In this paper, an optical system with ultra-narrow angle and high brightness, which is a key element of LED searchlights that are highly used in marine and military applications, was designed, and optical properties were evaluated by manufacturing a prototype LED searchlight optical engine. In order to realize the ultra-narrow angle and high brightness of the LED searchlight, the optical system is optimally designed with a parabolic reflector and an LED light source. For the LED light source, an LED source having a high luminous flux per area (lm/m2) was selected and positioned at the focus of the parabolic reflector. Through the light tracing simulation, it was found that the larger the diameter of the parabolic reflector, the higher the luminous intensity and narrow angle can be obtained. After the optimal design of the optical system, a prototype LED searchlight optical engine was prepared and optical properties were evaluated. As a measurement result of the optical properties of the final prototype, the beam angle was 1.5 ° and the luminous intensity was 402,210cd at the power consumption of 8.3W.
Study on the Design of a High Condensing LED Searchlight

This paper dealt with the condensing technology of an LED light source that uses a parabolic reflector to replace a searchlight equipped with a xenon lamp. A ray-tracing simulation was conducted to analyze the influence of the diameter of the reflector and the size of the light source on light condensing. The combination of a parabolic reflector with a diameter of 620 mm and a focal distance of 220 mm, and a 9 mm multi-chip package (MCP) with a luminous flux of 7,000 lm showed the narrowest beam angle. The luminous intensity at the center was measured at 7.7×10<sup>6</sup> cd. The distance between the light source and the point where the illuminance was 1 lx was calculated to be 2.8 km. The power consumption of the system was 95 W, which is only 9.5% of that of the 1 kW xenon searchlight, and the beam angle was 1.03°. In a site experiment, it was confirmed that the light ray reflected from the LED searchlight proceeds forward without any diffusion because of the narrow beam angle.

본 연구에서 우리는 반사형 LCD용 반사판을 최적화하고자 한다. 반사판의 새로운 표면구조를 체계적인 수식적 접근 및 분석을 통해 구한 후, 반사특성의 결과를 바탕으로 기존의 표면구조와 비교해서 보다 최적화된 표면구조를 제시하고자 한다. 반사특성의 결과로는 새로운 표면구조가 기존의 표면구조에 비해 동일한 시야각 범위에서 보다 균일한 반사율 분포를 나타내고 있으며, 또한 주변환경을 충분히 고려해서 사용자 위주의 자유로운 시야각 범위 조절이 가능함을 알 수 있다. 결과적으로, 새로운 표면구조는 보다 균일한 반사율 분포를 가지게 됨으로써, 기존의 반사형 LCD의 시야각 의존성을 상당부분 개선할 수 있으리라 본다. Reflectors for reflective LCDs must be designed to be able to control the direction of the image and the viewing angle range for optimal display. In this paper, we tried to optimize the reflector for reflective LCDs. The conventional surface structures showed many defects and problems. Therefore we made efforts to improve the surface structures of the conventional reflectors through both a theoretical approach and analytic work. As a result, we proposed surface structures which showed almost uniform reflectance within the viewing angle range specified by a user even at any oblique incidence. By using Beckmann's equations, we could check the reflective property of the proposed surface structures.

A sintered carbide roller mold for reflectors which is used for cover of automobile lamp and beacon plate of highway has been developed. The geometry of sintered carbide roller mold has been determined from the analysis of reflector geometry. An acute angle diamond wheel and dressing system also has been designed and developed to manufacture the sintered carbide roller mold.
Optical and Structural Properties of Bilayer Circular Filter Prepared by Glancing Angle Deposition

In this paper, we report the optical and structural properties of a bilayer circular filter fabricated by a glancing angle deposition technique. The bilayer circular filter is realized by a two-layer TiO2 helical film with layers of opposite structural handedness. It is found that the bilayer circular filter reflects both right and left circularly polarized light with wavelength lying in the Bragg regime. The microstructure of the bilayer circular filter is also investigated using a scanning electron microscope.
용접부 초음파 사각 탐상에서 디컨볼루션을 이용한 균열신호와 기하학적 반사신호의 식별

용접부 초음파 사가탐상은 용접 루트부나 counter bore와 같은 결함과 관련 없는 신호를 발생하는 기하학적 반사체로 인하여 신호의 식별이 매우 어렵다. 본 논문에서는 이와 같은 상황에서 결함신호를 식별하는 새로운 기법을 제안하였다. 디컨볼루션(deconvolution)을 사용한 유사성함수의 개념을 도입한 새로운 기법에서는 먼저 결함과 기하학적 반사체에 대하여 기준신호와 대상신호를 획득하였으며 이들을 정규화 하였다. 대상신호를 기준신호로 디컨볼류션하여 얻은 유사성함수의 패턴으로부터 기하학적 반사신호와 결함신호를 구분할 수 있었다. 그 결과로, 제안하고 있는 기법이 기하학적 반사체와 노치 모서리부에서 반사되는 신호를 분리하는데에 유용함을 알 수 있었다. The identification of ultrasonic flaw signals is a truly difficult task in the angle beam testing of welded joints due to non-relevant signals from the geometeic reflectors such as weld roots and counter bores. This paper describes a new approach called "technique for identification of flaw signal using deconvolution(TIFD)" in order to identify the flaw signals in such a problematic situation. The concept of similarity function based on the deconvolution os introduced in the proposed approach. The "reference" signals from both flaws and geometric reflectors and test signals are acquired and normalized. The similarity functions are obtained by deconvolution of test signals with reference signals. The flaw signals could be identified by the patterns of similarity function. The initiative results show great potential of TIFD to distinguish notch signals from the geometric reflections.

In this paper, the band structural design that is typically in a line was arranged in a ring shape, so as to configure the high power LED lighting in such a way as to form a concentrated light distribution angle of less than 15 degrees. The parabolic aluminized reflector PAR38 that facilitates design using area and the area of the optical system to the same extent, applied a multiple light-source condenser lens optical system for the control of integration. The LED used here implemented a single linear light source using ans LED module with ans LED, flip-chip chip-scale package. The optical system was designed based on the energy star standard.
COB LED High Bay 대칭형 광학계의 배광각에 관한 연구

We have studied a chip-on-board LED lighting optical system for various luminous-intensity-distribution angles of the LED. An optical system that can accept different LEDs was made to reduce the systems’s weight and size as we selected the chip-on-board LED, which is easy to apply to optical systems, unlike existing package-on-board LEDs. The luminous-intensity-distribution angles were 45°, 60°, 90°, and 120°. We researched these four types of optical systems. The 45° and 60° units were developed into reflectors, and the 90° and 120° units, into lenses. We checked the performance of the designed optical system through simulation and made a mock-up. Then we made a prototype of the chip-on-board LED high bay for use with the mock-up. After measuring its performance, we tested the luminous-intensity-distribution angles and compared them with simulation data. The resulting prototype was developed considering brightness, light uniformity, age, and economics which are suitable for a factory environment.
