        Extracting curved text lines using the chain composition and the expanded grouping method

        본 논문은 정형화되지 않은 텍스트 라인들을 추출하기 위한 방법을 보여주고 있다. 텍스트 라인들은 각기 다른 각도로 구성되고, 심하게 굴곡이 있는 모양, 그리고 텍스트 라인내의 약간의 단어 사이의 공간이 생기게 된다. 그러한 텍스트 라인들은 포스터, 주소, 그리고 예술 문서 등에서 발견된다. 제안하는 방법은 기존의 직관적인 그룹핑 방법에 기반을 두고 있지만, 하나의 라인에서 발생하는 불충분한 특징점들과 모호한 회전 등을 극복하기 위한 방법을 개발하였다. 본 논문에서 텍스트 라인들은 몇 개의 연결된 성분들로 구성되고, 이 성분들은 하나의 문자 또는 연결된 문자들의 검은색 화소들의 집합이라고 가정하였다. 제안하는 방법은 반복적으로 증가되는 임계값과 가까운 성분들은 하나의 체인으로 병합하게 되고 확장되어 길어진 체인들은 라인의 원시 체인으로서 인지된다. 그때 원시 체인들은 텍스트 라인의 부분적 회전에 따라 좌우로 확장되어 진다. 텍스트 라인의 부분적인 회전은 원시 체인이 확장될 때, 체인들의 각 면에서 재구성될 것이다. 이러한 과정을 통해서 모든 텍스트 라인들이 구성되어 진다. 제안 방법은 로고와 슬로건에서 사용된 곡면으로 쓰여진 텍스트 라인들에 대해서 실험한 결과 직선 텍스트 라인은 98%, 곡선 텍스트 라인은 94%로서 높은 추출율을 보여주고 있다. In this paper, we present a method to extract the text lines in poorly structured documents. The text lines may have different orientations, considerably curved shapes, and there are possibly a few wide inter-word gaps in a text line. Those text lines can be found in posters, blocks of addresses, artistic documents. Our method based on the traditional perceptual grouping but we develop novel solutions to overcome the problems of insufficient seed points and vaned orientations un a single line. In this paper, we assume that text lines contained tone connected components, in which each connected components is a set of black pixels within a letter, or some touched letters. In our scheme, the connected components closer than an iteratively incremented threshold will make together a chain. Elongate chains are identified as the seed chains of lines. Then the seed chains are extended to the left and the right regarding the local orientations. The local orientations will be reevaluated at each side of the chains when it is extended. By this process, all text lines are finally constructed. The proposed method is good for extraction of the considerably curved text lines from logos and slogans in our experiment; 98% and 94% for the straight-line extraction and the curved-line extraction, respectively.

        On-line high speed lipid extraction for nanoflow liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry

        <P>]An on-line lipid extraction method is introduced by utilizing a short capillary extraction column using HILIC and C4 particles prior to nanoflow liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (nLC-MS/MS). The on-line extraction using a urine sample spiked with PL standards showed similar or slightly higher recovery values (86%-96%) of phospholipids (PLs) compared to those obtained by the conventional off-line extraction based on the Folch method with or without using the air-exposed drying process. In this study, we demonstrated that PL oxidation can occur during the air-exposed drying process of lipid extracts in standard liquid-liquid extraction procedures, which was confirmed by the oxidized PL (OxPL) molecules that were generated from an off-line extraction using a few PL standards. Quantitative comparison of these OxPL species between on- and off-line extraction followed by nLC-MS/MS with multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) analysis showed a significant decrease (2-10 fold) in unwanted OxPL species when on-line extraction was employed. While the number of identified PLs from a urine sample was somewhat lower than those by off-line extraction, the number of OxPLs was significantly reduced (from 70 to 22) with on-line extraction. The new method offers high speed (similar to 5 min) automated extraction of PLs with nLC-MS/MS analysis and presents the possibility of handling a biological sample with a very limited amount of lipids.       • A novel laser line detection algorithm for robot application

        In this paper, we proposed a novel laser line detection method for robot applications using laser scan line. The method is a robust algorithm dealing with many challenges of line detection, particularly in laser line detection, such as the saturation phenomenon of laser light, the effects of white ambient light and the segmentation of laser scan line caused by obstacles. First, the method takes advantages of color space in order to enhance laser signal and reduce the effects of white ambient light for distinguishing as well as increasing the accuracy of line detection algorithm. After that, it automatically estimates the saturation of laser light and adjusts the exposure by capturing a sequence of images with different exposures. Finally, a robust line segment extraction algorithm is applied to extract the real laser line segments and form the detected laser scan line. The experiment results with various scenes and lighting conditions show the accuracy and robustness of the proposed method.

