        An Exploratory research to establish a comprehensive tourism education plan for the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province

        Purpose - The purpose of the study is to carry out exploratory research to establish a comprehensive tourism education plan for the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province on the basis of the Activation Ordinance for Tourism Education in Jeju Special Self-Governing Province. Research design, data, and methodology - The aim is to present the vision and direction of Jeju tourism education in a large framework based on various status analyses related to tourism education and the survey results of provincial residents. Based on the analysis of the status of Jeju tourism in terms of quantity, the change and prospects of Jeju tourism environment, and the survey of tourists who visit Jeju, the survey is conducted to find out what kind of tourism education is required. In addition, through a survey on tourism education to the provincial people, the improvement points of the current tourism education are derived and what tourism education is required. Result - Based on the results of the study, the vision to reflect and utilize the Activation Ordinance of Tourism Education in Jeju Special Self-Governing Province is presented as follows. The Jeju Special Self-Governing Province s vision for tourism education was set as Global Tourism Jeju, emphasizing the importance of globalization above all else to induce quantitative and qualitative growth of Jeju tourism and to leap into a more advanced tourist destination internationally. The goals for non-compliance are largely presented by the tourism sector workers and ordinary citizens. Those who work in the tourism sector are presented by enhancing professionalism through the reinforcement of one capacity, raising awareness of two kindnesses, expanding opportunities for providing three education, understanding of one tourism in the case of ordinary citizens, raising awareness of two kindnesses and providing educational opportunities for three tourism common sense. Conclusion - It is proposed that the provincial government form a consultative body for tourism education to activate tourism education and enable systematic management and operate it steadily. The Provincial Council for Tourism Education ultimately proposes to play an advisory role in the designation of educational institutions that specialize in tourism education.

        한-아세안 관광협력의 지속가능성 제고 방안: 교육연수 협력 프로그램을 중심으로

        ASEAN is one of the most important partner in investment and trade with Korea. Especially, ASEAN is a new emerging market in tourism. Korea-ASEAN tourism exchange will be expanded and relationship will be strengthened. To expand effectiveness of international tourism cooperation between Korea and ASEAN countries, tourism education and training program should be emphasized and operated to improve capacity of human resource in ASEAN countries. The purpose this study was to determine ways for sustainable improvement of Korea-ASEAN tourism cooperation, especially focusing on the training and education programs. Detailed objectives were; 1) to understand international cooperation in tourism field; 2) to identify overall status, conditions, issues, and features relating to the tourism cooperation between Korea and ASEAN; 3) to determine demands of ASEAN countries on tourism training and education programs through inquiries; 4) to identify the status and issues of tourism cooperation which were made through various channels and best practice relating to the tourism training and education programs through in-depth interviews to the specialists in the fields of tourism, international relations, cooperations, and ASEAN. It was found that tourism related training and education cooperation programs which have been conducting were mostly sufficient to achieve their goals to alleviate recipient countries’ poverty. However, the scales of those programs were small and the frequencies were significantly lower. In the operating aspects, it was verified that those programs were not comply with the new direction of international cooperation which should reflect government’s international cooperation policies, respond to the participating countries’ demands and their needs, and administer program achievements or fruits. A survey with a total of 38 employees in tourism related businesses in six countries of ASEAN countries was conducted. They prefer field oriented and practice based training and education programs which can be applied in their home countries, and can strengthen their personal empowerment. They also emphasized that accommodation facilities and careful concerning on cultural differences are very important factors in training and education conditions. In-depth interviews were also conducted with 8 experts in the fields of international cooperation, tourism training and education, international relations, and ASEAN. They mentioned that it is very required to sustainable improve of tourism training and education programs. Those are establishing identification through program branding, managing instructors’ pool, developing and operating the programs based upon consumers’ needs, operating post-programs, maintaining expertise, and so on. This study is a kind of pilot study to deal with tourism training and education cooperation programs for ASEAN countries which expect to further expansion expecially in tourism fields. The results of this study could provide basic data and information for further researches on structuring international tourism cooperation and tourism training and education cooperation programs for ASEAN countries and other developing countries, and could contribute to develop and expand researches on international tourism cooperation models.

