Japan has succeeded in developing the necessary headlamp technologies and commercializing the world's first headlamp utilizing white LED's. The LED headlamp also was applied to both Audi R8 in Europe and Cadillac Escalade Platinum in UAS in 2008. Because of the trend of global considering LED Headlamp, development to apply to LED headlamp in Korea is processing actively. However, LED headlamp have to use the high bright LED and heavy heat dispassion systems to proceed headlamp performance. Because of the structure problems weight and cost of the LED headlamp are risen. Therefore, for affordable cost of LED headlamp, the technical study is necessary. In this study, Prototype LED headlamp is made and evaluated luminous intensity, fuel consumption and exhaust gas with halogen headlamp. In the results of this study, the luminous intensity performance of LED headlamp is better and more eco-friendly then halogen headlamp.

Due to the rapid progress in LED(Light Emitted Diode) light sources, Recently LED have been widely applied in automotive lighting devices. These facts make new applications in the field of automotive headlamp. In this study, an overview of trends of technology of LED headlamp were investigated and performed various experiments using LED headlamp. Photometric characteristics, 5 lx line of road surface, glare and emotional evaluation of LED headlamp were investigated using photometric equipment. The experimental results were compared with those of halogen and HID(high intensity discharge) lamp. Consequently, light distribution and beam width of LED headlamp were inferior to halogen and HID headlamp but LED headlamp with a luminance value camparable or slightly higher than halogen and HID headlamp will be produced in the near future.

Aging of general population structure has become one of the major issues in various social change these days in Korea. So, many researches have been performed to develop elder friendly devices and vehicle for older drivers. In this study, one of headlamp system for elder friendly vehicle, adaptive headlamp under rainy weather is being developed. Prototype adaptive headlamp were manufactured using D2S(High intensity discharge bulb) light source. Illuminance and luminance distribution of adaptive headlamp are investigated to evaluate its performance. Forty six subjects of two groups (drivers under and over age 65) participated in experiment. The questionnaires were performed about various driving habits and conditions with all of subjects. Glare index and forward visibility were evaluated by observing in driver's seat against oncoming test vehicle with three kinds of headlamps such as halogen, HID and adaptive headlamp. From the results, Illuminance and luminance distribution of adaptive headlamp were much lower than others in the near field. Glare of adaptive headlamp for adverse weather was superior to those of HID headlamp at 10~20m ahead. Forward visibility performances of adaptive headlamp was comparable to those of HID headlamp.
도로곡률에 따른 AFLS 전조등 최적 회전각도에 관한 연구

Headlamps are important safety components in ensuring good forward visibility and informing oncoming vehicles of their own presence at night. Lots of new technology were applied in headlamps. AFLS(Adaptive Front Lighting System) means a lighting device, providing beams with differing characteristics for automatic adaptation to varying conditions of use of the dipped-beam and main-beam. In this paper, Optimum swivel angle of AFLS headlamp were investigated using two kinds of prototypes of head lamp. Visibility of AFLS headlamp was evaluated using the eye mark camera in various road conditions such as highway and national road. As a result, optimum swivel angel of AFLS head lamp was 19° considering a variety of road curvature and No glare swivel angle was 24°. AFLS head lamps were very useful to improve visibility during driving at night.

Technologies have been developed actively to enhance safe driving in the intelligent automobile technology field and the head lamp technology is taking an important part of the development. Currently, adaptive front lighting system integrated with camera or navigation is under development, and it provides the beam pattern actively optimized according to various road conditions to give a wider view to enhance safe driving, and this study intends to develop an optimized method for evaluating the system which integrates the camera technology and navigation technology with the head lamp technology. An environment capable of evaluating head lamp technology with navigation and camera was developed in a simple actuator control technology oriented evaluation environment by using the vehicle simulator and GPS radiation system.