        논 잡초 방제용 자율주행 로봇을 위한 벼의 형태학적 특징 기반의 주행기준선 추출

        In this paper, we proposed a new algorithm of the guidance line extraction for autonomous weeding robot based on infrared vision sensor in wet paddy. It is the critical process for guidance line extraction which finds the central point or area of rice row. In order to improve accuracy of the guidance line, we are trying to use the morphological characteristics of rice that the direction of rice leaves have convergence to central area of rice row. Using Hough transform, we were represented the curved leaves as a combination of segmented straight lines on binary image that has been skeletonized and segmented object. A slope of the guidance line was gotten as calculate the average slope of all segmented lines. An initial point of the guidance line was determined that is the maximum pixel value of the accumulated white columns of a binary image which is rotated the slope of guidance line in the opposite direction. We also have verified an accuracy of the proposed algorithm by experiments in the real wet paddy.

        Feature extraction for margin lines using region growing with a dynamic weight function in a one-point bidirectional path search

        A margin line, defined as the boundary curve of the contact area between a prepared tooth and a dental restoration, considerably influences the end shape of the dental restoration design. Most studies that have extracted margin lines from mesh models representing prepared teeth have faced convergence problems in the path search and therefore pose the inconvenience of specifying multiple input points as intermediate goal points. To overcome these problems, in this study, we propose a bidirectional path-search algorithm using a single input point. First, the algorithm classifies all nodes in a mesh model into a margin or fuzzy region to increase search efficiency. Then, the search starts from one point and proceeds on two paths in opposite directions, using the current node of the opposite path as the temporary goal of the currently searched path. During the search, a dynamic evaluation function that varies weights according to the region type is employed to improve the path convergence. Finally, to increase the practicality of the algorithm, the jagged initial margin line is converted into a smooth spline curve using an energy-minimization function specialized for margin lines. To evaluate the proposed algorithm, margin lines extracted from various types of prepared teeth are demonstrated and compared with those created using some relevant previous works and a commercial dental computer-aided design (CAD) system. The comparison verified that accurate margin lines could be calculated with only one input point using the proposed algorithm. Moreover, the proposed algorithm showed better performance for crown and inlay/only experimental models compared with a commercial dental CAD system under the same conditions.

        산업용 CR 영상분석과 국부확률 선군집화에 의한 용접특징추출

        산업용 방사선영상으로부터 신뢰할만한 용접부위를 추출하는 것은 용접부의 결함을 검출하기 이전에 수행해야할 선행과제이다. 이 논문은 강판튜브 CR영상으로부터 용접특징 부위의 검출과 추출을 시도한다. 먼저 용접부위와 비용접부위로 구분된 샘플영상 160(개)를 통계 분석하여 두 부류 사이의 차이를 식별한다. 그 후 군집화 파라미터 결정을 위한 패턴분류 작업을 실시한다. 이 파라미터들은 간격, 함수부합정도 및 연속성이다. 관측된 용접영상을 선(線)별로 처리하되 각 선데이터군(群)에 가변 이동창을 적용하여 구역을 선점한다. 각 창을 구성하는 데이터의 용접 및 비용접부위 귀속여부는 국부확률선군집화 방식을 적용하여 분류한다. 순차적 과정을 거쳐 매 단계마다의 경계치 산출에 의해 두 영역 사이의 경계선을 추적하며 그 결과 용접특징부위를 추출한다. 그리고 CR용접영상 실험을 통해 그 효과를 입증한다. A reliable extraction of welded area is the precedent task before the detection of weld defects in industrial radiography. This paper describes an attempt to detect and extract the welded features of steel tubes from the computed radiography(CR) images. The statistical properties are first analyzed on over 160 sample radiographic images which represent either weld or non-weld area to identify the differences between them. The analysis is then proceeded by pattern classification to determine the clustering parameter. These parameters are the width, the functional match, and continuity. The observed weld image is processed line by line to calculate these parameters for each flexible moving window in line image pixel set. The local statistic line-clustering method is used as the classifier to recognize each window data as weld or non-weld cluster. The sequential procedure is to track the edge lines between two distinct regions by iterative calculation of threshold, and it results in extracting the weld feature. Our methodology is concluded to be effective after experiment with CR weld images.

