This study was investigated the changes of root length, tissue structure of root tip, and dry matter production of a Dongjinbyeo (DJ) cultivar subjected to 0.4 % agar medium with various concentration of NaCl (salt stress)- and polyethylene glycol 6000 (PEG, drought stress). Root length and dry weight of DJ plant were declined along the high concentration of PEG and NaCl in rice plants. To elucidate the changes of tissue structure in root tip to PEG- and NaCl-treatments, we examined the microscopic observation of root tip in NaCl- and PEG-treated rice plants using Toluidine blue O. By Toluidine blue O staining, methyl-lignin accumulation was found in the epidermis and outer cortex of the elongation zone at an early stage of PEG treatment, whereas was found only the outer cortex of the elongation zone of NaCl-treated root tip. The epidermis of NaCl-treated root tip became soften instead of methyl-lignin accumulation. TR ratio was increased along the high concentration in PEG- and NaCl-treated rice plant as a result of inhibited root elongation under PEG- and NaCl-treatment. From these morphological changes in root stimulated by drought and salt stress, we suggest that agar medium is useful to identify tolerant variety in germination stage under stressful environments.

일반 비직교 표면좌표계에서의 비압축성 Navier-Stokes방정식의 수치해석

In this paper, a numerical procedure for the calculation of the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations in a generalized nonorthogonal body fitted coordinate system is proposed and is validated through three test problems. Present numerical procedure derives the pressure equation by using the pressure substitution method on the regular grid system, and discretized momentum equations are based on the covariant velocity components. Cavity flow, backward facing step flow, and two dimensional channel flow with a sinusoidal wavy wall are chosen as three test problems. Numerical solutions obtained by present procedure shows a good agreement with previous numerical and/or experimental results. Convergence rate is also satisfactory.
다이나로그 파일을 이용한 부피세기조절회전치료의 정도관리

본 연구에서는 미국의학물리학회 TG-119 보고서를 통해 본 원에 도입된 다이나로그 파일을 이용한 정도관리 소프트웨어(MobiusFx, MFX)로 부피세기조절회전치료의 정도관리를 시행하였다. 본 원의 치료계획장치를 이용해서 각각의 치료계획을 수립하였고, 절대선량은 표적 및 위험장기에서 전리함을 이용해 측정하였으며, 상대선량분포는 반도체검출기배열(Delta4PT)과 정도관리 소프트웨어(MFX)를 사용하여 측정하였다. 절대선량 평가에서 점 선량을 측정하였다. 표적과 위험장기에서 평균 선량 오차율은 각각 1.41±0.92%, 0.89±0.86%였다. 점 선량 평가의 신뢰도를 나타내는 95% 신뢰한계는 각각 표적에서 3.21(96.79%), 위험장기에서 2.58(97.42%)로, 보고서에서 제시한 허용기준인 표적에서 4.5(95.50%), 위험장기에서 4.7(95.30%) 이내에 모두 만족하였다. 상대선량 평가는 선량 분포를 이용하여 감마지표 분석법으로 분석하였다. 정도관리 소프트웨어와 반도체검출기배열의 평균 감마지표 통과율은 3%/3 ㎜의 허용기준에서 99.90±0.14%, 99.78±0.20%였고, 2%/2 ㎜의 허용기준에서는 97.98±1.97%, 96.86±1.76%로 나타났다. 감마지표 통과율의 신뢰도를 나타내는 95% 신뢰한계는 허용기준 3%/3 ㎜에서 정도관리 소프트웨어와 반도체검출기배열 각각 0.38(99.62%)과 0.62(99.38%)였고 2%/2 ㎜에서는 5.88(94.12%)과 6.60(93.40%)으로 보고서에서 제시한 허용기준인 표적과 위험장기에서 7.0(93.0%) 이내에 만족함을 확인하였다. 따라서 이번 연구를 통해 본 원의 정도관리 소프트웨어가 부피세기조절회전치료의 정도 관리 시스템으로서 간편하고 편리한 유용한 도구로 임상에 응용할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

A procedure for the prediction of the off-design performance of a gas turbine engine is proposed. The system performance at off-design speed is predicted by coupling the thermodynamic models of a compressor and a turbine. The off-design performance of a compressor is obtained using the stage-stackimg method, while the Ainlay-Mathieson method is used for a turbine. The procedure is applied to a single-shaft gas turbine and its predictability is found satisfactory. The results also show that the net work output increases with the increase of the turbine inlet temperature, while the thermal efficiency is marginal. The maximum thermal efficiency at design point is obtained between the highest pressure ratio and design pressure ratio.

General consensus on typical vertical profile of dissolved oxygen in the Ulleung Basin is that dissolved oxygen concentration beyond 300 m decreases with increasing depth. However, the results of our observations in 2005 and 2006 revealed three different dissolved oxygen distribution types in the deep layer of the Ulleung Basin. The first type showed oxygen concentration decreasing with increasing depth (Type- 1), the second showed oxygen concentration decreasing very sharply near the bottom boundary layer but constant in the bottom adiabatic layer (Type-2), the final was of the oxygen minimum layer above the bottom boundary layer (Type-3). Type-2 was the most common pattern in the Ulleung Basin. Type-1 was most common close to the Japan Basin, including the Ulleung Interplane Gap, while Type-3 was found around Dok do. Oxygen Consumption Rate (OCR) at surface sediment estimated using the dissolved oxygen distribution at the bottom boundary layer was 0.2~5.8 mmol·m−2 d−1, which coincided with OCR from direct sediment incubation. This implies that organic matter decomposition at surface sediment may play an important role in dissolved oxygen distribution patterns at the bottom boundary layer of the Ulleung Basin.

