본 연구는『옥외광고학연구』에 게재된 논문을 ‘초창기’(2004~2007)와 ‘발전기’(2008~2012)의 두 시기로 나누어 두 기간 동안 논문의 연구경향에 관한 요소들을 메타분석하겠다. 연구 결과 『옥외광고학연구』 9년간 가장 빈번히 언급되는 키워드는 “옥외광고”였으며, ‘초창기’에는 옥외광고의 현장 용어나 부속적 용어들이 주요키워드이다가 ‘발전기’로 갈수록 과학적 개념과 옥외광고의 구체적 유형이 자주 등장하였다. 『옥외광고학연구』필자들의 전공의 지형은 ‘초창기’에는 광고홍보 전공자와 디자인 전공자의 비율이 약 51%대 45%로 균형을 이루다가 이후에는 약 71% 대 5%로 큰 변화를 보였다. 이밖에 인접한 분야의 다양한 전공자들이 전체의 12.5%에 이르러 점차 옥외광고 연구의 전공 지형이 다양해졌다. 방법론적으로는 ‘발전기’로 갈수록 정량적 방식의 과학적인 방법론(실험, 서베이, 내용분석, 등)과 공인된 정성적 방법의 적용 사례가 늘어난 반면, 에세이식의 방법론적 토대가 없는 논문의 비중은 대폭 줄어들었다. 이론에 있어서는 "발전기"로 갈수록 이론의 지형이 매우 다양해지고 무이론적 연구가 대폭 줄어들었다. This study investigate the research trends of Journal of Outdoor Advertising Research by meta-analysis on the two periods, early period(2004~2007) and growing period(2008~2012). The results show that the most frequent key word is “Outdoor Advertising”, followed by the field jargons and subordinate concepts in early period, and scientific concepts and classifications of outdoor advertising in growing period, respectively. Majors of outdoor advertising researchers were balanced to be 51% vs. 45% in early period, but skewed drastically (71% vs. 5%) later. There comes the diversity of researchers" backgrounds in outdoor advertising by having upto 12.5% from nearby fields. Methodologically, more studies have been done by quantitative and scientifical methods, such as experiment, survey, and content analysis, and less studies of essay-type without any methodological background, in growing period of the Journal. More diversity is found in theories quoted and less studies without theoretical implication in growing period of the Journal.
