        들잔디와 금잔디 수집종의 지역별 적응성 및 봉분 실증 평가

        Zoysia japonica and Z. matrella are native turfgrass in Korea. Z. japonica is used throughout the country, but Z. matrella is weak in the cold climate and restricted to the southern areas. Z. matrella has a lot of advantages such as fine leaves, high density and excellent texture, so it is important to evaluate the applicability for various purposes. This study was conducted to evaluate the overwintering survival of the Z. japonica 10 and Z. matrella 18 ecotypes collected from across the country in Yangju, Eumseong, and Namhae areas from 2014 to 2015. Each of the two species was also selected and compared with the adaptability as grave covering grass in virtual grave mounds of actual size in Hapcheon, Gyeongnam province from 2017 to 2018. All of Z. japonica ecotypes overwintered in three areas, but 38.9, 83.3, and 88.9% of Z. matrella ecotypes in the Yangju, Eumseong, and Namhae areas survived through winter, respectively. The strip-sodded graves with two species were established in May 2017. In both Z. japonica and Z. matrella graves, ground-coverages were over 90% by Korean thanksgiving day’ mowing (Beolcho), indicating that there was no significant difference between two species in coverage rates. Survival rates of grave-cover plants of Z. japonica and Z. matrella in the following year with over-wintering were 80% and 28%, respectively. Z. japonica suffered damage in the northern slopes of the grave, but Z. matrella plants suffered with great damage in the northern and western slopes. In green-up timing, Z. japonica was faster than Z. matrella, and the slope of the grave proceeded in the order of south>east>west>north. During the winter season, soil temperatures and moisture in the grave remained low in the order of south>east>west>north slopes. 들잔디와 금잔디는 우리나라에서 자생하는 한국잔디이다. 들잔디는 우리나라 전역에서 사용되지만, 내한성이 약한 금잔디는 남부 지방에 제한되어 사용되고 있다. 금잔디는 세엽, 높은 밀도, 우수한 질감 등 많은 장점을 가지고 있어 다양한 용도로서의 가능성을 평가하는 것은 중요하다. 본 연구는 금잔디의 묘지 잔디로서의 활용 가능성을 파악하기 위해 충청도, 경상도, 전라도, 제주도 등지에서 수집한 들잔디 10 계통과 들잔디 18 계통을 3개 지역(경기 양주, 충북 음성, 경남 남해)에서 2014년-2015년 중에 월동 후 생존율과 그린업 시기를 조사하였다. 또한 2017년-2018년에는 금잔디 1계통과 중엽 들잔디 1품종 밀록 을 경남 합천에서 실제 조성한 가상의 봉분에 피복하여 묘지 잔디로서의 적용 가능성을 비교, 평가하였다. 들잔디는 모든 평가 지역에서 월동 후 생존하였으나, 금잔디는 양주, 음성, 남해에서 각각 38.9, 83.3, 88.9%의 개체가 월동하였다. 들잔디와 금잔디 봉분에서는 모두 5월 줄떼 식재 후 9월 추석 전 벌초까지 90% 이상이 피복되어 두 종 사이에는 피복 속도에서 큰 차이를 보이지 않았다. 하지만 들잔디와 금잔디의 월동 후 생존율은 각각 80%와 28%로 큰 차이를 보였다. 들잔디는 봉분의 북쪽 방향에서 동해를 입었으나, 금잔디는 북쪽과 서쪽 방향에서 큰 피해를 입었다. 봉분에서의 그린업은 들잔디가 금잔디보다 빨랐으며, 봉분의 남쪽>동쪽>서쪽>북쪽 방향 순서로 진행되었다. 동계 기간 중 묘지의 토양 온도와 수분은 남쪽>동쪽>서쪽>북쪽 순으로 높게 유지되었다.

