수준별 과학-영어 내용중심 수업에서의 초등학생 영어의사소통능력향상에 대한 연구

The goal of the present study is to examine student improvement of English communication ability through differentiated content-based language teaching in an elementary school. The experimental instructions were given for one year to a total of six hundred thirty five (N=635) elementary school students, who were grouped into three levels-Advanced, Intermediate, Beginning-based on the results of English language tests prior to the study. To examine how the students improved their English communication ability, the statistical analysis was conducted with the results from the pre-test and the post-test of listening, speaking, and reading-writing in English. The data analysis has Shown that 1) all the three groups performed significantly better in the post-test than the pre-test, 2) there were significant group differences found in the post-test, and 3) there were significant grade differences found in the post-test. These results imply that the participating students could greatly benefit from differentiated content-based language teaching. Suggestions for better implementing differentiated content-based language teaching into a classroom are discussed.

漢字教學中的文化元素 ―以「錯別字辨識」單元為例

漢字既有「工具」價值,也同時兼具「文化」價值;把「文化元素」統整到漢字教學中,「工具」與「文化」是可以兼得的魚與熊掌。配合大學學制由三年轉變為四年的契機,大學在漢字教學單元中會融入更多文化元素,讓學生能在文化的浸潤下更精準地掌握漢字、學習漢字;進而培養學生熱愛本國文化的情懷。本文以筆者任教及籌畫的教學單元為例,說明在漢字學習課程中融入文化元素之必要及預期教學效果。 Chinese characters not only have its function but also have its cultural value. Both will be acquired when we properly incorporate cultural elements into Chinese language teaching. In time of emerging a new university undergraduate curriculum which will be moved from 3 towards 4 years, more diverse cultural elements will be included in the teaching of Chinese language so as to help students mastering Chinese characters and, at the same time, to cultivate their affections towards the culture of their home country. This paper will use a university course entitled “Differentiation of confusable words” as an example to illustrate how cultural elements incorporated into Chinese language curriculum and its learning outcomes.

한자교육 속의 문화 요소 탐색 -잘못 쓰기 쉬운 한자 단원을 중심으로

한자는 이미 도구로서의 가치뿐 아니라, 동시에 문화로서의 가치를 가지고 있다. 「문화요소」를 한자 교육 중에 접목한 가운데, 「도구」와 「문화」라는 두 가지 효과를 모두 얻을 수 있었다. 특히 대학 학제에 이러한 교수 방법을 배합하여 3학년에서 4학년으로 변화하는 기제로 삼아, 대학은 한자 교육의 단원 속에 더 많은 문화 요소를 융합함으로써, 학생들로 하여금 문화적 요소를 더욱 침투하게 하는 가운데, 더욱 정확하게 한자를 파악하고, 한자를 학습할 수 있게 할 수 있다. 나아가 학생들이 본국의 문화를 더욱 사랑하는 정서를 배양하게 할 수 있다. 본문은 필자가 교육을 시행하면서 기획한 한자 학습 단원을 예로 들어, 한자 학습 과정 중 문화 요소를 융합시킬 필요성과 함께 기대되는 학습 효과를 설명하고자 한다. 스마트 교육 정책 실현과 국어 교육의 전망

최근 정부 주도의 스마트 교육이 본격적으로 도입되기 시작하면서 국어교육 차원에서의 실현 방식에 대한 논의가 본격화되었다. 이는 국어 교육 내 스마트 교육이 필요한가에 대한 본질적인 탐색인 동시에 현재의 국어 교육 내용과 방법 가운데 스마트 교육의 정책을 통해 변화되어야 할 부분과 그 방향성에 대한 고찰인 것이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 스마트 교육 기반의 국어 교육이 유의미한 교육적 실효를 거두기 위한 방안을 탐색하기 위해 국어 교과 차원에서는 새로운 교육 기술과의 결합이 국어 교육 차원에서 지닌 의미나 결합의 방향을 모색하였다. 특히, 스마트 교육의 국어 교육적 실현의 주요방향, 국어과 디지털 교과서의 정책 방향, 맞춤형 교육의 실현태인 온라인 교수 학습과 진단을 위한 평가에 대한 국어 교육적 적용 가능성과 그 방향에 대해 살펴보는 가운데 국어 교육의 미래적 전망을 살펴보았다. When SMART education initiated by a Korea government begin in earnest, the realization direction of SMART education policy in korean language arts education is discussed. Aim of the discussion is to judge necessity of SMART education and to explore directions of change traditional instruction in korean language arts education for successful SMART education policy realization. The purpose of this article is to explore the meaning and effective integration direction of SMART educational technology in korean language arts education. Especially, It is discussed about how to reflect New literacies in Korean language arts education, digital textbook development and application for Korean language arts education, online teaching and learning and online diagnosis assessment for differentiated korean language arts instruction.

