소비에트 아방가르드 패션디자인의 조형성 연구

The Soviet avant-garde was large, and influential wave of modern art that flourished in Soviet Union, approximately from 1910 to 1930. The influence of Soviet avant-garde art has not been limited to painting and sculpture, but led to the general development of the Soviet fashion. This study focuses on formativeness of Soviet avant-garde fashion design based on comprehensive understanding of Soviet Union. The study reviews a wide range of domestic and foreign references on historical and cultural characteristics of Soviet Union and Soviet fashion in 1910s and 1920s. In addition, the formativeness of Soviet avant-garde fashion design was carefully analyzed, reviewing visual and literature references worldwide. Analyzing the characteristics of Soviet avant-garde fashion design using factors as silhouette, color, material, pattern, four features – application of geometric structure of straight lines, preference of color contrast, utilization of various materials, combined application of traditional and geometric patterns - were derived. This study highlights formativeness features of Soviet avant-garde fashion design that it strengthened traditional culture, expressed national socialism, encouraged interaction between art and fashion and industrialized fashion. Russian art has been unrevealed in history because of political and ideological reasons and has few previous studies especially on Soviet fashion. This study will broaden and deepen the understanding of Russian fashion while providing new perspectives. 소비에트 아방가르드는 세계 최초의 사회주의 국가 건설과 함께 창안된 소련의 새로운 예술 정책으로 매우 혁신적이었다. 소비에트 아방가르드 예술은 소비에트 아방가르드 패션이 발전할 수 있는 가교 역할을 하였고, 소비에트 아방가르드 패션은 소비에트 패션의 시초가 되었다. 본 연구는 20세기 소련의 정치ž경제ž사회ž문화ž예술ž패션에 대한 전반적인 이해를 기초로 하여 소비에트 아방가르드 패션디자인의 조형성을 살펴보는데 목적이 있다. 본 연구는 소비에트의 사회ž문화적 배경과 패션의 특징을 국내외의 선행연구를 중심으로 살펴보았고, 소비에트 아방가르드 패션디자인의 조형적 분석은 문헌자료에 수록된 작품사진과 국외 인터넷 시각자료 등을 대상으로 진행되었다. 소비에트 아방가르드 패션디자인을 실루엣, 색채, 소재, 문양 등의 조형 요소를 중심으로 분석한 결과, 기하학적 형태와 직선적 실루엣의 활용, 원색 대비 선호, 다양한 소재와 화려한 장식의 활용, 전통 문양과 기하학적 문양의 혼용 등의 특징을 보였다. 위와 같은 디자인의 특징에는 러시아의 전통성 고취, 소비에트 국가 이념의 표출, 패션의 예술화 시도, 패션의 산업화 등의 조형적 의도가 내재함을 파악할 수 있었다. 본 연구는 아직도 한국사회에 생소한 러시아 패션을 이해하기 위한 선행 작업으로 시도되었으며, 나아가 러시아와 러시아 패션에 대한 이해의 범위를 넓힐 수 있다는 점에서도 의의가 깊다고 할 수 있다. 러시아 미술과 패션은 소련 붕괴 이후 도약적인 발전가능성이 있는 분야로 기대되며 향후 연구할 가치 또한 높다. 본 연구를 통해 향후 러시아 패션에 대한 연구가 활발하게 이루어지는 계기가 되기를 기대한다.