        금잔디와 들잔디의 교잡종 한국잔디의 ‘한라그린12’ 품종 개발

        ‘Halla Green 12’ cultivar is characterized by Zoysia matrella × Zoysia japonica. It was selected as a warm season zoysiagrass with an extended greening period phenotype at low temperatures and a short plant height. Inflorescences of Z. matrella lines were collected near the boundary between wild Z. matrella lines and wild Z. japonica lines in Ora-dong, Jeju-do. Seeds were collected from the inflorescence and sown to obtain hybrid lines of Z. matrella and Z. japonica, ranging from the Z. japonica line to the Z. matrella line. Among the collected zoysiagrasses, a hybrid line of Z. matrella and Z. japonica, which showed a short height and characteristics of extended greening periods in greenhouses and test fields during winter, was finally selected and named ‘Halla Green 12’. Subsequently, it was registered in June 2022 (Registration No. 277). The test guideline (TG) of the Korea Forest Service was used to analyze the main external morphological characteristics of the ‘Halla Green 12’ cultivar, described as follows. ‘Halla Green 12’ cultivar has a short ‘Plant height’ (6.14±0.37 cm), ‘Leaf blade’ (4.15±0.36 cm), and ‘Leaf sheath’ (1.39±0.08 cm). The ‘Leaf angle’ is very wide at 61.5o. Since the ‘Leaf blade’ of ‘Halla Green 12’ has no ‘Trichomes,’ and the ‘Leaf blade width’ is as narrow as 1.69±0.06 mm, it is morphologically classified as a hybrid line of Z. matrella and Z. japonica, which is close to Z. matrella. In particular, during the winter period, ‘Halla Green 12’, which was grown in the test field, showed an extended greening period with green and reddish-purple leaf colors. The chlorophyll levels of the leaves of ‘Halla Green 12’ cultivar were 2580.2±175.6 nmol/mL/g, which were approximately 13.4-fold higher than those of the control variety ‘Yaji’ and 5.6-fold higher than those of the control Zm-6. ‘Halla Green 12’ showed the characteristics of extended greening period. Since the ‘Halla Green 12’ cultivar is characterized as Z. matrella × Z. japonica, which is close to Z. matrella with short ‘Plant growth’ and characteristics of extended greening periods, it is expected to be useful for reducing management costs, such as those attributed to mowing and industrializing lawn greening (Registration No. 277).

        학교 운동장 조건에서 봄철 그린업 전후 답압 강도에 따른 들잔디와 금잔디 운동장의 품질 차이

        천연잔디 학교 운동장은 이용자의 안전 확보, 자연친화적 공간 제공 및 환경조절 기능이 우수하여 맨땅, 인조잔디 운동장의 대안으로 제시되고 있다. 하지만 천연 잔디 운동장이 갖는 장점이 뚜렷하고 천연 잔디에 대한 선호도가 높음에도 불구하고 잔디 관리의 부담감으로 학교마다 운영에 어려움을 겪고 있다. 본 연구는 천연잔디 운동장의 보급 확산과 효율적 잔디 관리를 위해 가상의 학교 운동장 조건에서 그린업 전후에 답압의 강도가 들잔디와 금잔디로 조성된 운동장 품질에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 답압 처리는 들잔디와 금잔디 포장에서 70 kg의 성인 남성이 10분간, 빈도는 주 1, 3, 5회 및 무답압 처리로 3주간 실시하였다. 토양경도는 들잔디와 금잔디 포장 모두 답압 빈도가 높을수록 유의하게 증가하였고 주 3회 이상의 답압 조건에서 뚜렷하였다. 답압이 멈추면 토양 경도가 줄어드는 경향이었다. 공 튀김 높이는 들잔디와 금잔디 포장 모두 답압 빈도가 높을수록 유의하게 증가하였다. 그린업률과 지상부 밀도는 답압 빈도가 높을 수록 감소하는 경향이었다. 하지만 답압을 멈추면 그린업이 빠르게 진행되었다. 전체적으로 봄철 그린업 시기에는 금잔디가 들잔디에 비해 답압에 의한 영향을 덜 받는 경향을 보였다. Natural turfgrass playgrounds have been suggested as an alternative to bare land or artificial turf grounds for its excellence in user safety, nature friendly space, and environment control function. However, natural turfgrass playgrounds, though having many benefits and a high preference, are limitedly used at schools because of the burden of turfgrass care. In this study, playground quality by human compaction before and after spring green-up of Zoysia japonica and Z. matrella in school playground conditions were evaluated for the expansion of natural turfgrass playground and its efficient use. Human compaction was applied for three weeks by an adult of 70 kg for 10 minutes, under the condition of no compaction, once, three times, and five times per week in Z. japonica and Z. matrella field. Soil hardness of both Z. japonica and Z . matrella field significantly was increased as more compaction frequency, and it showed obviously under the condition of more than 3 times per week. When the compaction stopped, the soil hardness tended to decrease. Ball rebound height of both Z. japonica and Z. matrella fields was significantly increased as more compaction frequency. Coverage rate and shoot density of Z. japonica and Z. matrella decreased significantly as more compaction frequency. But after human compaction was stopped, the green-up progressed quickly. In general, during the spring green-up period, the Z. matrella tended to be less affected by the human compaction than Z. japonica.