초등학교 영어교육에서 수준별 교육과정의 기본적인 개념 이해

  The purpose of this study is to grasp the core conception of the differentiated curriculum in elementary English education in Korea. Fundamentally, the differentiated curriculum is based on the individual difference. For English learners, there are the basic standards of their activities to perform for enhancing communicative ability. The standards which they should achieve in the given grade are basic, if they couldn"t achieve the standard and then they should do easier steps for the basic standards. If they could achieve the basic standards, they can go further step based on the activities the basic standards are required to perform. In addition to this concept, the core conception of the differentiated curriculum should be understood by the collaborative learning activities. In English education, task-based language teaching and learning make learners to understand the core conception of the differentiated curriculum.

中文教與學處理學生學習差異的原則和策略

홍콩에는 예부터 지금까지 파키스탄, 인도, 네팔 등에서 온 이민들을 포함하여, 비중국어권 아동들이 적지 않다. 평등교육의 이념을 표방하는 홍콩평등기회위원회(香港平等機會委員會)는 비중국어권 학습자들이 중국어권 학습자들과 같은 학교에서 학습하기를 건의하여 그들이 최대한 빠른 시일 내에 홍콩 사회로 융화되게 하려 하였다. 이로 인해, 비중국어권 아동들은 홍콩 현지의 일반 유치원을 다니게 되었는데, 홍콩의 교육 관할 당국도 적지 않은 자원을 투입하여 이들이 현지 교육과정에 적응할 수 있도록 협조하였으나, 그 효과를 즉각적으로 확인할 수는 없었다. 그 중 가장 큰 문제는 학습의 차이를 처리하는 것이었다. 비중국어권 아동들의 중국어 실력은 모국어 수준에 미치지는 못했다. 이들이 중국어권 아동들과 함께 중국어 수업에 참여할 때 적잖은 어려움이 발행했다. 또한, 비중국어권 아동들의 성장 배경도 각기 달랐다. 신이민자 가정의 아동도 있고, 현지에서 출생한 소수 민족 아동도 있어, 이러한 학습자 사이의 중국어 수준의 차이도 존재했다. 이밖에도 소수민족과 홍콩의 문화적 차이 또한 매우 커서 모든 교사와 아동은 ‘학습’과 ‘교수’ 두 측면에서 모두 여러 가지 차이로 인해 발생하는 문제들을 처리해야 했다. 이처럼 비중국어권 학습자들이 홍콩에서 중국어를 배우는 것은 매우 쉽지 않았다. 상술한 문제들을 해결하기 위해서 경마회 자선기금 및 다섯 단체의 공영교육 사회복지기구는 「경마회의 재밌는 중국어 배우기(賽馬會(有)友趣學中文)」 라는 프로젝트를 추진하여, 중국어를 모국어로 갖지 않는 학습자들이 효과적으로 중국어 학습 하여 빠르게 사회에 융화되도록 도왔다. 본 프로 젝트는 수준별 교육과정, 수준별 교재, 수준별 학습법, 수준별 교구, 수준별 평가와 다층적 교학법을 설계하고 지원하여 학습 차이에서 생기는 어려움을 해결하는 데 도움을 주었다. 본고에서는 연구 이론과 설계, 데이터 수집 및 연구 결과를 상세히 서술하고, 효과적인 사례에 대해 상세하게 서술하려고 한다. 이러한 연구 성과는 세계 각지에 광범위하게 적용될 수 있을 것이다. The majority of non-Chinese speaking (NCS) young students are studying in mainstream kindergartens. They are of ethnic groups, for instance, Pakistani, Indian, and Nepalese, who are new immigrants or offspring of immigrants in the past. The Equal Opportunities Commission encourages NCS students to study together with Chinese speaking students, for the sake of social inclusion in the long run. In recent years, the Education Bureau has allocated more resources in supporting NCS students for early adaption to the local education system. However, its effect is not predominant. It is believed that managing individual learning differences is one of the major challenges. NCS students is generally lagging behind those with Chinese as their mother tongue in the Chinese proficiency. Therefore, problems and complications arise as the result of the two groups of students studying in the same environment. Dissimilarities exist even among NCS students, some are new immigrants while some are born in Hong Kong. While there are obvious cultural differences between ethnic minorities and local Hong Kong students, teachers face challenges in handling these disparities. NCS students learning Chinese in Hong Kong is not an easy task. Regarding all these above, The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust in collaboration with three universities and two social welfare organizations have initiated the “C-for-Chinese@JC” project. It supported NCS students learning Chinese, as well as facilitated early social inclusion. The project developed differentiated school-based curriculum, differentiated teaching and learning materials, differentiated pedagogies and assessment, and varied support measures to kindergartens. Language development of non-Chinese speaking kindergarteners was tracked longitudinally in each of their pre-school years that composed of four language assessments. Significant improvement of language learning results was observed during the three years, which proved the effects of differentiate teaching and learning system. The system is able to alleviate the learning difficulties of NCS preschoolers and bridge the learning differences. This paper detailed research theories and design, data collection, research findings, and analysis of successful cases. The findings of this research could be applied in different settings internationally and be globally referenced.
