청소년용 인터넷 중독 변화동기 척도(SOCRATES-I) 개발을 위한 예비연구

This article verifies the reliability and validity of the Korean version of the Stages of Change Readiness and Treatment Eagerness Scale (SOCRATES), which focuses on Korean adolescents with Internet addiction. The scale was developed by Miller and Tonigan (1996) to measure an individual’s motivation to change when confronted with the issue of alcohol addiction. In this study, 19 items of the original scale are modified into items related to Internet addiction; the Korean version SOCRATES-I is composed of the modified items. 579 junior high school students participated in this study from P city in Korea. Among 579 students, only 100 students were classified into a potential risk group and a high risk group. Using the data from the 100 students, this study was able to draw a conclusion. The result shows that the same three sub-factors were extracted from the original version of SOCRATES: Recognition, Ambivalence, and Taking steps. The scale also shows a proper Cronbach’s alpha, and both the nomological validity and criterion-related validity showing a significantly positive correlation. Each sub-factor of SOCRATES-I independently explains the motivation to change. The end of this article discusses implications and limitations. 본 연구는 Miller와 Tonigan(1996)이 알코올 의존자의 변화동기를 측정하기 위해 개발한SOCRATES를 국내 인터넷 중독 청소년들을 대상으로 제작하여 그 신뢰도와 타당도를 검증하기위해 실시되었다. 이를 위해 원척도의 19문항 모두를 인터넷 중독 관련 문항으로 수정하여 인터넷 중독 변화동기 척도(SOCRATES-I)를 구성하였다. 경북 P시의 중학생 579명에게 설문조사를실시하였으며, 이 중에서 잠재적 위험 사용자군과 고위험 사용자군으로 평가된 100명만을 대상으로 연구를 실시하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 인터넷 중독행동에서의 변화동기를 측정하기 위한 SOCRATES-I 에서도 원논문과 같이 인식, 양가성, 실천으로 분류되는 3개의하위요인이 추출되었고 내적일치도가 적절한 것으로 확인되었으며 이해타당도와 준거관련 타당도검증 역시 적절한 것으로 나타났다. 또한 SOCRATES-I 척도의 각 하위 요인이 독립적으로 변화동기를 설명하고 있음을 확인하였다. 끝으로 본 연구를 바탕으로 한 시사점과 제한점에 대해 논의하였다.

과학은 과학정신과 과학기술을 나누어서 고찰할 수 있다. 과학정신 은 탐구의 과정에서 나타나는 과학자의 태도로서 주로 인식론과 존재 론이 관련된다. 과학기술은 탐구의 결과를 응용하는 방식으로서 주로 가치론과 연관된다. 일반적으로 과학은 과학기술과의 관계 속에서 이 해되어 왔는데, 이를 너무 강조함으로써 과학정신의 중요성이 간과되 어 왔다. 과학정신은 합리성, 비판성, 개방성, 보편성, 자율성 등으로 규정될 수 있다. 그런데 소크라테스, 칸트, 포퍼 등의 윤리학자 혹은 정치 철학자들에 의해 강조된 것이 바로 이 덕목들이다. 이것은 사물 의 본질과 현상의 구조를 과학적으로 규정할 때 나타나는 특징들이지 만 사회적 차원에서 인간관계에 적용하면 인문적 가치, 특히 도덕적 덕목의 형태로 변모된다. 여기서 특히 중요한 것이 합리성이며, 그 중 에서도 더욱 강조되어야 할 것은 ‘비판적 합리성’이다. 그러나 인간의 합리성에는 한계가 있고, 더구나 급격한 과학기술의 발달에 부응하기 에는 역부족이므로 과학기술시대의 도덕적 상황은 대체로 비관적이다.

In the post-Cold War world, there have been competing policy blueprints for Northeast Asia among Asian and American academics and policymakers, each of which centers on the role of the Korean Peninsula. One is a system of balance of power in Northeast Asia, wherein the US policy goal toward North Korea is regime change through intensified economic sanctions and military pressures. Another is a system of collective security in Northeast Asia, wherein the US policy goal toward North Korea is eventual diplomatic normalization. Still the other is Northeast Asian Economic Community and regionalism, wherein US economic embargo against North Korea should be lifted, and a reunified Korea based on the principles of the Sunshine Policy would become the heart of Northeast Asian economic integration and regionalism. At this historic moment, whether the strategic choices in Northeast Asia - the Korean Peninsula, Japan, and China - are driven by the current events, and thus make near-sighted reactions to the chains of events, or whether the choices are founded upon the long-term goal of regional cooperation and integration, will have enormous impacts on the people of the Korean Peninsula and Northeast Asia, as well as on the future development of Sino-American relations.