아방가르드(Avant-garde) 예술론에 의한 영국 패션 표현 연구

England was the origin of the industrial revolution and one of the leading super powers until middle of the 20th century. But the side effects of economic growth and advance in modern technology made the British reconsider the merits of civilization and they began to seek alternative revolutionary philosophy and art. In the midst of these changes was the avant garde born. The avant garde has changed its form from time to time, but maintained its original philosophy until today. In this article, I examined mental and formal characteristics of avant-garde art based on the theory of Renato Poggioli in order to analyse British avant garde fashion. Avant garde fashion contains nihilism, futurism, decadence, and combative spirit. I selected 4 representative British avant-garde fashion designers and examined their works. I concluded that their cultural background and preserving artistic energy is put together with British tradition such as nihilism and satirical spirit and this synergy has sublimated British avant-garde in British modernity. 영국은 일찍이 타 국가에 비해 산업 혁명의 선두 주자로 근대 이후 20세기 중반까지 최고의 강대국으로 세계에서 해가지지 않는 열강으로 그 위상이 높았다. 그러나 경제와 과학의 이른 발달이 각종 부작용을 유발하면서 문명의 이기에 대한 회의와 성찰이 시작되었고 각종 사상이나 예술에서 종전과는 다른 새로운 혁명들이 모색되기 시작 되었다. 그러한 상황의 중심에 아방가르드가 탄생했으며 이것은 현재까지도 그 유형이 조금씩 달라지고 의미가 변형되어갈지라도 그 본질은 계속되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 레나토 포지올리의 아방가르드 예술론을 중심으로 아방가르드의 정신적 특성과 양식적 특성을 통한 아방가르드의 표현기교와 아방가르드적 특성을 기반으로 영국의 아방가르드적 패션 분석을 시도해 보았다. 패션 분석을 위해 도출된 아방가르드 특성은 허무성, 미래성, 퇴폐성, 투쟁성이며 영국 아방가르드적 패션의 대표 디자이너로 4인을 선정하여 작품을 분석하고 고찰한 결과 그들의 문화적 후원, 예술적 저력이 허무와 풍자의 전통정서와 만나 영국식 아방가르드를 영국의 현대성으로 승화 발전시키고 있다는 것을 알 수 있었다.

패션쇼 메이크업에 나타난 아방가르드 특성 연구 - 2003년 이후 존 갈리아노 패션쇼를 중심으로-

현대인들은 산업화와 매스미디어의 발달로 인해 복잡해진 구조 속에 가치관의 혼란을 느끼며, 나름대로 자아정체성을 찾기 위해 개성화, 다양화를 추구하고자 한다. 이에 따라 예술은 이전의 형식적인 스타일보다 풍부한 상상력과 문화, 사회, 경제적 경향에 따라 변화된 미술사조의 배경을 바탕으로 인간의 정신적 공감대를 형성화한다. 그 중 20세기 급진적인 예술운동이며 `전위`라는 뜻을 가진 `아방가르드`는 부르주아 계급의 근대적 가치와 서구의 절대적 이상 미에 대항하는 스타일로 시작하여 전통성의 부정과 새로움을 추구하는 예술사조이다. 이것은 2000년대 이후 패션쇼의 복식과 메이크업에도 많은 영향을 미친다. 과거에는 뷰티메이크업에 국한되었던 패션쇼 메이크업이 2000년대에 접어들면서 아트적인 요소가 눈에 띄게 드러나는 가운데 패션쇼의 부수적인 요소라는 틀을 깨고 그 중요성이 크게 인식되기 시작하였다. 따라서 본 연구는 아방가르드의 개념을 이해하고 창조적인 실험성이 돋보이는 작품으로 주목받고 있는 영국 출신 디자이너 존 갈리아노의 패션쇼와 그가 수석디자이너로 일하고 있는 크리스챤 디올의 패션쇼에 나타난 아방가르드적 메이크업의 특성을 분석함으써 미래 메이크업의 다양한 디자인을 예측하는데 새로운 시각을 제공해 주리라 본다. People have confused sense of values in complicated structures due to industrialization and development of mass-media, and are pursuing diversified characters to find their identity. Thus, art forms mental sympathy based on artistic trend of thoughts rather than formal styles according to abundant imagination and cultural, social and economic trends. Among them, avant-garde meaning transposition as a rapid artistic movement in the 20th century began as a style resisting against modern values of bourgeois and absolute ideal beauty of western countries, pursuing negation of traditional and novelty. It has have a great influence on costume and make-up of fashion shows since 2000s. As fashion show make-up which was confined to beauty make-up in the past, has have remarkable artistic elements since 2000s, it broke the frame of secondary element of fashion show and its importance has been highly recognized. Therefore, this study analyses the characters of avant-garde make-up shown in the fashion shows of John Galliano, a English designer, who attracts more attention from the fashion cycles because of his creative and experimental fashion style and those of Christian Dior for which John is a chief designer in order to present a new viewpoint to predict diversified design styles of future make-up.

