An experimental study of a reliable IoT gateway

The Internet of Things (IoT) will include new devices specifically designed for IoT compatibility and systems that are already in place today and operate outside of IoT networks. However, the path to creating cloud networks of interconnected devices requires a means for devices that are not IP-based to connect without having to bear the cost of a full Ethernet or WiFi interface with the accompanying protocol stack. This can be achieved through the use of IoT gateways that bridge these devices to the Internet in the context of real-world applications. In this paper, we introduce an experimental study of a reliable and self-configurable IoT gateway that is developed in a laboratory testbed by using the IoTivity framework.

루이비통(Louis Vuitton) 콜라보레이션(Collaboration)디자인에 나타난 모노그램의 조형 특성

Companies in contemporary of the 21st century seek after globalization and produce products in response to diverse consumer needs at the same time. Specifically, Louis Vuitton, which is a high fashion brand, has attracted attention in collaboration with artists. The purpose of this study was designed first to generally examine Louis Vuitton's monogram bags, the examples of monogram bags shown through collaboration, and then to derive their formative characteristics . Unlike other brands, the reason for selection of Louis Vuitton's monogram bags is due to boosting its own brand value through re-creation tasks suitable for these days while maintaining the instrinsic value in collaboration with artists. Through such a collaboration Louis Vuitton's monogram bags are giving us a pleasure due to surprise and unexpectedness by converting the ideas such as bag texture, color changes of the logo, pattern changes, etc. using the sensibility of the artist. The unlimited possibility was presented in new perspectives and the creation and transformation of different forms by overlapping with logo of traditional monogram bags and ideas of artist. Furthermore, this brand has created diverse and exotic elements through collaboration with the artists from different countries. Such a collaboration with artists has enabled the high brand to be sublimated into an art brand that communicates with consumers. The findings of the study are expected to make a contribution to the upbringing of domestic brand equipped with competitiveness that reflects the contemporary sensibilities while maintaining an identity. 21세기 현대사회의 기업들은 글로벌화와 더불어 소비자가 원하는 다양한 욕구를 반영하는 제품을 만들어 가고 있다. 그 중 하이패션(High Fashion) 브랜드인 루이비통(Louis Vuitton)은 예술가와 콜라보레이션을 하여 주목을 받고 있다. 본 연구는 루이비통의 모노그램 백에 관한 일반적 고찰을 선행 한 후 , 콜라보레이션에 나타난 모노그램 백의사례를 살펴보고 그에 따른 조형 특성을 도출하고자 하였다. 루이비통의 모노그램 백을 선정한 이유는 다른 브랜드와다르게 예술가와 콜라보레이션을 하여 본질적인 가치는 유지하면서 요즘 시대에 맞는 재창조 작업으로 브랜드의 가치를 높이고 있기 때문이다. 이러한 콜라보레이션을 통해 루이비통 모노그램 백은 예술가의 감성을 활용한 백의 질감, 로고의 색상 변화, 패턴변화 등 발상을 전환시킴으로써 놀라움과 의외성으로 인해 즐거움을 주고 있다. 전통적인 모노그램 백의 로고와 예술가의 사상이 중첩되어 새로운 시각과 다양한 형태 창조와 변형에 무한한 가능성을 제시하였다. 또한 각기 다른 나라의 예술가와 콜라보레이션을 하여 다양하면서 이국적인 요소를 나타내고 있다. 이러한 예술가와의콜라보레이션 작업은 하이 브랜드에서 소비자와 소통하는 아트 브랜드로 승화되었다. 본 연구에서 얻어진 결과를 토대로 아이덴티티를 유지하면서 동 시대의 감성을 반영하는 국내브랜드 개발에 도움이 되기를 기대해 본다.

