Results: Mean levels of dROMs significantly increased in relation to airflow limitation severity(GOLD 1, 317.8 U.CARR vs. GOLD 2, 320.3 U.CARR vs. GOLD 3≤, 350.9 U.CARR, p=0.047) and dROMs levels were correlated with serum hsCRP levels(r=0.514, p<0.001). Mean levels of hsCRP were higher in current smokers(non- smoker, 1.47 mg/L vs. smoker, 2.34 mg/L, p=0.006), and tended to increase with degree of airflow limitation severity(p=0.071). Mean levels of BAP were lower in current smokers(non-smoker, 1873 μmol/L vs. smoker, 1754 μmol/L, p=0.006). Conclusions: These results suggest that inflammation and oxidative stress are related to airflow limitation severity in retired miners with COPD, and there was a correlation between inflammation and oxidative stress.

        이종성,신재훈,백진이,정지영,김형근,최병순 한국산업보건학회 2019 한국산업보건학회지 Vol.29 No.1

Objective: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD) is characterized by persistent airflow limitations associated with chronic inflammatory response due to noxious particles or gases in the lung. Iron deficiency is associated with chronic inflammation, such as COPD. The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship among iron deficiency, iron homeostasis, and inflammation in retired miners with COPD. Methods: The serum levels of ferritin, soluble transferrin receptor(sTfR), and transferrin saturation(TSat) as biomarkers for iron deficiency and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein(hsCRP) as a biomarker for inflammation and hepcidin as a biomarker for iron homeostasis were measured in 93 male subjects. Iron deficiency was defined as any one or more of (1) sTfR>28.1 nmol/L, (2) TSat<16%, and (3) ferritin<12 μg/L. Results: Iron deficiency was found 28% of the study subjects. Median levels of serum hsCRP was significantly increased related to airflow limitation of COPD(GOLD 1, 0.09 ㎍/dL vs. GOLD 2, 0.17 ㎍/dL vs. GOLD 3≤, 0.30 ㎍/dL, p=0.010), and was positively correlated with hepcidin(p=0.009). Mean level of serum hepcidin was lower in COPD subjects with iron deficiency(p=0.004) and serum levels of hepcidin was negatively correlated with %FEV1 predicted(p=0.030). Conclusions: These results suggest that high serum levels of hepcidin are related to severe airflow limitation or inflammation and can decrease iron availability, regardless of iron status.