        저온에서 녹기연장의 한국잔디 ‘한라그린 7’ 품종 개발

        The ‘Halla Green 7’ cultivar is a hybrid of Zoysia matrella and Zoysia japonica. The inflorescences of Z. matrella lines werecollected from Jeju Island near the border between Z. matrella and Z. japonica wild plants, respectively. After their harvest, the seeds weresown and various interspecific lines were obtained. In 2021, a line with greening period extending phenotype during the low temperaturesof winter was registered under the cultivar name of ‘Halla Green 7’ (Registration No. 245). The main morphological characteristics of the‘Halla Green 7’ variety are as follows: genetically short length of plant (12.2±0.58 cm), very wide angle of leaf (68.6°), short length ofleaf blade (8.38±0.37 cm), medium-leaf (3.29±0.09 mm), and very low leaf sheath (2.18±0.19 cm). The short length of leaf sheath makesit easy to manage the turf grass with low height. A very wide leaf angle has a high photosynthetic efficiency. The ‘Halla Green 7’ cultivaris morphologically classified as Z. matrella × Z. japonica hybrid line by medium-width of leaf blade and the presence of trichomes on theleaf surface. The colors of the leaf blade, leaf sheath, and stolon are green, light green, and light purple, respectively. During the low temperatureperiod of winter, chlorophyll content of the leaves of ‘Halla Green 7’ shows a 10.1-fold from that of the control Z. japonia ‘Yaji’ and about4.2-fold from that of the control Z. matrella Zm-6. This greening period extending phenotype is expected to contribute to the industrializationof zoysiagrass (Registration No. 245).

        한국잔디 신품종 ‘세아(Seah)’ 개발

        This study was carried out to develop new hybrid zoysiagrass cultivar ‘Seah’ (The application no. for cultivar protection : 2014-22). Native zoysiagrasses were collected from south-west seaside of Korea from 2010 to 2011. Artificial crossing was conducted to develop F1 hybrid between Z2011 (Z. sinica) and NM1 (Z. matrella) at plastic house in 2011. Among the progenies, ‘Seah’ showed fine leaf texture and high shoot density from the space planting plots at field. ‘Seah’ showed genetically light green color, with fine leaf with 1.8mm and height to the lowest leaf blade was 1.94 cm. Ground coverage rate was slower than medium leaf zoysiagrass (Jung-gi), but plant height of 7.1 cm was the lowest among the compared zoysiagrasses and height to lowest leaf of 1.94 cm was lower than most zoysiagrass, which may allow low mowing height. 한국잔디 신품종 ‘세아’ (품종보호 출원번호:2014-22)는 2010-2011년 한반도 남, 서해안 및 도서지역에서 수집된 잔디 유전자원을 사용하여 인공교배육종으로 작성 되었다. 2011년 형태적으로 구별성이 있는 수집종 Z2011 (Z. sinica) 모본과 NM1 (Z. matrella) 부본 간에 인공교배를 수행하였으며, 2012년 작성된 후대(F1) 중 Space planting 을 통해 생육이 우수하고 밀도가 높은 고품질 계통(Z2011xNM1)-2을 선발하였으며, 이를 ‘세아’ 라 명명하였다. 2 년간 포장적응 실험을 통해 적응성, 안정성, 구별성을 확인하였으며, ‘세아’를 신품종으로 출원하게 되었다. ‘세아’ 품종의 특성은 엽색이 연한 녹색이며 엽 너비는 1.8 mm로 세엽이다. 지면에서 첫 번째 잎까지의 높이가 1.94 cm로낮아 낮은 깎기에 적응도가 높다. 초장도 7.1 cm로 매우 낮은 생육형을 보인다. 생육속도는 느려서 뗏장 생산 효율은 다소 떨어진다고 판단된다. 그러나 줄기 밀도가 높고 세엽형이라 품질이 우수하다.

