The effects of silt and clay, water temperature and salinity on the metabolic activities: rates of respiration, filtration and nitrogen excretion in the clam, Mactra veneriformis, were investigated in ranges of $0{\sim}250ppm,\;15{\sim}25^{\circ}C\;and\;10{\sim}30\%0$ respectively. The weight specific respiration rate decreased with shell length and significantly declined at lower temperatures and lower salinity levels. Average respiration rates, filtration rates and ammonia excretion rates of the clam groups declined as water temperature was lowered. The respiration rate(R) and the filtration rate(F) decreased as the concentration of silt and clay(C) increased, the relationships between the two parameters were expressed as a regression line, R=a+b LogC and LogF=a+b LogC, respectively. On the rearing experiment treated with 50ppm of silt and clay, the relationship between the accumulative mortality(M) and the elapsed day(T) was $M=0.0186T^{2.7965}$, and the median lethal time was calculated at 16.8 days. From the rearing experiment, both rate of respiration and ammonia nitrogen excretion of experimental groups and control groups decreased with elapsed days, the rates of experimental groups, especially declined more compared with those of the control groups.

Seasonal of gen consumption of surfclam, Mactra veneriformis in Kunsan coastal area had been measured under seasonal ambient temperature condition from January to December 1994. Samples were collected monthly and divided into two groups by shell length of 2 cm (1 year class) and 3 cm (2 year class). The effects of temperature $(15,\;20\;and\;25^{\circ}C)$ and salinity $(10,\;20\;and\;30\%_{\circ})$ showed that oxygen consumption decreased with the lower temperature and salinity. Seasonal changes of oxygen consumption in surfclam varied with ambient temperature; it was showed below $0.5mg{\cdot}g^{-1}{\cdot}h^{-1}$ winter season and $1.93\~2.44\;mg{\cdot}g^{-1}{\cdot}h^{-1}$ in summer season. The difference of oxygen consumption in two groups was appeared markdly in summer season. The relationship between oxygen consumption and the seasonal ambient temperature were obtained exponential equation as $Y=e^{-1.6312+0.0879X}$ for 2 cm group and $Y=e^{-2.2366+0.0994X}$ for 3 cm group. The slop of regression line between two groups was not significant, and so there was no difference in patterns of the oxygen consumption between two groups.

Recently, nations around the world are pushing for defense reform in order to adapt to a changing security environment. Korea is not exception, implementing the defense reform called the National Defence Reform 2.0. However, the national defense reform in the past implemented by Korea has failed to achieve its purpose because it only focused on change of appearances. And unfortunately, the National Defense Reform 2.0 of Korea is similar to that of the past. As a result, military executives have a negative perception of the National Defence Reform 2.0. So, there are unstable factors in the success of the National Defence Reform 2.0. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to find the way to change the perception of military executives for success of the National Defense Reform 2.0. This study consists of four phases. Each phase in this study contains the following contents. In the first phase, a theoretical review was conducted on the National Defence Reform 2.0 in Korea and the operational reality of the army. In the second phase, an analysis on a method for a structural reform of organization and cases of other nation's defense reform is provided. In the third phase, a survey on the perception of all military executives about the National Defence Reform 2.0 and soldier reduction is presented. In the last phase, a comprehensive analysis on the way to change perception of military executives for successful national defense reform is proposed. [논문투고일
大蛤, Meretrix lusoria 의 酸素消費와 窒素排泄

The rates of filtration, retention, respiration and nitrogen excretion of a hard clam, Meretrix lusoria were measured at laboratory conditions. The weight-specific filtration, retention, oxygen consumption and nitrogen excretion rates were decreased with increase of body weight, and the ralationships were expressed by exponential equation, M/W = aW(1-b). The coefficients of regression lines were -0.5569 to -0.7517 for the filtration, -0.6185 to -0.7653 for the retention, -0.5938 to -1.0149 for the oxygen consumption and -0.3550 to -0.9894 for the nitrogen excretion rates. The rate of filtration with food concentration showed a similar pattern to that of retention, and the rates of oxygen consumption and nitrogen excretion showed a considerable difference with change of water tempterature. Most of the excreted nitrogen was in the form of ammonia, and the considerable amounts of amino-N was excreted. In general, the O:N ratios were decreased with increasing body weight. The patterns of oxygen consumption and nitrogen excretion by hard clam showed a circadian rhythms. The oxygen consumption increased from sunset to midnight and decresed from midnight to midday, and the nitrogen excretion increased in the afternoon. In the range of experimental temperature of 11 to 29°C. In the range of experimental salinity of 13 to 33‰, the oxygen consumption showed the highest at 23‰, but the nitrogen excretion rate were decreased with decreasing salinity. When starved, the oxygen consumption and nitrogen excretion were decreased, and the decreasing rate in small size was remarkable compared with that of large size. Especially, the nitrogen excretion rate was signigicantly decreased.
