This study addresses directionality underlying strategies employed during Korean-English simultaneous interpreting. The nature of simultaneous interpreting involving a complex deployment of concomitant tasks, necessitates professional interpreters to develop and constantly refine interpreting strategies. Interpreting strategies used during L1-to-L2 interpreting, however, have often been reported to be different from those used during L2-to-L1 interpreting, lending support to the hypothesis that simultaneous interpreting from L1 involves different processes and goals from interpreting from L2. Analysis of recordings of simultaneous interpreting among three professional Korean-English interpreters actually revealed that they employed different strategies according to the interpreting direction. Such a directionality can be caused by various factors including linguistic, social, and cognitive elements. During English-to- Korean interpreting, it seemed, the main objective of the interpreters was to convey the source text as accurately as possible, and attentional focuses were placed on its surface features including cohesive devices. While interpreting from Korean into English, however, the main objective was to deliver a target text understandable among the audience and thus interpreters were more geared toward meaning-based interpreting. This approach required interpreters to employ such strategies as omission and paraphrasing.

인문적 사고 기반의 해석과 정의를 통해 스타일링 교육방법 제언

The importance of humanities in design is being recognizedthrough various studies, and when talking about the variousvalues of humans, humanities have always been at its center. For design, thinking of humanities should be an academicdiscipline given the highest priority, and its importancehas been highlighted as a major issue throughout today’sindustries. This study aims at proposing design educationmethods by understanding and applying thinking ofhumanities according to such need. This study will thusexamine the close relationship between humanities anddesign through theoretical studies and speak about itsimportance. Then, through six experiments over six weeks,design style education methods through the interpretationand definition based on thinking of humanities will beproposed. Then, based on the results acquired throughsurveys for the difference before or and after theexperiments, the participants will be interviewed to verifythe possibilities of the education method. There are a totalof 20 participants in the experiment, and they are allsophomores majoring in design. Such educational methodwill make it possible to develop abilities to avoid plagiarismand pirating, which are wrong methods for using referenceimages, and rather help create forms that people cansympathize with by offering educational courses fordesigners to understand formative moods with their ownabilities through the interpretation and definition basedon thinking of humanities. 다양한 연구들을 통해 디자인에 있어서 인문학의 중요성은 점점 대두되고 있으며, 인간의 다양한 가치를 이야기할 때 인문학은 항상 그 중심에 있어 왔다. 디자인에 있어서 인문적 사고(思考)를 가장 우선시해야할 학문 중 하나이며, 그 중요성은이제 산업 전반에 걸쳐 중요한 이슈로 부각되었다. 이러한 필요성에 의해 인문적 사고를 이해하고 응용하여 디자인 교육방법을 제언 하고자 한다. 이를 위해 이론적 고찰을 통해 인문학과 디자인과의 밀접한 관계를 살펴보고 그 중요성을 이야기하고자 한다. 이후 6주간 6차의 실험과정을 통해 인문적 사고 기반의 해석과 정의를 통해 디자인 스타일 교육 방법을 제언하고자 하였다. 또한 실험 전과 후의 차이를 설문을 통해 얻은결과를 바탕으로 실험참가자들을 인터뷰 하여 교육방법의 가능성을 확인하고자 하였다. 실험 참가자는 총 20명이었으며,디자인전공 2학년 대상으로 진행되었다. 이러한 교육방법은참고 이미지의 잘못된 사용 방법인 표절이나 도용을 지양하고,디자이너 스스로의 능력으로 인문적 사고 기반의 해석과 정의를 통해 형태적 분위기를 이해하는 교육과정을 제공함으로써인간이 공감 할 수 있는 형태를 창출 할 수 있는 능력을 키울수 있을 것이다.