        관광교육에 관한 연구동향 분석과 과제 -관광분야 KCI 학술지 게재논문을 중심으로-

        Today’s education market is actively discussing the role and direction of college education due to diverse changes in the educational environment such as the difficulty of finding jobs, the decrease in the number of school-age people, and online education. For the tourism industry, which has a high reliance on human services, it is significant to cultivate excellent manpower through effective college education, and it is timely to discuss how to educate students more effectively. Although it is important to promote tourism education research that can improve the educational environment and effectiveness by understanding the inherent and external factors involved in tourism education, prior literature has been limited in reviewing previous studies and giving research directions. This study aims to analyze the research trends of the tourism education and present the research directions. In order to achieve this, 202 papers from six major journals listed in the Korea Citation Index were collected by the year of publication, research subject, and research method. The result indicated that while curriculum topics are the most popular, there is a low interest in practical educational research such as students’ field practices. As for the educational environment, most studies have focused on students’ learning environment, and topics of campus life have been overlooked. Further, as the majority of studies have employed quantitatively-oriented research methods, it is suggested to promote other methods including mixed methods research. We also encourage researchers to target educational suppliers such as professors and industry professionals. Based upon the research findings according to the classification nomenclature, the present study can improve tourism education by addressing the implications and future directions for tourism education research. 현재 국내 교육시장은 대학생 취업난과 학령인구의 감소, 비대면 온라인교육 등 교육환경의 다각적 변화로 인해 이에 맞는 교육의 역할과 방향에 대한 논의가 적극적으로 이루어지고 있다. 높은 인적서비스 의존도를 가진 관광산업에 있어 효과적인 대학교육을 통해 우수한 인력을 양성하는 것은 매우 중요하며, 어떻게 학생들을 효과적으로 교육할 것인가에 대한 적극적인 논의가 필요한 시점이다. 따라서, 관광교육에 수반되는 내재적, 외재적 요인들을 이해하고 교육환경과 효과를 개선하기 위한 관광교육 연구의 활성화가 요구되고 있으나 그동안 관광학 연구분야에서는 관광교육 관련 연구들을 검토하고 분석함으로써 연구적 흐름을 이해하고자 한 연구는 매우 제한되어 있다. 이 연구의 목적은 관광교육 연구들의 동향을 분석하여 연구의 방향을 제시하는 것이다. 이 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해 한국연구재단등재지 6개 학술지 202편의 논문들을 수집하였으며 게재년도, 대상 학술지, 연구주제, 연구방법을 분류유목으로 설정하고 분석을 수행하였다. 분석결과 연구주제로 교육과정 연구가 가장 많이 이루어진 반면, 현장실습과 같은 실용적 교육 연구에 대한 관심이 낮게 나타났다. 교육환경 측면에서는 교과학습 환경위주의 연구가 주를 이루었으며, 학습 외 대학생활에 관한 연구는 한계를 보였다. 한편, 연구들이 양적연구에 편중됨에 따라 혼합연구와 같이 질적연구와의 연계를 시도하는 등 연구방법의 다양화가 요구되며, 교육의 수요자인 학생뿐만 아니라 공급자인 교수나 업계를 대상으로 한 연구의 활성화가 필요한 것으로 나타났다. 이 연구는 분류유목에 따라 도출된 연구결과들을 바탕으로 관광교육 연구의 시사점과 방향을 제시하여 관광교육의 개선을 도모하고자 한다.