Dissolved oxygen sensors have characteristics in which data drift occurs over time. Therefore, in-situ calibration of the dissolved oxygen sensor is essential to accurately measure the concentration of dissolved oxygen in seawater. In order to provide a method for in-situ calibration, appropriate number of samples for calibration, and laboratory calibration interval of the dissolved oxygen sensor, the dissolved oxygen sensor values were compared with the measured values by titration on a total of 133 samples from three different cruises in the Indian Ocean, Pacific Ocean, and East Sea over a period of about one year. As a result, it is preferable to calibrate the sensor value using the correlation of a straight line obtained by directly comparing the final concentration value given by the sensor and the measured value. For the accurate calibration, at least 30 samples must be used to enable in-situ calibration within an accuracy range of about 1%. In addition, it is recommended that a laboratory calibration should perform within 1 year for the membrane type dissolved oxygen sensor for CTD to achieve a performance of 70% or more. 용존산소 센서는 그 특성상 시간이 지남에 따라 자료의 변형(drift)이 일어난다. 따라서 용존산소 센서를 이용하여 해수 중의 정확한 용존산소 농도를 측정하기 위해서는 반드시 용존산소 센서의 현장 교정이 필요하다. 현장 교정 방법과 교정을 위한 적절한 시료의 개수 및 용존산소 센서의 실험실 교정주기를 제시하고자 약 1년에 걸쳐 인도양, 태평양, 동해에서 수행된 세 번의 서로 다른 항차에서 총 133개의 용존산소 분석을 위한 시료를 획득하였다. 화학 분석을 통해 얻은 용존산소 분석값과 센서값을 비교 분석하였다. 그 결과 제조사에서 제시하는 센서의 출력전압과 용존산소 분석값을 비교하기보다는 센서에서 주는 최종 농도값과 분석값을 직접 비교하여 얻은 직선의 관계식을 이용하여 센서의 측정값을 교정하는 것이 바람직하고, 박막형 용존산소 센서의 경우 정확한 보정을 위해서는 최소한 30개 이상의 시료에 대한 분석값을 이용해야 약 1% 이내의 정확도 범위 내에서 현장 교정이 가능하다. 또한 CTD용 박막형 용존산소 센서가 70% 이상의 성능을 내기 위해서는 1년 이내의 주기로 실험실 또는 제조사에서 이루어지는 실험실 교정을 수행할 것을 권장한다.

Plants are often subjected to periods of soil and atmospheric water deficit during their life cycle. To find critical levels for identification of tolerant rice variety to salt- and drought-stresses, we investigated the water deficiency in the leaf of a Dongjinbyeo (DJ) cultivar, identified as intolerant variety, subjected to NaCl- and Polyethylene glycol 6000 (PEG)- treatments. The relative water content and water potential in leaf of DJ plant sharply declined along the high concentration and time after treatment in NaCl- and PEG-treated rice plants. To elucidate the method of simple screening of tolerant variety to salt- and drought-stresses, we examined the relationship between relative water content and water potential of leaves in NaCl- and PEG-treated rice plants. The relationship between relative water content and water potential in leaf of DJ plant showed the highest correlation in 80 mM NaCl-treatment, and showed high correlation only 8% PEG treatment. These results indicate that the critical level of salt stress for screening of tolerant rice was 80 mM NaCl at 48 h after NaCl treatment, and the critical concentration of drought stress for screening of tolerant rice was 8% PEG at 96 h after PEG treatment.
자궁경부암 근접치료 시 선량 검증 프로그램을 통한 임상적 위험성 평가

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the clinical risk according to the applicator heterogeneity, mislocation, and tissue heterogeneity correction through a dose verification program during brachytherapy of cervical cancer. We performed image processing with MATLAB on images acquired with CT simulator. The source was modeled and stochiometric calibration and Monte-Carlo algorithm were applied based on dwell time and location to calculate the dose, and the secondary cancer risk was evaluated in the dose verification program. The result calculated by correcting for applicator and tissue heterogeneity showed a maximum dose of about 25% higher. In the bladder, the difference in excess absolute risk according to the heterogeneity correction was not significant. In the rectum, the difference in excess absolute risk was lower than that calculated by correcting applicator and tissue heterogeneity compared to the water-based calculation. In the femur, the water-based calculation result was the lowest, and the result calculated by correcting the applicator and tissue heterogeneity was 10% higher. A maximum of 14% dose difference occurred when the applicator mislocation was 20 mm in the Z-axis. In a future study, it is expected that a system that can independently verify the treatment plan can be developed by automating the interface between the treatment planning system and the dose verification program.

Since 1966 when the Journal of the Korean Society of Oceanography was founded, more than 1,200 scientific papers have been published. Among them, papers for the biological oceanography constitute the largest portion of 37%, followed by the physical oceanography with 25%, and then the geological oceanography with about 17%. Papers on the chemical oceanography (CO) accounts for about 20% with around 250 papers. The field of the chemical oceanography generally occupied more than 20% since the first issue, but it declined down to 10% from the 1980s to the 1990s, and has regained to more than 20% since the late 1990s. Most of the CO research sites were at Korean coastal area, and 1/3 of the papers were on the South Sea, 1/4 on the Yellow Sea and another 1/4 on the East Sea. Nearly 60% of the CO papers were on seawater studies and about 30% on sediment studies. The main topic of the CO research was nutrients, followed by metals, isotopes, environmental pollution, organic pollution, organic matter, and gases. Most of the first authors belonged to the university, but the Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology (including the whole body) was the affiliation with the single largest group of the first authors.
