        Static and Dynamic FEM Simulation of Packaging Tray Cup Pad for Korean Pears

        Among the many packaging materials used in cushion packaging, there is a lack of optimum design for the tray cup pad used in fruit packaging for export and domestic distribution. It causes over-packaging due to excessive material input, and this could be solved by applying various parameters needed to optimize the design of the tray cup pad considering the packaging material and the quantity of fruits in the box. In the case of a tray cup for fruits, the economic efficiency of material and thickness should be considered. Therefore, it is possible to design a tray cup pad depending on the packaging material used by applying appropriate design parameters. The static and dynamic characteristics of the materials used for packaging of pears were analyzed by using the FEM (finite element Method) simulation technique to derive the optimal design parameters. And by applying the appropriate design parameters considering the quantity of fruit and distribution environment, it is possible to design an appropriate fruit tray cup pad. In this study, as a result of simulating the contact stresses between the fruit and the tray cup for the PP, PE, and PS materials used in the fruit tray cup, the material with the lowest contact stress was PP and the value was found to be 398 Pa. The contact displacement between fruit and tray cup using this material was about 0.0463 mm, which was the lowest value compared with other materials. Also the resonance frequency band of tray cup made of PP material was below 36.81 Hz, and the strain energy was below 12.20 J. The resonant frequency band of the pear is more than 80 Hz and it could be applied to all the tray cup materials as compared with the resonance band of 38.81 Hz or less which is the resonance band of all tray cup pads for packaging. Finally, PP is the most suitable material for the tray cup pad.

        멜론 포장용 펄프몰드 난좌 개발

        본 연구에서 개발된 멜론용 펄프몰드난좌의 진동전달특성을 구명하고 모의수송시험을 통해 적합성을 분석하였다. 멜론 펄프몰드 난좌의 중량이 증가할수록 압축강도는 상승하 였고, 완충성능이 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. RMS 평균 가 속도의 진동전달률을 살펴보면 펄프몰드 난좌의 중량이 증 가할수록 진동전달률이 감소하는 경향을 보였다. 골판지 180 g 신문고지 50 g을 배합한 펄프몰드난좌의 경우 가진되 는 진동가속도보다 큰 진동가속도가 전달되는 것으로 나타나 멜론의 포장에 적합하지 않은 것으로 나타났고, 골판지 200 g 신문고지 50 g을 배합한 펄프몰드난좌의 진동전달률이 가장 작게 나타나 멜론의 포장에 가장 적합한 것으로 나타 났다. 또한, 기존 상자포장보다는 펄프몰드난좌 포장 시 진 동의 전달이 작은 것을 알 수 있었으며, 펄프몰드 난좌의 중 앙에 위치한 멜론과 비교하여 주변에 위치한 멜론에 전달되 는 진동가속도가 큰 것을 알 수 있었다. 기존 상자포장과 펄프몰드난좌 포장의 모의 수송시험을 실 시하여 경도를 측정 한 결과, 무가진 멜론에 비하여 경도저하가 나타났지만, 난좌를 이용하여 포장하였을 때 기존 상자포장에 비하여 멜론 의 경도 유지 효과가 우수함을 알 수 있었다. 따라서 본 연구결과 펄프몰드 난좌를 이용한 멜론포장은 수송 중 진동에 의한 품질저하 요인을 감소시켜 상품성 유지에 효과적인 방 법이라 판단된다. In order to protect agricultural products against damage by physical load, various shock absorbing materials is used. As the demands of environment protection increase, the use of plastic materials have been restricted. On the other hand, Pulp mold products have some benefits - easy manufacturing, superior shock absorbing and eco-friendly. In order to develop pulp mold tray for melon packaging as shock absorbing packaging material, we investigated physical properties and vibration transmission characters of 180, 200 and 220 g pulp mold tray for melon. As the weight of pulp increased, compression strength and shock absorbing performance increased, while vibration transmissibility decreased. Especially in case of 180g pulp mold tray, it is not suitable for melon packaging because the transmitted vibration acceleration was higher than the forced vibration acceleration. And 200g pulp mold tray is suitable for melon packaging because the vibration transmissibility was lowest in three trays. And the vibration acceleration transmitted to the melon in edge of pulp mold tray was higher than to the melon in center of pulp mold tray. As the result of the simulated transportation test, the firmness of melon packaging using pulp mold tray was higher than that of conventional packaging. Therefore, these results suggest that pulp mold tray packaging could be suitable for melon packaging.

