갭 정션(gap junction)은 다양한 세포에 분포되어 있으며 분자 수준의 작은 물질들이 자유롭게 교환되는 전기적 시냅스다. 망막에서, 갭 정션의 차단이 동물의 동작 감지(motion detection)에 실제적으로 어떤 영향을 주는지에 대해서는 거의 조사되지 않았다. 본 연구에서는, 망막 세포간의 전기적 시냅스를 조절하는 약물이 금붕어의 동작 감지에 어떠한 영향을 주는지를 조사하기 위해 시각운동 반응(optometer response, OMR)이 사용되었다. 갭 정션 차단제인 carbenoxolone, 8-bromo cyclic AMP, sodium nitroprusside (SNP), 8-bromo-cyclic GMP 등의 초자체 내 주사는 광- 및 암-상태에서 모두 OMR을 감소시켰다. 광-상태에서 dopamine, SKF-38393 및 eticlopride의 주사는 OMR을 감소시킨 반면 SCH-23390의 주사는 OMR을 증가시켰다. 암-상태에서는 결과가 반대로 나타났다: 즉 dopamine, SKF-38393 및 eticlopride의 주사는 OMR을 증가시킨 반면 SCH-23390의 주사는 OMR을 감소시켰다. 이러한 결과는 망막 세포들 사이의 갭 정션이 금붕어의 동작 감지에 중요한 역할을 담당하고 있음을 시사한다.

Purpose: Ingested foreign bodies present a common clinical problem. It is well known that most of them pass uninterrupted through the gastrointestinal tract. We evaluated the role of endoscopy and Foley catheter for removal of foreign bodies in the gastrointestinal tract. Methods: We investigated retrospectively 60 cases with foreign bodies in the gastrointestinal tract. They had been treated at Wonju Christian Hospital, Yonsei University of Korea, from January, 1996 through December, 1999. Results: The age of the patients ranged from 7 months to 13 years. Patients under 5 years were 57 cases (97%) and there was no significant difference in sex (M : F=1.07 : 1). 45 cases of the patients had no symptom. The most common foreign bodies were coins (43 cases). The most common location was esophagus (31 cases). The number of foreign body removal using flexible endoscopy and Foley catheter was 22 (36.7%) and 18 (30.0%) cases, respectively. In 18 cases (30.0%), foreign bodies passed spontaneously. Only 1 case (1.7%), curtain pin impaction at ileocecal region, required surgery. Conclusion: Early foreign body removal from esophagus and stomach is recommended to lessen the morbidity and complication. Fluoroscopic foley catheter technique and flexible endoscopy for removal of esophageal foreign bodies in children is safe and effective.

More than 40 core technologies have been leaked to foreign county annually in Korea and the estimated damage is calculated from 66 to 105 billion dollar. The survey results by the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry revealed that more than 20% of companies experienced the divulgence of industrial technology. Most divulgence are committed by insiders instead of outsiders. The most desirable strategy is to prevent the leakage of industrial technology or trade secret, but it is not possible than none of them is leaked to outside or competitors. It is necessary to find out the suspects and investigate the ways of leakage as soon as possible when the divulgence of industrial technology. However, most suspects deny their activities although evidence exists. This study suggests how companies interview the suspects and provide detailed interview techniques. It also proposes that companies need to investigate resources to train cultivate special interviewers for industrial espionage.

張東蓀(1886-1973)은 중국근대의 저명한 사상가이자 정치가이다. 그는 여러 다양한 정치 및 사회활동에 참여하면서도, 지속적으로 플라톤이나 베르그송 등 서양철학자들의 저술을 번역하고 스스로의 저술 역시 발표했다. 그의 학술사상 중 가장 큰 특징은 중국과 서양 철학의 차이와 그 이유에 대해 천착해왔다는 점이다. 그 정수가 모인 것이 1946년 간행된 《知識與文化》인데, 이 책에 부록된 <從中國言語構造上看中國哲學>은 그 중에서도 특히 중국과 서양의 언어적 차이에 근거해 사고와 철학이 어떻게 달라졌는지를 미시적으로 고찰한 글이다. 그의 논증에 따르면, 서양언어에 비해 중국어는 주술구조가 박약하고, 이에 따라 주체 개념, 본체론, 범주론, 논리학의 명제가 발달하지 못했다. 하지만 이 같은 결과는 결코 중국이 저열하다는 것을 증명하는 것이 아니라 중국과 서양의 확연한 차이를 설명해 주는 것이며 양자 간의 문화적 접근과 소통이 이러한 차이에 대한 충분한 이해를 기반으로 해야 함을 말해 주는 것이다. Zhang Dongsun(1886-1973) is a well-known thinker and politician of modern China. Participating in politics and social activities, he consistantly translated many works of western philosophers, such as Plato and Bergson, etc. as well as writing his own works. His thought is characterized by his scrutinizing the difference between western philosophy and Chinese philosophy as well as its reason. In 1946 he compiled his best works into a book, i.e., Knowledge & Culture. Especially, a part of the book ‘Congzhongguoyuyangouzaoshangkanzhongguozhexue’(A Study on Chinese Philosophy Through Chinese Language) microscopically investigates how philosophy and thought differ on the basis of the linguistic difference between Western languages and Chinese. According to his claim, Chinese, compared with western languages, differs in that neither Subject nor Predicate is not an essential structural component. Consequently the concepts of subject, ontology, theory of category, and propositions of logic are not developed enough. This result does not mean that Chinese is linguistically or structurally inferior to western languages, but explains that there is only a big difference in Western countries and China, among which a cultural approach and communication should be based on understanding this difference.

In general, the mythical creature known in Korean as a Haetae, which places in front of the Kwanhwamun (or Kwanghwa Gate) square in Seoul, used to represent a sacred symbol of preventing fires from occurring. Yet, the stone statue of Haetae, which was erected in front of the Gyeongbok Palace, was installed to draw a boundary of the palace and protect the palace as a symbol of guard from evil spirits. The problem that I attempt to raise here is that whereas Haetae as a sacred animal was introduced from China, the way in which it was understood and adopted was different in Korea in its features and characters. In China, Haetae(Xiezhi) has a ability to discern truth, so that it brings justice to the people, but it has nothing to do with drawing boundary and protecting the palace. This paper in a diachronic and logical manner argues that the form of Haetae, which is in front of the Kwanghwamun, is derived from a amalgam of various animals, such as lion, dog, and sheep.