뉴미디어 표현 방법이 활용된 Moritz Waldemeyer의 패션디자인의 조형 특성 연구

The development of the media, affected the whole of human life, is allowed to change the method ofexpressing art and also fashion design. As things that were not possible before, they became possible dueto the New Media, thus the expression of fashion design has became more abundant. The general researchrelated to new media has been preceded, and then selecting Moriz Waldemeyer as the subject to draw theFormative Characteristics of fashion design utilizing New Media. The reasons why he was selected are asfollows: First, he made lots of influential works through collaboration with renowned designers or alone. Second, there were many studies focusing on fashion designer about New Media fashion design, whereasno studies focusing on Wademeyer who made it possible for their design. He presents numerous designsusing New Media in various fields such as product, installation and so on without boundaries of genre, heeffectively uses uncomplicated technology and simple device such as LED, Laser, servo motor etc. Throughthe analysis of his fashion design, the following formative characteristics were drawn: ‘Luminance of theSurface’, ‘Variability of the Form’ and ‘Expandability of Space’. Using light source device, light has becomean important element of the design, through driving devices, clothes can be changeable and by straightemission of Laser beam, the space is no longer closed, it has become expandable space. Using new mediacan be worth when concept of artist is realized while technical representation is well harmonized with artisticsense. The significance of this study is understanding the influence of New Media on fashion design andcurrent flow and enabling new and creative approach to future fashion design. 매체의 발달은 인류 삶의 전반에 영향을 주었듯이, 예술의 표현 방법을 변화시켰고, 패션디자인에도 영향을 주었다. 뉴미디어로 인해 불가능했던 것들이 가능해지면서 패션디자인의 표현 방법도 풍부해진 것이다. 본 연구는 모리츠 발데마이어를 연구 대상으로 선정하여 뉴미디어의 일반적 고찰을 선행한 후, 디자이너 뉴미디어 패션의 조형 특성을 도출하고자 하였다. 그를 선정한 이유는 첫째, 유명 디자이너와 협업 또는 단독으로 패션디자인계에 반향을 일으키는 여러 인상적인 작품을 선보였고, 둘째로 뉴미디어를 활용한 패션디자이너에 대한 연구는 많았으나, 그들의 디자인을 가능하게 만든 발데마이어를 중심으로 하는 연구가 부재하기 때문이다. 발데마이어는 제품, 설치 등 장르의 경계 없이 여러 분야에서 뉴미디어를 활용한 작업을 선보였고, 패션디자인 분야에서도 LED, Laser, 서보모터 등의 기술과 간단한 장치들을 효율적으로 활용하고 있다. 이러한 그의 작업 분석을 통해 사용된 뉴미디어 장치에 의해 ‘표면의 발광성’, ‘형태의 가변성’,‘공간의 확장성’을 조형 특성으로 도출하였다. 광원장치를 통해 빛을 디자인의 중요한 요소로 활용하였고, 구동장치로의상을 자동으로 변화 가능하게 하였다. 또한 레이저가 공간으로 뻗어나가는 것을 이용하여, 기존의 닫힌 공간을 열린공간으로 공간의 개념을 확장하였다. 뉴미디어의 활용은 기술적 표현이 예술적 감각과 균형 있게 조화를 이루면서 작가의 컨셉이 구현될 때 그 의미가 있다고 할 수 있다. 이러한 그의 작업을 통해 뉴미디어가 현재 패션에 미치는 영향력과 그흐름을 이해하고, 향후 패션디자인에 새롭고 창의적인 접근을 가능하게 하는데 본 연구의 의의가 있다.

심상시점(心像視點)에서 본 한국 전통 자수병풍(刺繡屛風)의 조형특성 연구-조선시대 작품을 중심으로-

우리나라 전통자수는 귀족사회부터 서민층에 이르기까지 의복 및 생활용품에 폭넓게 활용되어져 왔다. 이는 실용성과 심미성을 두루 갖춘 전통문화 중 하나로서, 그 공예적 기법과 미적 조형감각은 한국적 미의식에 대한 특성이 잘 반영된 것이라 여겨진다. 그 중에서도 특히 민화발달과 그 맥락을 함께 한 조선시대 자수병풍은 당시대인들의 감성, 정서, 기복신앙 등이 내재된 ‘소망(所望) 회화’로서 그 독창적 조형성이 강하게 표출된 작품이라 할 수 있다. 이에 본 연구는 한국자수박물관에 보관된 조선시대 자수병풍의 실물을 민화의 회화적 요소를 차용하여 고찰 및 분석하였다. 여기서 구도에 관해 ‘심상시점(心像視點)’을 도입함으로써 자수병풍을 보다 다양한 측면에서 살펴보고, 이에 내재된 조형정신, 조형원리, 표출미를 도출하고자 하였다. 구도적 조형특징은 대상의 대소비례 무시, 공간의 상하비례무시, 시점의 일원화 무시, 표현의 상례적 이탈, 주제이미지의 복합성, 색채의 대비효과 및 화면의 평면화, 시간의 연속성과 동시성 등 7가지로 나타났다. 또한 자수병풍의 종합적 조형특성에서, 그 조형정신으로는 기복, 현세복락, 장수성, 벽사성, 길상 등이 있었으며, 이는 화조(花鳥), 십장생(十長生) 등의 문양과 오방색을 통해 화려함과 장식미를 표출하였다. 조형원리로는 기능성과 더불어 실용적, 장식적 공간구성이 공통적으로 도출되었다. 이러한 조형특성은 다양한 현대적 해석이 가능하다고 판단되며 본 연구의 결과가 현대패션 디자인에 유용한 자료로서 뿐만이 아니라 글로벌 패션 트렌드에 맞는 전통 자수의 한국적 조형특성으로서 활용될 수 있을 것이라 사료된다. The traditional embroidery of Korea had been extensively applied in various fields including clothing and daily necessities by from the upper class to the public. As one of traditional cultures with practicality and aesthetics, the craft skills and aesthetic sense of formation of embroidery reflected the Korean aesthetics well. Especially along with the development of folk painting, the embroidered folding screen of Joseon period strongly expressed the unique figurative features as the 'painting of wish' containing emotion, impression and faith for blessing of those who lived in Joseon period. Thus, this paper investigated and analyzed the embroidered folding screens of Joseon period kept in Museum of Korean Embroidery as adopting the pictorial elements of folk painting. The embroidered folding screen was analyzed in various aspects by introducing 'imaginal perspective' into the composition. Moreover, this paper aimed to identify the spirit, principle and expressive aesthetics of formation. The compositional figurative features were identified as 7 kinds; ignorance on the proportion of big and small object; ignorance of the proportion of top and bottom in a space; ignorance on the unification of viewpoint; ordinary deviation of expression; combination of thematic images; contrast effect of colors and plane screen; continuity and simultaneity of time. In the general figurative features of embroidered folding screen, the spirit of formation includes faith for blessing, good luck and pleasure in this world, longevity, driving away evil spirits and lucky sign. Those spirits expressed magnificence and decorative beauty using patters and five colors, including flowers, birds and ten longevity symbols. As the principle of formation, practical and decorative space configuration as well as functionality were identified. The figurative features above can be interpreted into a variety of modern meanings. The analysis results in this paper will be the useful data for the modern fashion design and can be used as the Korean figurative features of traditional embroidery which can be harmonized with global fashion trends.