        한국잔디 ‘한라그린 10’ 품종의 개발

        This superior zoysiagrass line was selected from the zoysiagrass genetic resources collected in the Republic of Korea. Inflorescencesof Zoysia matrella lines were collected near the border between wild Zoysia japonica and wild Z. matrella on Jeju Island. Various Z. matrella× Z. japonica lines were obtained using the seeds from the collected inflorescences. In 2021, one of the lines that extended the greeningperiod during the low temperatures of winter was registered under the name of ‘Halla Green 10’. The main morphological characteristicsof this cultivar, which were analyzed using the test guidelines of the Korea Forest Service, are as follows: short length of plant (12.01±0.57cm), short length of leaf blade (8.83±0.68 cm), and short length of leaf sheath (1.71±0.20 cm). The short length of leaf sheath makes iteasy to manage the turf grass with low height. Due to the presence of trichomes on the leaf surface and medium-leaf type (leaf blade width:3.0±0.16 mm), ‘Halla Green 10’ is morphologically classified as Z. matrella × Z. japonica. As the leaf angle is very wide at 77.7°, it hasa high photosynthetic efficiency. The colors of the leaf sheath, leaf blade, and stolon are light green, green, and light purple, respectively. In particular, during the low temperature period of winter, the chlorophyll content of the leaves of ‘Halla Green 10’ shows about 7.5-foldfrom that of the control Z. japonia ‘Yaji’ and about 3.2-fold increase from that of the control Zm-6. Extending the greening period phenotypeis expected to be commercially useful (Registration No. 246).

        키가 작고 녹기연장의 한국잔디 ‘한라그린11’ 품종의 개발

        ‘Halla Green 11’ is a Zoysia matrella cultivar showing short height and extended greening period lines at low temperatures ofwinter than general warm season zoysiagrasses. ‘Halla Green 11’ Z. matrella was collected from the seaside cliffs in Geogeum Island, Jeollanam-do. The turfgrass was transplanted to the genetic resources greenhouse and propagated in the test field. Among the zoysiagrasses cultivated inthe greenhouse and test field, Z. matrella, which had a short height and showed extended greening period lines during the low temperaturesof winter, was finally selected and named ‘Halla Green 11’ and was registered in June 2022. The main external morphological characteristicsof the ‘Halla Green 11’ variety were analyzed using the test guideline (TG) of the Korea f orest service, which is described as follows: Sincethe turfgrass has a ‘Leaf sheath’ of a short length, the mowing height can be lowered, rendering mowing easy. Furthermore, the ‘Plant height’and the length of the ‘Leaf blade’ are short. The ‘Leaf blade width’ is narrow, and trichomes on the leaf surface are not present. Hence,‘Halla Green 11’ is morphologically classified as Z. matrella. The leaf angle is very wide. The colors are green for ‘Leaf blade’, light greenfor ‘Leaf sheath’, and light purple for ‘Stolon’. Particularly, during the low-temperature period of winter, ‘Halla Green 11’ showed approximately25.2, 10.6, and 8.1-fold high levels of leaf chlorophyll than the control cultivar ‘Yaji’, control Zm-6, and Zm-19, respectively. Owing tothe short height of the plant and extended greening period phenotype, ‘Halla Green 11’ is expected to be highly preferred by consumers(Registration No. 274).