        농촌관광 교육프로그램 만족도가 교육효과 인식에 미치는 영향 분석

        The purpose of this research is to investigate the satisfaction of educational program for rural tourism and to analyze the relationship between the satisfaction of education program for rural tourism and the perception of education effectiveness. To achieve this purpose, 177 effective samples were used for this study. Findings indicated that there are differences between the satisfaction of educational program for rural tourism and the perception of education effectiveness based on two factors; participants’ demographic characteristic and participants’ characteristics of activity. It showed that diverse education programs are needed for different characteristics of participants. Moreover, participants' characteristics of activity rather than participants' demographic characteristics should be considered as a standard factor for education program diversification for rural tourism. Especially, 'activity unit', 'type of activity' and 'motivation' in participants' characteristics of activity are considered more importantly than the others. The result of regression analysis, the satisfaction of education program for rural tourism was found to have significant effect on the perception of education effectiveness. In particular, ‘plan and preparation’ factor in satisfaction of education program for rural tourism has more significant effect on the perception of education effectiveness than the other factor: ‘operation and progressive’ factor. It showed that the satisfaction of education program for rural tourism should be updated for improvement of education program effectiveness.

        의료관광교육 서비스품질이 교육만족도 및 교육훈련전이에 미치는 영향: 조직특성 및 국가관계의 조절효과를 중심으로

        The medical tourism industry, a convergence of medical services and tourism, has been getting more and more popularity as a new value-added industry in the 21st century. Accordingly, the number of professional workers within this industry has been increasing, and the role of educational institutions to cultivate well-equipped human resources has also become critical. However, compared to practically activated medical tourism-related education programs, studies investigating the effectiveness of these education programs are relatively rare. Therefore, this study attempts to examine the effect of five dimensions of medical tourism education service quality (i.e., tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy) on learners’ education satisfaction and transfer of education training. In addition, the moderating roles of national relations as well as organizational characteristics (i.e., transfer climate and support of supervisors and colleagues) in the relationship between education satisfaction and transfer of education training are further verified. The results of the structural equation model (SEM) using 151 samples from respondents with experience in completing medical tourism education programs reveal that tangibles, reliability, and assurance are found to have a significant impact on education satisfaction, which in turn leads to a high level of transfer of education training. Moreover, it is found that national relations and support of supervisors and colleagues play a moderating role. This study would provide guidelines for improving the efficiency of educational institutions, creating outcomes for learners’ affiliated firms (e.g., hospitals), and promoting medical tourism at the national level from the perspective of medical tourism education.

        체험농업관광 교육의 현황과 개선 방안

        The objectives of the study are to establish a theoretical model to link education to experiential agricultural tourism, to identify some characteristics and problems of current education related with the tourism development, and to suggest remedial measures for activating the education for the tourism. Theoretical model adopted in this study included such variables as situation, education, consumers' needs, tourism managers' management ability, development of experiential agricultural tourism. For analyzing education related to the tourism, formal and nonformal education for consumers, managers and related agents were considered.In relation to formal education, it was suggested to emphasize experiential learning in practical aspects for elementary school students. For middle and high school students, agricultural management aspects were emphasized with agricultural experiential tourism.

        교육관광 발전 방안에 대한 시론적 고찰 -그랜드투어 사례를 중심으로-

        This study was conducted to understand the essential meanings and contents of the education tourism from The Grand Tour and explore the measures toward its improvement of education tourism. Tourism now is the fast growing industry and education is an area that has been fundamental throughout human history. Educational tourism has received little attention as a vehicle for raising academic standards Now there is demand and interest growing in the industry compelling tourism and education to be combined and it is education tourism. Educational tourism includes those special tourism experiences motivated by interest in learning. This study focused on the bear-leader(tour guider), an organised tours that promote a structured learning experience, post evaluation, education tourism contents. First, the Planning of education tourism Programme is based on basic principle. Second, It is very important that tour guide is equipped with professional knowledge and responsibility. Third, it is important to evaluate a experience after education tour is finished. Fourth, the target of educational tourism is not only youth but also older people from lifelong education perspective.

