        Comparison of Major Dental Disease between Workers and Korean Adults

        Objective: This study was conducted to be used as a fundamental material for developing the program and industrial dental health policy necessary to establish the constant dental health care system for workers. Methods: To efficiently maintain and improve dental health, this study conducted a comparison analysis of the dental diagnosis results of 3,125 workers and the National Oral Health Survey results of 3,353 Korean adults. The subjects aged 18 to 64 years were categorized into age groups, and then they were compared in terms of dental caries, missing teeth, gingivitis, calculus deposition, and oral treatment need. Results: With regard to the standardized prevalence rate of dental caries, workers accounted for 4.4% and Korea adults 1.7%. The prevalence rate of severe dental diseases of workers aged 35 to 54 years was the same highest as Korean adults. Regarding the priority of oral treatment need, in the case of workers, scaling ranked in the 1st place, caries treatment in the 2nd, and tooth brushing education in the 3rd; in the case of Korean adults, caries treatment ranked in the 1st place, scaling in the second, and extraction in the 3rd. Conclusion: Given the above results, it is necessary to plan and perform life-cycle based dental health projects in order to efficiently care for workers’ dental diseases and improve their dental health and to prevent dental caries and gingivitis by prioritizing industrial dental health policies.

      • 전문대학 간호과 교재 내용 중 구강보건관련 내용에 관한 조사 분석연구

        학교의 보건사업을 위해 각 학교에 배치되어 있는 양호교사는 대부분 학교보건 업무 전체를 수행하며 학교 구강보건사업을 담당하고 있다. 양호교사의 올바른 구강보건지식 및 구강보건에 대한 역할과 인식은 학교구강보건 향상에 매우 중요하다고 사료된다. 따라서 양호교사의 교육기관인 간호대학의 교재 중 구강보건관련 내용을 조사, 분석하여 보다 효율적이고 체계적인 학교구강보건사업을 수행하는데 참고가 될 수 있도록 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1. 간호학과 교재 내용 중 구강 보건 관련 내용에서 잇솔질은 구체적인 방법이 제시되어 있지 않았고, 구강위생용품, 치아우식예방법, 치주질환, 부정교합, 불소, 치면열구전색, 식이조절, 구강보건교육 등이 개론적인 정도만 언급이 되었을 뿐, 구강보건전문인력으로서 필요한 임상과 지식을 갖추기에는 부족한 내용이었다. 2. 현행 초, 중, 고의 교과서 중 구강보건관련 내용과 간호대학 교재 중 구강보건 관련내용을 비교한 결과, 거의 일치하는 수준이고, 치과의원의 역할, 치아우식증의 진행과정, 영양소(무기질, vitamin)에 대한 구강 보건 관련 내용은 오히려 초, 중, 고 교과서에 자세히 제시되었다. 3. 바람직한 학교 구강보건내용과 간호대학 교재 중 구강보건 관련 내용을 비교해 보면, 중요한 내용으로는 잇솔질, 구강위생용품, 치아우식, 충치예방, 치주, 부정교합, 불소, 치면 열구전색, 식이조절, 구강보건교육, 치아와 그 주위조직, 치아맹출, 탈락, 치열, 수, 명칭, 구강의 구조 등은 거의 동일하나, 학교보건을 수행할 전문인력으로서 임상 및 지식을 갖추기에는 체계적이지 못하다. Nurse teacher, who is in charge of school health project in each school, mostly handles the overall school health affairs and coordinates school oral health project. Nurse teacher's correct oral health knowledge and right understanding of oral health role seems very important to develop school oral health. The purpose of this study was, accordingly, to serve as a basis for implementing more efficient, systematic school oral health project, by analyzing what's related to oral health in teaching materials used in college of nursing sciance, an institute to educate nurse teacher. The findings of this study were as below: 1. The teaching materials used in the department of nursing science didn't include a concrete method of toothbrushing. They were no more than an introduction to oral health, just mentioning oral hygiene supplies, dental caries prevention, periodontal disease, malocclusioi fluorine, pit and fissure sealing, diet cure, or oral health education. They weren't sufficient for student to have enough knowledge to be an expert oral health personnel. 2. As result of making a comparison of ther contents related to oral health between the teaching materials in college of nursing science and textbooks in elementary, middle and high schools, it's found that they were almost on the :same level. The oral health information on ther role of dental clinic, dental caries procedure and nutrient(minera1 and vitamin) was provided in more detail in the textbooks of elementary, middle and high schools 3. As a result of making a comparison between what's recommended as a desirable school oral health education and the teaching materials in college of nursing science, it's found that they were almost identical in key parts including toothbrushing, supplies, dental caries, dertal caries prevention, periodontal disease, malocclusion, fluorine, pit and fissure sealing, diet cure, oral health education, tooh and the periodontium, tooth eruption, shedding, dentition, number, name and oral structure. However, the teaching materials were so unsystematic that student weren't able to acquire sufficient knowledge.

      • 초등학교 교과서의 구강보건내용 실태 조사

        현행 초등학교 교과서를 조사하여 현재 초등학교에서 시행되는 구강보건교육 내용을 알아보고 학교구강보건교육의 문제점을 파악하였다. 저학년을 대상으로 하는 구강보건교육내용은 자세한 설명이 없는 그림만 제공되어 있어 학생들이 보고 이해하는데 어려움이 존재하고 고학년으로 갈수록 그림보다는 이론적인 내용이 주를 이루고 있지만 문제제기에 대한 해답을 제공하고 있지 않아 구강보건 비전문가가 구강건강에 대한 전문적인 내용을 전달하는데 문제가 발생한다. 초등학교 구강보건교육 현실에서 나타나는 문제점을 해결하는 궁극적인 방안은 각 학교에 구강보건전문가를 배치하는 일이지만 우선 이를 위한 제도적인 여건이 마련되어야 하므로 당면한 현실적 문제를 해결하는데는 어려움이 있다. 따라서 가장 우선적으로 시행되어야 할 사항은 학교에서 구강보건교육을 담당하고 있는 일선교사와 양호교사를 대상으로 구강보건관련지식을 습득할 수 있는 프로그램을 개발하여 훈련시키는 것이 바람직하다고 할 수 있다. This study has two main purposes. The one is to investigate the contents of the oral health education in primary school. The other is to grasp the problems by examining the actual condition of the oral health education. The main points of this thesis are as follows: 1. Students in the first and second grade are taught the function of mouth, the method and time of tooth brushing and visiting dental clinic. 2. The curriculum of the third and forth year contains contents about oral health: the cause of oral disease, the role of teeth, the use of tooth paste and tooth brush and diet. 3. In the fifth and sixth grade students learn the role of teeth and saliva. 4. There are three problems in the curriculum of dental health learning: First, most of contents have picture only without any explanation. Second the answers to the problems are not provided. Third, non-specialists in oral hygiene teach oral hygienics. 5. An institution have to be established in order to solve the problems. 6. Teachers and nursing teachers should be trained oral health program to teach students dental health.