언리얼에이지(Anrealage) 패션컬렉션에 나타난 아방가르드 특성 - 2015S/S~2016F/W 컬렉션을 중심으로 -

연구배경 현대 패션의 흐름은 하나의 경향으로 단정 지을 수 없을 만큼 다양한 시각과 관점에 의해 스타일의 혼재 양상을 보이며 새로운 혁신의 가치를 추구하고 있다. 본 연구는 독창적인 아방가르드 패션 세계를 구축하고 있는 언리얼에이지(Anrealage)의 작품 분석을 통해 이에 내재된 특성을 조명하는데 목적을 두었다. 연구방법 연구방법은 문헌고찰과 컬렉션 분석의 사례연구를 병행하였다. 첫째, 아방가르드에 대한 개념과 특징, 패션과 아방가르드에 대해 문헌 고찰하였고, 언리얼에이지의 이력과 작품 활동을 살펴보았다. 둘째, 사례연구인 컬렉션 분석은 세계무대로 진출하기 시작한 2015S/S부터 2016F/W까지의 작품을 대상으로 각 시즌별테마, 형태, 색상, 소재와 문양, 장식 등을 살펴보았다. 셋째, 분석 결과를 토대로 언리얼에이지 작품에 나타난 아방가르드 성향을 조명해보았다. 연구결과 컬렉션 주제는 매 시즌마다 디자이너의 개념적 사고를 반영하는 특징적인 주제로 전개되었고, 형태는 전반적으로 A, H라인을 중심으로 전개되었으나, 주제에 따라 왜곡과 과장된 형태는 물론 비대칭과 대칭 구조를 적절히 활용하여 변화를 주는 것으로 나타났다. 색상은 무채색을 중심으로 전개되었으나 주제에 따라 변화되는 직물 문양이나 또 다른 색상 표현을 위한 장치적인 의도로 적용되었다. 소재는 다양한 질감이 활용되었으며 주제를 가시화하기 위한 신소재 탐구의 특징을 나타냈다. 문양은 정교한 수작업과 첨단 과학기술과의 접목을 통해 표현된 것들로 기하, 추상, 꽃문양 등 다채로운 문양으로 혁신적인 이미지를 반영하였다. 컬렉션연출에서도 첨단 과학기술을 활용한 퍼포먼스로 극적인 이미지를 나타냈고, 모델 이미지 부각보다는 은폐된 이미지로 관객의 시선을 옷에 집중시키는 특징을 나타냈다. 이를 통해 언리얼에이지 작품은 개념적 성찰에 의한 실험주의, 경계 초월의 해체적 역동주의, 혁신 창조를 위한 과학주의의 아방가르드 성향을 반영하고 있는 것으로 파악되었다. 결론 본 연구를 통해 창의적인 발상의 가치와 첨단 테크놀로지와 융합된 패션 미학의 새로운 가능성을 재인식할 수 있었다. 혁신을 위한 아방가르드 정신은 앞으로 전개될 패션의 미래에 창의성을 위한 원동력이 될 수 있을 것이다. Background The trend of modern fashion features a mix of styles with various diverse facades and views as it take a step towards innovative value. This study is to find out the characteristics embedded inside Anrealage works framing the creative avant-garde fashion world through their assessment. Methods The research was carried out by taking literature reviews and analytic case studies of collection. First, literature works about concept and characteristics on avant-garde and the relation of fashion and avant-garde were reviewed, as well as history of Anrealage and published works. Second, analysis of collections as case study was done on works from 2015S/S to 2016F/W introduced in the global stage. Theme, shape, color, material and pattern, and ornament were examined according to the season. Third, the research looked into the trend of avant-garde in the Anrealage works, based on the analyzed outcome. Result Collection themes were developed into seasonally unique one that reflects the designer`s conceptual idea. Shape followed the A and H lines on the whole. Modifications appeared, however, with some combination of asymmetry and symmetry as well as distortion and exaggeration according to the theme. Color mainly took an achromatic series, which was used for an instrumental usage to express the changing textile pattern or differentiated tone, depending on the given theme. For material, various textures were adopted. Effort to accept a new material was seen to highlight the theme. Pattern was expressed with convergence of elaborate manual work and cutting-edge hightech, showing diversity including geometry, abstract, flower pattern and such. The collection presentation gave a dramatic performance with hightech skill, where hidden images showed up rather than the models`images to bring the audience view to the clothing itself. To conclude, Anrealage works were thought to portray an avant-garde character with experimentalism of conceptual introspection, deconstructive dynamism of transboundary, and scientism of innovative creation. Conclusion This study suggested a new possibility of integrated aesthetics in fashion with creative value and high technology. Spirit of avant-garde for innovation would be a driving force for the forthcoming creativity in the fashion field.

