This study was conducted to investigate how agronomic characters are affected by climatic factors and to determine how soybean genotypes differ in the responses. Seventeen soybean varieties selected for regional trial test were studied at six locations of Korea, 1999. There were wide climatic effects in seed yield and 100-seeds weight. The 100-seeds weight environment was characterized by growth duration and amount of precipitation whereas the other characters were not distinguished well. In correlation coefficient, 100-seeds weight showed that all varieties responded positively to growth duration but they responded negatively to rainfall. Environmental variations in 100-seeds weight and seed yield were larger than genetic variation. But genotypes also may greatly differ in degree of sensitivity to each climatic variable. It indicates that growth and development of soybean is affected by interaction between genotypes and climatic factors.
