In the present paper I described the relations of wood ray indicators such as ray height, ray width, number of rays per 0.25㎟, ray spacing and fusiform ray height on the stem of Pinus koraiensis and Larix leptoltpis grown at the Experiment Forest of Kangweon National University. The results may be summarized as follows. 1. The number of rays and ray spacing were generally decreased with the increase of ray height on the sample woods. 2. According to the tree species the patterns of varition of rap width with the increase of roe height were different, namely the relation between ray width and ray height showed some positive correlation on Pinns korniensis and negative on Larix leptolepis. 3. It was recognized that tire variation of fusiform ray height due to the increase of ray height indicated two patterns(the increasing and constant regions) in sampler woods. This boundary seemed to appear at six cells o ray height on Pinus koraiensis and nine cells on Larix lepolepis. 4. The relation between fusiform ray height and number of rags had a negative correlation on Pinus koraiensis, but this tendancy was not obvious on Larix leptolepis. And ray spacing and ray width due to the increase of fusiform ray height were generally decreased. 5. On the whole the values of ray spacing and width became gradually larger in proportion to the increase of number of rays. 6. According to the increase of ray spacing the values of ray width also increased gradually. But this tendency was more clear on Pinus koraiensis than larix leptolepis.

This study was carried out to compare standard design parameters with those obtained by the general equation derived from field measurements of infiltration flow. According to estimation by National Emergency Management Agency(NEMA) standard, the discharge rate from first-flush treatment was 0.8808 m3/hr, and the installation measures amount was 0.3724 m3/hr, respectively. But the discharge rate from first-flush treatment was 1.5189 m3/hr, the installation measures amount was 1.0105 m3/hr by measuring the infiltration grate inlet on-site. The above mesurements were 1.7 times and 2.7 times larger than NEMA standard, respectively. Unit degin infiltration rate was 0.2047 m3/hr, installation measures amount was 0.2567 m3/hr by calculating Seoul metropolitian standard, 0.7938 m3/hr, 0.8458 m3/hr by measuring on-site, respectively. The above mesurements on-site were 3.9 times and 3.3 times larger than Seoul metropolitian rainfall mangement standard, respectively. 본 연구는 침투형 빗물받이의 현장 실측 침투량을 근거로 이론적인 기본식에 의해 산정한 설계인 자와 기준치에서 제시한 설계인자를 비교하여 배수효과를 검토하기 위한 것이다. 소방방재청 기준에 의한 초기우수 처리량은 0.8808 m3/hr, 설치대책량은 0.3724 m3/hr 인 반면 침투형 빗물받이에 의한 현 장 측정된 초기우수 처리량은 1.5189 m3/hr, 설치대책량은 1.0105 m3/hr로 산출되어 현장 측정치가 소 방방재청 기준에 비해 각각 1.7배, 2.7배 더 많은 양을 처리할 수 있었다. 서울시 기준에 의한 단위설 계침투량이 0.2047 m3/hr, 설치대책량은 0.2567 m3/hr로 산출되며, 현장 실측에 의한 단위설계침투량은 0.7938 m3/hr, 설치대책량은 0.8458 m3/hr로 침투형 빗물받이가 서울시 기준에 비해 각각 3.9배, 3.3배 많은 것으로 나타났다.
Transcriptional regulation and development of regulatory T cells

Regulatory T (Treg) cells are a distinct subset of CD4+ T cells. Instead of triggering adaptive immunity, they suppress immune responses. Small numbers of Treg cells reside within lymphoid organs and peripheral tissues, but their contribution to immune tolerance is so significant that defects in Treg cell function cause catastrophic immune disorders. Since they were first discovered 20 years ago, efforts have been made to understand the differences in developmental processes between Treg cells and conventional T cells that determine the ultimate fate of the overall T-cell population. Transcription factor Foxp3 is crucial for Treg cell differentiation, but it is not the whole story. Owing to recent advances in Treg cell research, we are now on the verge of appreciating the comprehensive mechanisms underlying Treg cell generation. Here, we discuss major discoveries, active study topics and remaining questions regarding Treg cell development.

최근 우리군은 북한의 핵 미사일 위협에 대비하여 Kill-Chain, KAMD(Korea Air and Missile Defense)을 통한 방어체계를 구축하고 있다. 본 체계 실행의 최우선 단계는 감시정찰 자산은 무인기 및 고성능의 정찰기 등을 포함하고 있으며 이러한 자산의 효율적인 임무수행을 위해서는 무기체계 성능뿐만 아니라 이 성능을 극대화 시켜줄 효과적인 운용계획이 요구되어진다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 공중감시 체계의 레이더 탐지확률과 생존율 등의 불확실성을 포함한 최적의 임무지역 선정을 위한 확률적 최적화 수리모형을 제시한다. 아울러 본 모형을 적용한 사례연구를 통해 효과성에 대해 보여준다.
The transcription factor Batf3 inhibits the differentiation of regulatory T cells in the periphery

Naive CD4 T cells activated by antigen-presenting cells (APCs) undergo terminal differentiation in the periphery. Multiple mechanisms determine their fates, that is, whether they differentiate into conventional T (Tconv) cells or regulatory T (Treg) cells. The key event during Treg generation is expression of the transcription factor Foxp3, which is the lineage-determining regulator for Treg differentiation and function. Here we show that the transcription factor Batf3 acts as a fate-decision factor with respect to Tconv versus Tregs by restraining Treg differentiation. Batf3 was preferentially expressed in effector CD4 T cells but not in Treg cells, and ectopic expression of Batf3 inhibited Foxp3 induction. Batf3-deficient CD4 T cells favorably differentiated into Treg cells in vitro and in colonic lamina propria. Batf3 KO mice also showed enhanced Treg function in gut-associated immune disease models (for example, ovalbumin tolerance and inflammatory bowel disease models). Batf3 bound to the CNS1 region of the Foxp3 locus and reduced expression of the gene. Thus, Batf3 is a transcriptional suppressor of Treg differentiation.

Objectives. This study was to show the technique and to compare the usefulness and complications of biopsy using a mini- mal incision with a needle tip of the labial minor salivary glands with those of conventional incisional lip biopsy in the diagnosis of Sjögren’s syndrome. Methods. We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of the patients who had the labial minor salivary gland biopsy for the diagnosis of Sjögren’s syndrome between January 2005 and December 2008. One hundred forty-three pa- tients were enrolled in this study. The yields of diagnostic salivary tissues and complications of the biopsy using a minimal incision with a needle tip and the conventional incisional lip biopsy were compared. Results. Out of 143 patients, 56 patients underwent the conventional incisional lip biopsy and 87 patients received the bi- opsy using a minimal incision with a needle tip. In the biopsy using a minimal incision with a needle tip group, ade- quate salivary gland tissues were obtained in 85 patients out of 87 patients (97.7%). In the conventional incisional lip biopsy group, adequate specimens were acquired in 44 patients out of 56 patients (78.6%). There was no compli- cation after the biopsy using a minimal incision with a needle tip, whereas there was one patient complained tran- sient numbness of the lip after the conventional incisional lip biopsy. Conclusion. The less invasive labial minor salivary gland biopsy using a minimal incision with a needle tip was easy to per- form and safe and showed the better result than the conventional incisional lip biopsy in terms of the adequate speci- men in the diagnosis of Sjögren’s syndrome. So it might be a good alternative to the conventional incisional lip biopsy.