로맨틱 아방가르드 특성을 적용한 3D 디지털 패션디자인 -미드저니 기반 프린트 패턴 개발-

본 연구의 목적은 로맨틱 아방가르드의 특성을 활용하여 기존 디자인 프로세스와 인공지능 기술이 결합된 새로운 미래 지향적인 패션디자인 방법을 제안하고 그 가능성을 탐구하는 것이다. 연구 방법은 로맨틱 아방가르드의 개념과 특성을 이론적 고찰을 통해 살펴보고, 선행 연구와 디자이너 컬렉션 사례 등을 통해 특성별 디자인 표현 방법을 도출하였다. 이를 본 연구의 작품 모티프로 활용하여 디자인과 프린트 패턴의 미드저니 프롬프트로 사용한 후, 개발된 디자인과 프린트 패턴을 CLO 3D의 시뮬레이션 과정을 통해 결합한 총 3점의 디지털 패션디자인 작품으로 구현하였다. 그 결과, 도출된 특성과 표현 방법은 디자인 전개 시 디자인과 프린트 패턴에 효과적으로 적용되며, 창의적인 디자인과 프롬프트 구성에 기본 틀이 됨을 알 수 있었다. 또한, 미드저니는 디자인의 창의적이고 효율적인 작업을 위한 보조도구로서 프롬프트를 통해 디자이너에게 창의적이고 독창적인 아이디어를 제공하고 있었다. 로맨틱 아방가르드의 특성을 적용한 3D 디지털 패션디자인은 디자인과 프린트 패턴에 두 개 이상의 특성들이 적용되어 다채롭고 창의적인 결과물을 얻을 수 있었으며, 기존 디자인 프로세스와 미드저니로 제작한 프린트 패턴의 결합으로 창의적인 디자인을 요구하는 현대 패션에 기술과 결합한 새로운 패션디자인 방법을 제시하며 그 무한한 가능성을 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구를 통해 기존 디자인 프로세스에 AI를 적용하고 실질적인 디자인 개발 방법을 제안했다는 점에서 그 의미가 있으며, 앞으로도 지속해서 발전해 가고 있는 인공지능을 패션의 효과적인 보조도구로 사용하기 위해 AI를 활용한 패션디자인 개발 연구가 활발하게 이루어지길 기대한다. The purpose of this study is to propose a new future-oriented fashion design method that combines the traditional design process and artificial intelligence technology by utilizing the characteristics of the romantic avant-garde. It also aims to explore the possibilities of this combination. The method of this study is to examine the concept and characteristics of the romantic avant-garde through theoretical consideration, and to derive design expression methods based on characteristics through previous studies and designer collection examples. This was then used as a design and Midjourney prompt for print patterns, and the developed designs and print patterns were combined through the simulation process in CLO 3D to create three digital fashion design works. As a result, it was found that the characteristics and expression methods derived were effectively applied to the design and print pattern in the design development, and became the basic framework for the creative design and prompt composition. Midjourney also provided creative and imaginative ideas through prompts as an aid for designers to work creatively and efficiently. 3D digital fashion design that applied the characteristics of the romantic avant-garde could achieve diverse and creative results by applying more than one characteristic to the design and print pattern. The combination of the traditional design process and the print pattern created by Midjourney showed a new fashion design method combined with technology in modern fashion that requires creative design, and confirmed its infinite possibilities. This study is significant in that it applied AI to the traditional design process and proposed a practical design development method. We look forward to further research on fashion design development using AI as an effective assistant tool for fashion as it continues to develop.

대학생의 패션스타일과 이미지 선호도 연구 -대전과 경기지역 대학생을 중심으로-

This study aims examine specific image preferences through selected fashion style and evaluation terms. Therefore, this study provided basic information in order to help select a suitable fashion style within a desired image. As times are changing, most people obtain information about fashion through the use of the Internet by utilizing mobile phones and personal computers and less through magazines, newspapers and so on. When people buy clothes, they seem to be more influenced by the design and color than by price and quality. It is not perceived important for buying like company, advertising, the place of purchase etc. The results of the analysis reveal the structural elements of an image having a sense of fashion style and can be categorized as a natural image, romantic image, elegance image, casual image and avant-garde image. Among the six fashion styles, the natural image is regarded the highest A style. The romantic image is the highest B style and elegance image is the C, D, E style. The casual image is the highest F style and avant-garde image is a D style. In regards to appropriate fashion style by ages, the twenty-something population is investigated in finding a fit that is lively and vibrant in style while the thirty-something population is perceived to identify with a more feminine style. The forty-something population has shown to prefer a more luxurious style. Through this observation one can see that there is a distinction is fashion style between ages.

