Background and Purpose : The purpose of this study was done to investigate what kinds of statistical techniques have been used to analyze data from oriental medicine research. Methods : 135 original articles which used statistical techniques in their data analysis were selected from the articles published in The Journal of Korea Institute of Oriental Medicine(JKIOM) between 1995 to 2007. Results : Among 135 articles, 59 articles used descriptive statistics while 76 articles used inferential statistics for data analysis. For that 76 articles. two-sample t-test(33 articles), analysis of variance(29 articles), regression(9 articles), chi-square test(5 articles), nonparametic test(4 articles), Fisher's exact test(3 articles), and other test(9 articles) were chosen to analyze the data. SAS and SPSS statistical softwares(82.50%) were mostly used to analyze the data. Nonparametic tests were used to 4 articles(6.97%) of 67 articles and parametic tests were used to 63 articles(93.03%) of 67 articles. Among 29 articles used analysis of variance, duncan(8 articles), dunnet(4 articles), bonferroni(4 articles), turkey(3 articles), scheff(1 article) were used to do multiple comparison. 9 articles did not carry out the multiple comparison. Conclusions : It was found that the frequencies of statistical package used and statistical analysis used were not much by now. High level statistical analyses were not used most for oriental medicine research.

The Study in the characteristics of technical structure of production and technical change have been prevailed in production analylsis. Most of existing studies on this subject mainly used the translog production function and gernerailzed Leontief production function, which are based on parametric methodology. However, if there is a possibility to be different between the true function and the pre-specified functional form, then the analysis based on the pre-specified function might be false. In the study, we apply semi-nonparametric technology to estimate the long-run technical change. We survey the various nonparametric studies, such as Chavas and Cox method and try to find an alternative methodology, Which is called semi-nonparametric approach.

하천유지유량 설정에 최소한의 기준이 되는 갈수량을 결정하기 위하여 하천유량 자료를 검토하고 확률갈수량을 추정하였다. 확률갈수량은 모수적 방법과 비모수적 방법을 사용하여 산정하였으며, Monte Carlo 모의실험을 통하여 비교·분석하였다. 한강유역 13개 지점의 갈수량에 대한 빈도 해석을 실시한 결과, 유역 전체에 대한 확률분포 형은 3가지 분포형, 즉 2모수 gamma, 2모수 lognormal, 그리고 2모수 Weibull 분포가 한강 전지점의 주요 Stream flow data was analyzed for determining the lowflow which is the standard for river maintenance flow. The problem of inference about the unknown change-point with a change in mean is considered. We suggest a nonparametric change-point estimator using window and prove its consistency when the errors are from the distribution with the mean zero and the common variance. a comparison study is done by simulation on the mean, the variance, and the proportion of matching the true change-points.

Tong and Wang`s estimator (2005) is a new approach to estimate the error variance using least squares method such that a simple linear regression is asymptotically de-rived from Rice`s lag- estimator (1984). Their estimator highly depends on the setting of a regressor and weights in small sample sizes. In this article, we propose a new approach via a local quadratic approximation to set regressors in a small sample case. We estimate the error variance as the intercept using a ridge regression because the regressors have the problem of multicollinearity. From the small simulation study, the performance of our approach with some existing methods is better in small sample cases and comparable in large cases. More research is required on unequally spaced points.
