Catalytic Graphitization Behavior of Mesophase Pitch-Based Carbon Fibers
Vol.2019 No.1
Carbon Fibers from Low-density Polyethylene Using a Hybrid Stabilization Technique
Vol.2019 No.0
In this study, a manufacturing method of LDPE-based carbon fibers was studied using a hybrid stabilization technique. The LDPE precursor fibers were primarily cross-linked with the various conditions, and then they have stabilized again in the sulfuric acid under 100oC. The hybrid-stabilized fibers were carbonized at a temperature of 900°C. The thermal properties of hybrid-stabilized fibers were analyzed by a DSC and a TGA. The surface morphology, microstructure, and physical properties of the resulting carbon fibers were analyzed by SEM, XRD, and UTM, respectively. From the SEM, XRD, and mechanical strength test results, final fibers were identified as well-manufactured carbon fibers.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to identify the doctor-patient relationship perceived by doctors in clinical settings and the effect of doctor-patient relationships on treatment schemes. A qualitative case study was conducted for this purpose. Methods: In-depth interviews were conducted with five oriental medicine doctors and doctors working in clinical settings using a semi-structured questionnaire. Transcription and coding were performed to analyze the data. By analyzing each case individually through within-case analysis, we attempted to find themes that emerged from the research subjects’ experiences with establishing relationships with patients. Afterward, a cross-case analysis was conducted to identify the meaning of the experiences through commonalities and differences. Results: Within-case analysis confirmed the thoughts and emotions of the research participants in recognizing, defining, and participating in doctor-patient relationships while delivering treatments. Case-to-case analysis derived two themes, seven categories, and 20 meaningful units for doctor-patient relationships. Conclusions: The study found that a doctor-patient relationship regarding patient treatment could be established based on the doctor’s ‘professional qualifications’ and ‘human qualities’. In the future, it is necessary to present an educational model for relationship-based intervention techniques and personality maturity. Follow-up research should be conducted to enable the establishment of therapeutic relationships between doctors and patients.

This paper analyzes the history and legal nature of martial law in the early Republic of Korea, focusing on how state violence was institutionalized and legally justified in the absence of formal martial law statutes. In particular, it examines the historical and legal essence of martial law against the backdrop of the failed attempt at a self-coup following the declaration of emergency martial law on December 3, 2024, which has sparked active debates on the unconstitutionality and illegality of martial law and emergency powers. The study begins with an analysis of martial law during the U.S. military government’s 1946 ‘October Uprising’, the ‘Yeosu-Suncheon Incident’, and the ‘Jeju 4·3 Incident’, exploring the process through which martial law legislation emerged and its legal and political implications. Additionally, it investigates the interaction between presidential emergency orders and martial law during the Korean War, shedding light on how emergency powers facilitated large-scale civilian massacres and internal violence. This paper argues that martial law was not merely an emergency measure but a tool for legally legitimizing and institutionalizing state violence. Using the December 3 emergency martial law declaration as a reference point, it highlights the need for legal and institutional reforms to address the fundamental flaws of emergency powers. Finally, the study reflects on the historical lessons of martial law and state violence while exploring pathways toward a system that upholds democracy and human rights.