        Increasing amount of automotive technological innovation is driving manufactures to strengthen their NVH performance than ever before. To effectively test and evaluate NVH performance of automotive parts many NVH measuring techniques are under development. One of which is testing for BSR noise. BSR is induced by micro-interactions between vibrating automotive parts that cause discomforting noise to the driver. Unlike NVH issues, due to its intermittent behavior of BSR noise, the best approach to manage BSR is to eliminate its source than try to decrease its noise level. The BSR improvement discussed in this paper is about BSR noise becoming apparent after changing the design of child anchor attached to the package tray. Functionally the part had no problem, yet rattle noise had been developed over time. This paper proposes analyzing and eliminating the problematic noise source through experimental study to enhance noise performance.

        FEA 시뮬레이션 기법을 이용한 수출용 한국 배 포장 트레이 및 완충패드 최적 포장설계

        Among the many packaging materials used in cushion packaging, there is a lack of optimum design for packaging trays and cushion pads used in pear packaging for export and domestic distribution. It causes over-packaging due to excessive material input, and can be solved by applying various parameters needed to optimize the design of the packaging tray and cushion pad considering the packaging material and the number of pears in the box. In the case of a cushion pad for pears, the economic efficiency of material and thickness should be considered. Therefore, it is possible to design a packaging tray and cushion pad depending on eco-friendly packaging materials (PLA, PET) used by applying appropriate design parameters. The static characteristics of the materials used for the packaging of pears were analyzed using FEA (finite element analysis) simulation technique to derive the optimal design parameters. In this study, we analyzed the contact stress and deformation of PET, PLA tray (0.1, 0.5 1.0, 1.5 and 2 mm) and PET foam (2.0, 3.0 and 4.0 mm) with pears to derive appropriate cushion packaging design factors. The contact stress between the pear and PET foam pad placed on PLA, PET trays were simulated by FEA considering the bioyield strength (192.54±28 kPa) of the pears and safety factor (5) of packaging design, which is the criterion of damage to the pears. For the combination of PET tray and PET foam buffer pad, the thickness of the PET foam is at least 3 mm, the thickness of the PET foam is at least 1.0 mm, the thickness of the foam is at least 2 mm, and if the thickness of the PET tray is at least 1.5 mm, the thickness of the foam is at least 1 mm, suitable for the packaging design. In addition, for the combination of PLA tray and PET foam pad, the thickness of the PET foam was not less than 2 mm if the thickness of the PLA tray was 0.5 mm, and 1 mm or more if the thickness of the PLA tray was not less than 1.0 mm, the thickness of the PET foam was suitable for the packaging design.