A deep-learning-based emergency alert system

Emergency alert systems serve as a critical link in the chain of crisis communication, and they are essential to minimize loss during emergencies. Acts of terrorism and violence, chemical spills, amber alerts, nuclear facility problems, weather-related emergencies, flu pandemics, and other emergencies all require those responsible such as government officials, building managers, and university administrators to be able to quickly and reliably distribute emergency information to the public. This paper presents our design of a deep-learning-based emergency warning system. The proposed system is considered suitable for application in existing infrastructure such as closed-circuit television and other monitoring devices. The experimental results show that in most cases, our system immediately detects emergencies such as car accidents and natural disasters.

꾸뛰리에 찰스제임스의 패션 조형창출 사례연구

A famous American couturier Charles James(1906~1978) of the 20th century is known as a master of clothing construction. Charles James contributed greatly to the fashion development, touching and inspiring his contemporary representative fashion designers such as Paul Poiret and Christian Dior. Paul Poiret, who saw the first Paris show of James in 1937, put a high valuation on him complimenting that the achievements James made with a pair of sewing scissors was what he achieved with colors. And Christian Dior said his new look had been inspired by Charles James. Also in 2010, John Galliano, a head designer of Dior, said the S/S collection of the year had been inspired by the work of Charles James. Like this, the design of Charles James continues to be highly valued, but in Korea, his name recognition is low and there are not much the study on him. This study aims at seeking for creative solution of design development and the design production method for creating high added value by analyzing the mode of expression for James' dress from the clothing construction perspective and examining the case of shape creation and its value. The object of analysis for the study is one of the dresses in his hey day(mid 1940's ~ 1958) and it was selected because it could be analyzed from the clothing construction perspective. And main research materials are his collection and other materials in the museum which has his works. The conclusions of the case study of dress form creation of Charles James are listed below; creation of new body form, innovation of diversified 3-dimensional draping, formation of motif from nature, and maximization of color-used composition effect. I want to shed new light on the worth of new clothing production method through the works of Charles James, a master of clothing construction. 20세기, 미국의 유명 꾸뛰리에인 찰스제임스(Charles James, 1906~1978)는 의복구성의 대가로 알려져 있다. 찰스제임스는 폴 푸아레와 크리스챤 디올(Christian Dior) 등 동시대의 대표적인 의상디자이너에게 감동과 영감을 주며 패션의 발달에 크게 기여한 인물이다. 1937년 제임스의 첫 번째 파리쇼를 접한 폴푸아레(Paul poiret) 는 자신이 ‘색채’로 이룬 일을 제임스는 ‘재봉가위’로 이루어낸다고 칭송하며 그의 가치를 높이 평가하였으며, 크리스챤 디올은 그의 뉴룩(New look) 을 찰스제임스에게서 영감을 받았다고 하였다. 2010년, 디올의 수석 디자이너였던 존갈리아노(John Galiano) 는 그해 S/S 컬렉션의 영감을 찰스제임스의 작품에서 받았다. 이처럼 찰스제임스의 디자인에 대한 가치는 지속적으로 평가되고 있지만 국내에서는 그에 대한 인지도가 낮고 연구가 미비한 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구는 찰스제임스 드레스 작품의 표현양식을 의복구성적 관점에서 분석하고 창작조형 창출 방법을 살펴봄으로써 고부가가치 창출을 위한 창의적 디자인과 작품제작방법을 모색하는데 그 목적이 있다. 연구를 위한 작품 분석의 대상은 찰스제임스의 전성기(1940년대 중반~ 1958년)의 것으로서 의복구성적 관점에서 분석이 가능한 드레스로 정하였다. 자료는 찰스제임스의 작품집과 그의 작품이 소장 되어있는 박물관의 자료를 주자료로 하였다. 연구의 결과로 도출 된 찰스제임스 드레스의 조형창출 사례는 새로운 바디 모형 창출을 통한 다각화된 3차원적 입체재단의 혁신, 자연에서 얻은 모티브의 형상화, 색채를 활용한 구성효과의 극대화 등으로 분석되었다. 본 연구는 의복구성의 거장인 찰스제임스의 작품을 통하여 창의적 의상제작 방법의 가치를 재조명 하는 데에 의의를 두고자 한다.