러시아 민속공예와 예술을 적용한 러시아 현대패션의 사례연구

Since the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, the Russian public has been rapidly adapting to belated globalization, consistent with the ever-changing market economy. The purpose of this study was to investigate the social background and modern fashion of Russia after the collapse of the Soviet system and consider the characteristics of modern Russian fashion that have emerged in various ways amid the social changes. This study has significance in expanding the breadth of understanding the rapidly growing modern Russian fashion by considering modern Russian fashion and preparing the foundation while filling the need for research on the Russian fashion market, which has great potential. In the scope of the study, we investigated fashion from the post-2000s, when consumption began in earnest after Russia suffered a period of social and economic turmoil and switched to a liberalistic economy in 1991, to the present. In addition, we conducted an analysis focusing on the works of fashion designers who came from Russia and actively participated in work activities in Russia or abroad. Russian fashion designers reflect the unique cultural characteristics of Russia in their designs and incorporate Russian art into their designs to represent new fashion. Through continuous attempts for creative fashion design, modern Russian fashion will be developed in more diverse ways in the future. Thus, a follow-up study using various approaches to Russian fashion is needed.

패션쇼의 공간연출 사례연구 - 발렌시아가의 패션쇼 영상을 중심으로 -

This study aims to classify the expressive types of fashion show spatial direction and derive the aesthetic characteristics of avant-garde elements, based on an art historical review of avant-garde and an analysis of avant-garde approaches in the fashion field. Forming the subject of this study are the ready-to-wear fashion shows presented by Balenciaga’s design director Demna Gvasalia, who is recognized as a representative figure of the avant-garde spirit in the 21st century. The scope of the study encompasses the shows held during the three years following the onset of the pandemic(Spring/Summer 2021 to Fall/Winter 2023). The research methodology employed both a theoretical review and case study analysis. Based on an analysis of the spatial direction components, the expressive types are categorized as direct and indirect. The direct expressive types include the 'type of emphasizing the artistic and value aspects of dress' and ‘type of media mixing and experimentation', while the indirect expressive types include the 'type of ideological dissemination' and the 'type of emotional empathy enhancement'. The spatial direction of Balenciaga’s fashion show embodies five avant-garde aesthetic characteristics: futurity, exaggeration, deconstruction, complexity, and surreality.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the Avant-garde`s aesthetic values and expressional characteristic, and to find out(analysis) the design characteristic of Avant garde fashion since 1995. Expressoinal characteristics of Avant garde with the anti-aesthetic, radically pursuing newness, and open mind, are revealed dynamism, hostile innovation, and experimentalism. Futuristic images expressed in dynamism represent space style, body conscious style, cyborg style, kinetic style, and primitive style. And deconstructional images related to hostile innovation show punk style, grunge style, humor style, and abstractive style. Also surreal images related to experimentalism hold erotic style, depasemant style, deformation style, and collage style. The proper usage of newness offers the escape, the vividness, and the humour from the fatigue of the life and so, it is expected to offer the chance of transfering the active individuals and societies directly or indirectly By analyzing the instances for the images of avant-garde fashion since 1995, the contribution about the expectation of the design trends of the present and future is expected.

일본 아방가르드 패션에 표현된 서구 전통복식의 혼성모방

As a type of intimate architecture, fashion has always mediated the dialogue between clothes and the body, or fashion and figure. This study seeks to inquire the current aesthetic consciousness of the body and dress in Japanese avant-garde fashion and intends to research the features and meanings in the pastiche of Western sartorial convention in Japanese avant-garde fashion in order to examine the changing aesthetic attitude in postmodern fashion. The study investigates subjects of the fashion collections of the turn of the twenty-first century, when pastiche strategies frequently appeared in Japanese avant-garde fashion, through the methodology of literature research and case analysis. The results of the study are as follows: by developing the strategy of pastiche, Japanese avant-garde fashion exposes the defectiveness of the Western idea of the idealized and standardized body for mass productions, thus freeing design from its traditional confinement to the human body. Drawing on the re-conceptualization of the sartorial convention of Western tradition, Japanese avant-garde fashion designers tend to experiment with extreme exaggeration in form, refusing to subscribe to the traditional Western values built on the balance and symmetry of the body. Through the combination of the past and the present as well as the inner-wear as outerwear strategy, the historical pastiche challenges convention and symbolism, which results in the discord between signifiant and signifie of clothing.
