The skin is an important body barrier composed of the epidermis, dermis, and subcutaneous fat layer, and it protects the body from external foreign substances or stimuli and maintains moisture. The skin gradually ages due to internal and external factors, and ultraviolet rays, reactive oxygen species, and dryness are the main causes of skin aging. In order to improve this skin aging, various functional cosmetics are being developed, and these mainly include various natural products and compounds with effects such as antioxidant, whitening, wrinkle improvement, and antibacterial. Recently, as the safety and effectiveness evaluation of cosmetic materials has become important, various evaluation methods have been introduced to confirm skin compatibility and efficacy. Accordingly, this paper focuses on the mechanisms related to skin aging and the efficacy of functional cosmetics, and aims to present evaluation methods for the development of safe and effective cosmetics.

Fe-Ni, Co-Fe-Ni 소결체의 미끄럼 마찰 및 마멸거동

Dry sliding wear behavior of electro-pressure sintered Fe-Ni and Co-Fe-Ni compacts was investigated. Pin-on-disk wear tests were performed on the sintered Fe-Ni, Co-Fe-Ni disk specimens against alumina $(Al_2O_3)$ and silica $(SiO_2)$ ball counterparts at various loads ranging from 3N to 12N. A constant sliding speed of 0.1m/sec was employed. Wear rate was calculated by dividing the weight loss measured after the test by specific gravity and sliding distance. Worn surfaces and cross sections of them were examined by a scanning electron microscopy, and wear mechanism of the compacts was investigated. Wear characteristics of the compacts were discussed as a function of composition of the compacts. Relationship between the wear rate and mechancial properties of the compact was explored, and effects of the oxide layer that was formed on wearing surface of the compacts on the wear were also studied.
편백(Chamaecyparis obtusa (Siebold & Zucc.) Endl.) 잎 분획물의 항염증 효과

In this study, to evaluate the possibility of utilizing Chamaecyparis obtusa (Siebold & Zucc.) Endl. (C. obtusa) leaf fractions as anti-inflammatory functional materials, C. obtusa extract extracted with 99% ethanol (CO99EL) was fractionated with hexane (CO99EL-H), chloroform (CO99EL-C), ethyl acetate (CO99EL-E), butanol (CO99EL-B) and distilled water (CO99EL-W). The anti-inflammatory effects of each fraction was performed using lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced RAW264.7 mouse macrophages. Cytotoxicity was highest in CO99EL-H and CO99EL-C and lowest in CO99EL-W. Interestingly, LPS-induced iNOS expression and NO production were significantly reduced by CO99EL-H and CO99EL-E, and COX-2 expression was significantly reduced by CO99EL-B and CO99EL-W. In addition, interleukin (IL)-1β, an inflammatory cytokine increased by LPS, was significantly reduced by CO99EL-C, CO99EL-E, CO99EL-B and CO99EL-W, and IL-6 was significantly reduced by CO99EL-B and CO99EL-W. Therefore, the janus kinase (JAK)/signaling transducer and activator of transcription (STAT) signaling pathway activated by LPS was significantly reduced by CO99EL-H and CO99EL-C, and the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathway was slightly reduced by CO99EL-H and CO99EL-C. However, nuclear factor (NF)-κB activity was not reduced by any fractions. Based on the results of this study, it was confirmed that CO99EL fractions have different anti-inflammatory mechanisms depending on the solvent used for fractionation.
일측 서혜탈장 환아에서 반대측 서혜탈장 발생에 대한 임상적 연구

Contralateral exploration in children with unilateral inguinal hernia is controversial. This study was done to identify risk factors for the development of contralateral inguinal hernia in patients with unilateral inguinal hernia. The clinical experience of 4,206 inguinal hernias repaired by one pediatric surgeon on 3,358 children at HanYang University Hospital from September 1979 to December 2002 was analyzed. 1,868 (55.6%) hernias occurred on right side, 1,190 (35.4%) on left side, and 300 (8.9%) were bilateral. 2,702 children were boys and 656 were girls (M:F = 4.1:1). 170 children of 3,058 children with unilateral hernias (5.6%) developed contralateral inguinal hernia at 1 day to 95 months after herniotomy. 146 children were boys and 24 were girls (M:F = 6.1:1). The patients who had had herniotomy before 1 year of age developed contralateral hernia in 17.4%, compared with 5.6% overall average. The earlier the first herniotomy was performed, the more frequently contralateral hernia developed. The occurrence of contralateral inguinal hernia was more frequent in boys (146 of 2,460, 5.9%) than girls (24 of 598, 4.0%) and more frequent after left herniotomy (80 of 1,190, 6.7%) than after right herniotomy (90 of 1,868, 4.8%), but statistically not significant. 52.9% of contralateral inguinal hernia developed within 1 year after hernia repair, and 87.6% developed within 3 years. Routine exploration on contralateral side in children is not necessary.
대규모 조합문제를 해결하기 위한 효율적인 논리함수 처리 시스템의 개발과 순서회로 설계에의 응용

Many studies on internal data expression to process logic functions efficiently on computer have been doing actively. In this paper, we propose an efficient logic function manipulation system made on the Objected-Oriented manner, where Binary Decision Diagrams(BDD's) are adopted for internal data espressionof logic functions. Thus it is easy to make BDD's presenting combinational problems. Also, we propose a method of applying filtering function for reducing the size of BDD's instead of attributed bits, and add it to the mainpultion system. As a resutls, the space of address is expanded so that the number of node that can be used in the mainpulation system is increased up to 2/sup 27/. Finally, we apply the implemented system to One-Shot state assignment problems of asynchronous sequential circuits and show that it is efficient for the filtering method to reduce the size of BDD's.

인간에게 있어 충분한 수면은 필수적인 것이지만, 현대 사회의 사람들은 부족한 수면, 불규칙한 수면 습관 등으로 인해 수면 장애를 겪고 있다. 하지만 수면 장애 여부를 판단하기 위해 실시하는 수면다원검사는 비용과 시간 문제, 낯선 환경에서 수면을 취해야 한다는 점, 몸에 센서들을 부착하여 수면을 방해하는 점 등의 문제들이 있어 선뜻 검사 받기 쉽지 않다. 본 논문에서는 수면 중 발생하는 소리 신호를 녹음하고, 소리 신호를 분석함으로써 수면 중 특이 사항을 찾아내거나 수면 습관을 분석하는 과거 연구들을 조사한다. 수면 중 소리 신호를 이용하는 분석 방법은 비용이 저렴하고, 일반 가정에서도 분석이 가능하며, 몸에 센서를 부착하지 않아 피실험자의 수면을 방해하지 않기 때문에 자연스러운 수면 상태에서 분석이 가능하다. 그래서 소리 신호를 이용하여 수면 습관을 분석하는 연구가 많이 진행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 수면 중 소리 신호를 이용한 기존의 수면 분석 방법의 일반적인 구조를 소개하고, 각 연구에서 사용하는 분석 기법들과 특징값 선택 방법 등에 대해 조사하고, 추후 수면 분석을 하는 연구자들에게 고려해야 할 점들이 무엇인지 알아본다.