        한국잔디의 환경스트레스에 대한 산화적 손상 비교

        한국잔디의 기본종과 중간적인 형태특성을 보이는 교잡종의 건조, 염, 약광, 저온 등과 같은 환경스트레스에 대한 차이를 알아보기 위해 전해질 유출과 MDA와 과산화수소(H2O2) 농도 변화를 조사하였다. 건조스트레스를 가했을 경우 들잔디와 금잔디가 갯잔디와 중엽형 잔디에 비해 전해질 유출과 MDA 농도가 증가하였고, H2O2 농도는 들잔디가 유의적으로 증가하였다. 염스트레스를 처리했을 때에는 들잔디와 금잔디가 갯잔디와 중엽형 잔디에 비해 전해질 유출과 MDA 농도가 증가하였으며, H2O2 농도 금잔디가 크게 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 약광스트레스를 처리했을 때에는 갯잔디가 전해질 유출, MDA와 H2O2 농도가 높게 나왔다. 저온스트레스를 가했을 경우에는 갯잔디가 전해질 유출과 H2O2 농도가 높았고, 금잔디는 MDA 농도가 높게 나타났다. 4가지 스트레스를 가했을 때 염스트레스에서는 갯잔디가 내성이 높았지만, 건조, 약광과 저온스트레스에서는 중엽형 잔디가 높은 내성을 보였다. 이와 같이 한국잔디 종내에서도 환경스트레스에 대한 반응 정도가 다르게 나타났으며, 한국잔디의 기본종에 비해 중엽형 한국잔디가 내환경성이 높은 경향을 보여 우수한 내환경성 잔디 개발을 위한 육종 재료로서의 가치가 높고, 중엽형 한국잔디에 대한 연구가 필요할 것으로 사료되었다. The findings that decrease of MDA and H2O2 concentration with low temperature stress in medium-leaf type of zoysiagrass. In this study, we investigated the different response of oxidative damage to environmental stress, results indicated that environmental tolerance was higher medium-leaf type than basic species of zoysiagrass. Medium-leaf type zoysiagrass can be utilized for turfgrass breeding of high quality, which needs to be investigated further research at the molecular level.

Electrolyte leakage(EL), malondialdehyde(MDA) and hydrogen peroxide(H2O2) concentration were determined. This result indicated that low levels of EL, MDA and H2O2 concentration with drought stress for Z. sinica and medium-leaf type of zoysiagrass than Z. japonica and Z. matrella, these has tended to drought-tolerant. Also Z. sinica and medium-leaf type of zoysiagrass decreased the EL, MDA and H2O2 concentration during salt stress, which was investigated for salt-tolerant.       • 한국잔디 신품종 '세녹(Senock)' 개발

        This study was carried out to develope new zoysiagrass cultivar 'Senock' (Patent registration: 10-2003-0072018). Artificial crossing between collected lines of Z. sinica and Z. matrella (collected in South Korea) was conducted to develope F1 plant (CSM) which was cultivated at field for open self-pollination. Among the open pollinated progenies, CSM8 (Senock) showed superior performance in color and density rating. 'Senock' showed genetically dark green color, with medium leaf width ($3.1\pm0.17mm$), low plant height ($14\pm5.67cm$), and wide leaf angle ($67.3\pm11.1degree$). Height to the lowest leaf blade of this cultivar was $2.0\pm0.14cm$, which may allow low mowing height. Specific bands with primer number OPB7 by RAPD analysis can be used for cultivar identification. 본 실험은 한국잔디 신품종 '세녹'(특허출원:10-2003-0072018) 개발에 관한 것으로, 한국에서 수집한 유전자원 중 갯잔디와 금잔디계통을 인공교배 방법을 이용해 F1계통을 얻었다. F1 계통을 포장상태에서 방임수분을 통해 변이확대를 하였으며, 이들 방임수분 후대에서 선발한 것으로 유전적으로 잔디의 녹색도가 진하며, 낮게 자라는 특성이 있고 품질이 우수하며 잎의 강직성이 높다 엽폭이 3.1mm로 중엽형이며, 초장이 14cm로 낮고, 잎각도가 67.3도로 넓으며, 지면으로부터 최하위 엽의 잎몸 기부까지의 길이가 2cm로 낮은 형태적 특성을 갖고 있어 낮은 잔디 깎기에 적응할 수 있는 영양번식형 잔디이다. 또한 RAPD 밴드 특성에서 한국잔디 신품종 세녹(Senock)이 특이 밴드를 갖어 식별성이 있다.
