The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship and effects among chronic regulatory focus, commitment to career choice and self-leadership in university students majored in early childhood education. The finding of this study are as follows. First, promotion focus was found to be positively correlated with commitment, exploration in commitment to career choice but negatively correlated with selection conflicts. Prevention focus was found to be negatively correlated with commitment, exploration but positively correlated with selection conflicts. Promotion focus is associated with exploration and commitment, and prevention focus is associated with conflict of selecting one`s career. Second, promotion focus effects to self-leadership and commitment to career choice by .453 but prevention focus effects to them by .029. It means that promotion focus is more effected with self-leadership and commitment to career choice than prevention focus in various ways. The research suggests that Pre-service early childhood teacher pay more attention to developing their promotion and self-leadership because early childhood teacher affects their students much in their cognition, emotion, and so on.