        Hydrogen peroxide에 의해 유도된 남성 생식 세포 GC-1 cell에 미치는 五子衍宗丸의 효과 연구

        Objectives : The purpose of this study was to investigate the antioxidant activity of water extract of Ojayeonjonghwan (OYH) in GC-1 germ cell lines. Methods : DPPH radical scavenging activity and cell viability assays in GC-1 germ cell lines were performed. In addition, the protective effects of OYH against hydrogen peroxide-induced oxidative stress in GC-1 germ cell lines were examined by measuring cell viability after H2O2 treatmet. The formation of ROS and the antioxidant enzymes activity such as SOD and catalase were measured in the same condition. Results : OYH scavenged DPPH radical dose-dependent manner and the IC50 was 63.79 μg/ml. OYH showed no cytotoxicity at concentration of 1, 10, 100 μg/ml. The hydrogen peroxide-induced cytotoxicity of GC-1 germ cell lines was protected to 53.66% by OYH at concentration of 10 μg/ml. OYH effectively inhibited ROS production in GC-1 germ cell lines. Mn SOD and catalase protein expression were significantly increased in GC-1 germ cell lines, but Cu/Zn SOD protein expression was not significantly changed. Conclusions : In conclusion, OYH has antioxidant activities against hydrogen peroxide-induced oxidative stress in GC-1 germ cell lines.

      • 고등균류에서 분리한 열수추출물의 in vitro 항암효과

        The extract of Basidiomycetes induces potent antitumor immunity in tumor-bearing mice. The study was set up to elucidate the anti-cancer effects of various mushroom extract against human cancer cell lines. The mushroom extract was prepared from the fruit body of many types of Basidiomycetes: Poria cocos, Ganoderma lucidum, Ganoderma oregonence. Ganoderma applanatum, Ganoderma tusgae. Fomitella fraxinea. Laetiporus sulphureus, Phellinus lintenus, Agaricus brazei. Most extracts showed cytotoxicity on human cancer cell line: hepatocytoma (SNU 387), human colon carcinoma (SNU C4)and human gastric adenocarcinoma (SNU-1). The highest anticancer effect(83.1% cytotoxicity) of tested samples occurs with Ganoderma applanatum extract on human hepatocytoma SNU 387 cell line. In conclusion, the low molecular extract(<10,000 M. W) of Basidiomycetes hot extract was higher anticancer effect than that the high molecular()10.000 M. W) extract on A549, SNU-1, SNU C4. and SNU 387 human cancer cell line.

        인체암세포주에 대한 천연자원의 세포독성 검색 (Ⅱ)

        In our continuing search for new antineoplastic agents from natural products, one hundred and thirty-five herbal drugs were extracted with petroleum ether/ether (1:1), ethyl acetate and methyl alcohol, successively and their cytotoxicities were evaluated against A549 (human lung carcinoma) and SK-OV-3(human ovary adenocarcinoma) cell lines. Among them, fifteen kinds of ether extracts, eighteen kinds of ethyl acetate extracts and seven kinds of methanol extracts showed significant cytotoxic activities (above 70% inhibition) against A549 cell lines at a concentration of $40\;{\mu}g/ml,$ while ten kinds of ether extracts, thirteen kinds of ethyl acetate extracts and six kinds of methanol extracts demonstrated significant cytotoxic activities against SK-OV-3 cell lines at the above same concentration.

        Robust surface segmentation and edge feature lines extraction from fractured fragments of relics

        Surface segmentation and edge feature lines extraction from fractured fragments of relics are essential steps for computer assisted restoration of fragmented relics. As these fragments were heavily eroded, it is a challenging work to segment surface and extract edge feature lines. This paper presents a novel method to segment surface and extract edge feature lines from triangular meshes of irregular fractured fragments. Firstly, a rough surface segmentation is accomplished by using a clustering algorithm based on the vertex normal vector. Secondly, in order to differentiate between original and fracture faces, a novel integral invariant is introduced to compute the surface roughness. Thirdly, an accurate surface segmentation is implemented by merging faces based on face normal vector and roughness. Finally, edge feature lines are extracted based on the surface segmentation. Some experiments are made and analyzed, and the results show that our method can achieve surface segmentation and edge extraction effectively.
