When World Was Ⅱ came to an end in 1945, Ye Kwang-soo fell into a dilemma of being criticised as a pro-japaness. In spite of this criticism he endeavored to reconstruct nationallism and to resurrect humanism, with a firm belief of Jacob in Genesis who had slept upon " a stone pillow". How A Stone Pillow is a collection of essays with the theme of nationalism and humanism. Meanwhile, Ye Kwand-Soo was repentant of what he had done in the Japanise rule and wrote a historical novol, A Dream, with much regret. But by the passage of Anti-Nationalist Punishment Law with the organization of the government of the Republic of Korea, he was imprisoned. Fortunately, he became released due to disposition not to institute a public action of the Law and he wrote another historical novel, King Dongmyong of Love, using the materials of the King, the founder of Kokooryo Kingdom. In this novel Ye showed a way which the new-born Republic should go. The stbjects treated in this novel are King Dong-myong's love of woman, his love of his people, and his idea of national identity. Ye was kidnapped to North Korea in 1950 when the Korean War broke out. His works written after 1945 can be grouped into the fourth period of his literature.

승모판막 치환술후 조기사망의 술전 및 술중 위험인자에 대한 임상적 고찰

To improve the prognosis of mitral valve replacement surgery, analysis and evaluation of pre and intra operative risk factors will be very much valuable. Author studied 205 cases of mitral valve replacement from Feb 1982 to June 1989 for the risk factors of hospital death. 90 patients were male and 115 were female, and age was from 16 to 59 years, Mitral stenosis dominant lesions were 91 cases and regurgitation 114. Suspected risk factors were NYHA functional class, cardiothoracic ratio, implanted valve type and size, operation time, age and sex, thrombus in left atrium, atrial fibrillation, aortic cross clamping time, left ventricular end diastolic and systolic dimension, nephropathy, hepatopathy and respiratory insufficiency. Statistic analysis was performed by X2 test between survivors and death group. Statistical significances as pre and intraoperative risk factors of hospital death after mitral valve replacement were confirmed in those presence of AF on the EKG, NYHA functional class[>IV], cardiothoracic ratio[>70%], and implanted valve size[>33mm]

Schwannomas are rare and distinctive nerve sheath tumors. They occur commonly along the course of central and peripheral nerves, especially on the skin of the head, neck and extremities. Histologically, they are characterized by Antoni A and Antoni B tissues of high and low cellularity. 2 cases of intrapulmonary Schwannomas were reported worldwide by 1980. We report a case of twenty seven-year-old male patient with intrapulmonary Schwannoma, who had multiple nodules on the skin of the both upper extremities and scrotum with their characteristic findings.
