In-camera VFX implementation study using short-throw projector (focused on low-cost solution)

LI PENGHUI,김기홍,이준석 한국인터넷방송통신학회 2022 International Journal of Internet, Broadcasting an Vol.14 No.2

As an important part of virtual production, In-camera VFX is the process of shooting actual objects and virtual three-dimensional backgrounds in real-time through computer graphics technology and display technology, and obtaining the final film. In the In-camera VFX process, there are currently only two types of medium used to undertake background imaging, LED wall and chroma key screen. Among them, the In-camera VFX based on LED wall realizes background imaging through LED display technology. Although the imaging quality is guaranteed, the high cost of LED wall increases the cost of virtual production. The In-camera VFX based on chroma key screen, the background imaging is realized by real-time keying technology. Although the price is low, due to the limitation of real-time keying technology and lighting conditions, the usability of the final picture is not high. The short-throw projection technology can compress the projection distance to within 1 meter and get a relatively large picture, which solves the problem of traditional projection technology that must leaving a certain space between screen and the projector, and its price is relatively cheap compared to the LED wall. Therefore, in the In-camera VFX process, short-throw projection technology can be tried to project backgrounds. This paper will analyze the principle of short-throw projection technology and the existing In-camera VFX solutions, and through the comparison experiments, propose a low-cost solution that uses short-throw projectors to project virtual backgrounds and realize the In-camera VFX process.

The Analysis of JetBlue Airways' Strategy through TRIZ Techniques as Management Case Study

        정상철 한국경영교육학회 2013 경영교육연구 Vol.28 No.5

This paper examined the successful strategies of low cost airplanes such as JetBlue Airways in the United States of America as it applied TRIZ approaches. Specifically, this study seeks to answer two questions: How has TRIZ technologies been applied in low cost carrier(LCC) industry? And what lessons can be learned from this successful case? This paper employs a case of low cost carrier of JetBlue Airways to gain the important information about the successful strategies in the airline industry. The case study is the methodology which the focus is on a contemporary phenomenon within low cost carrier(LCC) industry. The findings reveal that the low cost carrier company successfully has been using a number of TRIZ techniques in creating cost saving, establishing a performance-based human resource management system, and operating fun management and cost control procedures. The success of the companies’ change efforts is largely attributed to leadership, standardization of management system, commitment to learning and training of employees with CEO. JetBlue Airways is offering passengers low fares, high quality service, took passengers direct (i.e., "point to point") between midsize cities that were often less than 500 miles apart and, used secondary airports serving major metropolitan areas. JetBlue Airways was able to maintain high levels of plane utilization, thereby keeping its operating costs low enough to support its discounted fares. Findings of this paper are limited by one case study only. Future research is needed to study more cases of success where TRIZ techniques have been applied. Future research is also warranted to identify original TRIZ technologies which are used by other low cost carriers.