        지기구조를 이용한 친환경 종이 트레이 디자인 개발 연구- 토니모리 기초화장품 세트를 중심으로 -

        오늘날 플라스틱의 과다 사용은 전 세계의 문제가 되었다. 세계 화장품 시장에서도 플라스틱 용기의 사용은 59.9%로 매우 높다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 화장품 세트에서 사용되는 플라스틱 트레이를 대체할 지기구조를 이용한 친환경 종이 트레이를 개발하고자 하였다. 연구의 범위는 화장품 브랜드인 토니모리의 기초화장품 세트 트레이로 하였다. 연구의 방법은 이론적 배경을 통해 지기구조의 기능 상품보호, 기계 적성, 비용 절감, 적재, 운반 및 수송, 폐기에 관해 정리하였고 사례분석을 통해 플라스틱 트레이와 현재까지 개발된 친환경 트레이의 장단점을 분석하고 단점을 보완할 수 있는 지기구조를 이용한 종이 트레이를 개발 후 전문가 집단을 통해 기존 플라스틱 트레이와 비교 분석하였다. 지기구조를 이용한 친환경 종이 트레이의 컨셉은 평탄화가 가능하도록 디자인하여 운송, 적재, 보관이 쉽게 하였고 원터치 형성이 가능하게 하여 조립의 효율성을 높였다. 또한, 재질과 구조를 통해 높은 완충력을 실현하여 상품을 안전하게 지지할 수 있도록 디자인하였다. 디자인 전문가를 통한 기존 플라스틱 트레이와 개발된 종이 트레이와의 비교에서는 선택 및 운반, 조립 및 사용, 보관, 분리 및 폐기에 대해 조사하였으며 세부항목 중 조립과 재밀봉 및 재사용 부분을 제외하고 모든 면에서 높은 평가를 받았다. 친환경이 선택이 아닌 필수가 된 오늘날 탈 플라스틱을 위해 지기구조를 이용한 친환경 종이 트레이 개발에 도움이 되고자 한다. Nowadays, plastic overuse has become a worldwide problem. In the global cosmetics market, the use of plastic containers is very high at 59.9%. In order to solve this problem, this study attempted to develop an eco-friendly paper tray using a paper structure to replace the plastic tray used in cosmetics sets. The scope of the study was the basic cosmetics set tray of TONYMOLY, a cosmetics brand. The research method summarized the functional product protection of the paper structure, mechanical aptitude, cost reduction, loading, transportation, and disposal through theoretical background, and analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of the plastic tray and the paper tray using the paper structure developed so far, and compared with the existing plastic tray through a group of experts. The concept of an eco-friendly paper tray using a paper structure is designed to be flattened, making it easy to transport, load, and store, and enabling one-touch formation to increase assembly efficiency. In addition, it is designed to safely support the product by realizing high buffering power through materials and structures. In comparison between existing plastic trays and developed paper trays by design experts, selection and transportation, assembly and use, storage, separation, and disposal were investigated, and were highly appreciated in all aspects except for assembly, jam-rod, and reuse. Today, eco-friendly is not an option but a necessity, it is intended to help develop eco-friendly paper trays using a paper structure for plastic-free.

        지속가능한 디자인측면으로 접근한 친환경 과일난좌 개발

        과일난좌는 유통중 과실의 파손, 변질에 의한 상품가치 하락을 방지하는 목적을 가지고 있다. 최근에는 포장 폐기물 발생과 낭비를 줄이기 위해 재사용이나 재활용이 가능한 포장재 사용을 권고하고 있다. 지금까지의 난좌연구는 유통과 물류를 위한 기능성 측면에서 연구되어져 왔으나 이제는 지속가능한 디자인 측면에서의 접근방법이 필요하게 되었다. 따라서 본 연구는 지속가능한 디자인 측면의 접근방법으로 과일난좌를 개발하고, 기능성 측면에서 검증하여 기능성과 지속가능성을 융합한 기초연구를 수행하여 추후 난좌 연구의 기초자료를 마련하고자 한다. 연구방법은 이론적 고찰을 통해 난좌 관련 선행논문 및 연구보고서를 조사하고, 지속가능한 디자인 접근 방법 중 범용 디자인 요소를 적용한 난좌로 기능성 검증(낙하충격시험, 압축하중시험)을 진행했다. 범용 디자인 요소를 적용하기 위해 경제성 · 환경성 · 공용성 요소를 고려하여 난좌를 제작하였다. 유통안정성테스트 결과 기존 포장재인 PSP 보다 개발 난좌의 파손율이 10~13% 감소하였으며 최대하중은 약 4배 더 높게 측정되었다. 본 연구는 과일난좌의 유통안정성뿐만 아니라 디자인 측면에서 접근한 포장디자인 개발연구로써 의의를 가졌다. 다만, 지속가능한 디자인측면의 접근방법과 유통안정성테스트 간의 상관관계에 대한 추가적인 연구가 필요할 것으로 보인다. Purpose of using fruit tray is to prevent depreciation of product due to damage and deterioration of fruit in the process of distribution. Recently, it is recommended to use packing material that is reusable or recyclable to reduce waste. Until now, researches about tray mostly focused on its functionality for distribution, but not it requires an approach from sustainable design point of view. Thus, this study aims to develop a fruit tray from sustainable design approach, confirm its functionality, conduct fundamental research fusing functionality and substantiality to prepare fundamental data of after fruit tray study. The study reviewed previous papers and research reports about tray for theoretical contemplation, and confirmed functionality(dropping impact simulation, compression load test) of tray that applied wide-use design factors among sustainable design approaches. To apply the wide-use design element, the study produced a tray considering its economic, environmental, common feature. As the result of distribution and stability test, the damage rate of fruit decreased about 10~13% compared to current packaging material PSP, and the maximum load was about 4 times higher. This study is significant as it developed a packing design not only the distribution stability point of view but also the design approach. However, there is a need for follow up studies about correlation between sustainble design approach and distribution stability test.