        해양관광 교육체계 구축을 위한 연구

        Due to the expansion of the scope of the tourism industry, we would like to suggest three basic directions for education in the field of marine tourism. First, there is a need for an advanced human resource development policy to systematize the marine tourism industry. Systematic marine tourism education should be based on the advanced tourism industry. Marine tourism education should be conducted in a high-value-added and employment-friendly direction for the marine tourism industry. The extent of the ocean is more natural than that of land, and conservation and protection should be prioritized. Therefore, human resource development policies should be promoted to keep pace with the already advanced tourism industry on land. Second, the necessary appropriate education should be provided based on the industries that require marine tourism professionals. Marine tourism education of professionals required for the marine tourism industry requires a comprehensive approach to link the field linked to the marine tourism industry. It is necessary to establish a net transfer structure in which the curriculum and necessary manpower are linked to the supply that meets the demand of marine tourism-related industries. In conclusion, the development of marine tourism curricula is very urgent. The development of a common curriculum involving marine tourism educational institutions, marine industry education institutions directly or indirectly related to marine tourism, and marine tourism experts should be prioritized on the premise of common cooperation between academia and industry. Based on this, education and training for related industries and related local residents is a task that should be preceded for the advancement of marine mineral mines.

        小学校の社会科教科書にみる観光教育の様相

        小学校における観光教育の充実が図られようとしている。観光教育は、観光体験が少ない小学生の、観光に対する印象形成に影響を及ぼし得る、重要課題である。本稿は、その現状を把握するため、社会科教科書中の観光描写に注目して内容分析を行った。教科書では、観光は地域の情報把握、発信手段として描写され、観光客の増加は地域の発展に繋がると強調されている。観光は社会の問題解決手段としての位置づけとされていることがわかる。しかしこれでは、自己不在、中身不在の、空洞化した観光が流布することになりかねず、自律的な観光は実現しない。観光や旅行は「人と繋がり、交流することで、新たな発見ができる場」だという認識を育てることが観光教育の第一歩であり、これを基礎として問題解決型の学びを位置づけなければならない。 The social studies section of the curriculum guidelines for elementary schools in Japan, which is fully implemented from 2020, clearly states tourism as an industry that utilizes information. Tourism education which fosters a close connection to tourism and encourages thinking about its role in society is expected to become mainstream in elementary schools in the future. Tourism education is a critical issue for elementary school students who have little experience with tourism, as it can have a significant impact on their impressions and future vision of tourism. In order to understand the current state of tourism education in elementary schools, we conducted a content analysis focusing on the depiction of tourism in social studies textbooks. In the textbooks currently in use, tourism is depicted as a means of understanding and disseminating local information, and it is emphasized that an increase in the number of tourists will lead to the development of the region. Thus, It is clear that tourism is positioned as a means of solving social problems. However, this may lead to the spread of hollowed-out tourism that is absent of self and substance, and autonomous tourism will not be realized. The first step in tourism education is to nurture in people the awareness that “tourism and travel are places where they can connect and interact with people to gain information and make new discoveries”. We must then position problemsolving learning on this basis.

        관광고등학교 학생의 진로의식과 진로교육 및 교육만족도에 관한 연구

        Career education conducted in tourism-specialized high schools is not about increasing employment or college entrance rates. Rather, it is about providing specialized career education on tourism while helping students interested in the tourism sector to learn the subject, search for jobs, and prepare for and choose their careers based on their aptitudes and talents. Therefore, the career education should practically help the students make preparations and choices for their careers in the tourism sector. While the purpose of establishing a tourism-specialized high school and the importance of career education corresponding to that purpose are well understood, it is, de facto, hard to conduct efficient career education because of internal and external environmental issues. In particular, students attending tourism-specialized high schools have better awareness of their careers and a higher sense of career maturity in their peer groups. Most people find it hard to make a decision on their career, even when they grow up, but most of these high schoolers already had dreams in their minds of getting a job in such fields as hotels, airlines, travel, food and drinks, and tourism, even before being admitted. This study aims to examine the career awareness among tourism- specialized high schoolers and the status of career education in various aspects and to seek out ways to provide more efficient career education and tourism-specialized education guidance.