      • 과실 유통 안전성을 위한 일체형 난좌 및 포장디자인에 대한 연구

        오늘날 농산물은 품질을 바탕으로 한 브랜드 전략이 필요한 시점이다. 과실 포장디자인은 안전성과 심미성을 동시에 고려하여야 한다. 소비자는 상품선택 단계에서 상품의 내용물만이 아닌 상품을 담고 있는 포장디자인에 의해 브랜드를 구매하게 된다. 소비자와의 접점에서 소비자의 구매력에 긍정적인 영향을 미치고 제품의 만족도를 높이는 포장디자인은 상품의 가격을 좌우하는 역할을 하게 된다. 본 연구에서는 과실 포장에 있어서 안전성과 심미성을 고려한 일체형 난좌 포장박스를 개발하고, 개발된 포장박스가 소비자 태도 및 구매의도에 영향을 미치는 지에 대해 분석하였다. 소비자반응의 관찰 조사를 위해 패턴언어 중심과 시각언어 중심으로 연구모형을 추출하여 개발된 포장디자인에 대한 소비자의 선호도를 교차 분석하였다. 그 결과 소비자는 개발한 박스 디자인이 구매 의도에도 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 소비자 태도는 구매 의도에도 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 본 연구에서는 과일박스의 난좌형 포장 지기구조 개선을 통해 프리미엄급 특화 상품의 포장 개선을 이루어 과실의 브랜드화 전략에 큰 힘을 실을 수 있을 것으로 기대하며, 유통 상의 안전성은 물론 상품의 경쟁력 확보와 과실 박스의 과대포장에 대한 문제점을 해결함으로써 사회적 처리비용 및 환경문제에 동참하는 결과를 이룰 수 있었다. Today is the time that agricultural products need a brand strategy based on the quality. At the stage of the product selection, consumers make a decision of purchase by the design of packaging that contains products, rather than products themselves. At the interface with consumers, the packaging design affects the consumers’ purchasing power positively and raise the level of the satisfaction of products, thereby playing a role of determining the price of products. In this study, the integrated setter tray packaging box has been developed in consideration of the safety and aesthetics of fruit packaging, and whether the developed packaging box would affect consumers’ attitude and purchasing intention was analyzed. In order to investigate the reaction of consumers, the research models were built based on pattern language and visual language, respectively, and the cross analysis for the consumers’ preference for the aforementioned packaging design was performed. The analysis indicated that both the developed box design and the consumers’ attitude had a positive impact on consumers" purchasing intention. This study suggested that the improvement in the setter tray type structural packaging could empower the fruit brand strategy by the packaging improvement for the premium class specialized products. Moreover, it was suggested that such design improvement could achieve the competitiveness of products and the resolution of the problem of excessive packaging of fruits as well as the safety on distribution, thereby eventually resulting in contribution to tackling the problems of social processing costs and environmental issues.