철도차량용 전조등은 운전사가 전방의 장애물을 눈으로 보고 알게 하기 위한 것이 아니라 열차진행방향에 있는 사람이 접근하는 열차를 보고 알 수 있게 하기 위한 표지이다. 최근 LED 전조등이 철도차량에 사용되고 있다. 그러나 LED는 공급전력에 대부분을 열로 발산하고 이로 인한 온도상승으로 LED의 수명을 급격하게 감소시키는 것으로 알려져 있다. 이와 같이 LED는 고출력일수록 방열문제라는 근본적인 문제점을 가지고 있어 이에 대한 방안으로 자연대류, 강제대류, 히트파이프, 액체냉각 기술 등이 사용되고 있다. 그러므로 본 연구에서는 30만 칸데라급 이상의 고휘도 COB LED 전조등 개발에 필요한 방열장치에 대해 열해석 시뮬레이션을 통해 방열성능과 최적의 방열구조를 도출하고자 하였다. Railway vehicle headlamp is a cover for allowing the driver to know to find it reported in the eyes of the obstacles ahead, not looking at the person approaching train in the train traveling direction. Recessed LED headlights are used in rail vehicles. However, LED is known to dissipate most of the heat and sharply reduced the life of the LED with temperature rise due to this power supply. Thus, high-power LED is used like the more I have a fundamental problem of natural convection heat this issue as a way of forced convection, heat pipes, liquid cooling technology. Therefore, this study through the thermal analysis simulation for heat sinks necessary for the development of more than 30 million grade Cd high-brightness COB LED headlights was to derive optimum heat sink and heat sink structure.

LEDs (Light Emitting Diode) become more significant in exterior automotive lighting systems since they have been applied to CHMSL (Center High Mounted Stop Lamps) in 1990s. The LEDs are environmental friendly as well as energy saving light sources. They also provide long life and virtually unlimited styling potential in automotive headlamp applications. However, the chromaticity characteristics and the heat dissipation of LED headlamps are much different from conventional headlamps such as HID and halogen. An appropriate heat dissipation in LED headlamps is necessary for practical usage. In this study, we develop a heat dissipation system for an LED headlamp using CFD (Computerized Fluid Design) method. The prototype of LED headlamp is evaluated with respect to chromaticity performance using an anti-heat chamber. The developed LED headlamp shows a good visibility performance while further development for chromaticity is still necessary.

기후환경조건에서 색온도 가변 전조등이 시인성에 미치는 효과를 확인하기 위하여 소비자 평가를 실시하였다. 이를 위해 인공안개와 강우를 구현할 수 있는 기후환경 테스트베드 내에 전방에는 차량번호판, 후부반사기, 및 랜돌트 링이 부착된 자동차모형을, 측면에는 도로 곡선 표지판을, 그리고 바닥면에는 유사노면에 백색과 황색으로 도색한 차선을 제시하였다. 대학생 집단과 중장년 집단으로 구성된 실험참가자들은 먼저, 상이한 기후 및 전조등 색온도 조건에서 전방 약 10m에 위치한 디스플레이에 제시되는 다양한 크기의 랜돌트 링에서 열린 부분이 어느 쪽인지를 판단하고 반응하는 시각탐지과제를 수행하였다. 이어서, 동일한 실험자들을 대상으로 다양한 시각 표적들로 구성된 시각적 환경에 대한 전조등 색온도의 영향을 확인하기 위하여 시인성과 선호도를 5점 척도로 평가하도록 하였다. 마지막으로, 차량모형에 부착된 랜돌트 링의 열린 방향을 확인 · 표시하고, 바닥면에 일정한 간격과 거리로 배열된 아드리안 표적에 대한 시인성을 7점 척도로 평정하도록 하였다. 평가 결과, 시각탐지과제에서는 두 집단 모두 전조등의 색온도가 높을 때보다 낮을 때에 반응시간이 빠른 경향을 보였다. 차량모형에 부착된 랜돌트 링의 열린 방향 표시 정확도는 안개조건에서 색온도가 낮을 때 유리한 경향이 있었고, 아드리안 표적의 시인성 평정에서는 중 장년 집단이 기후조건 모두 저색온도에서 높은 점수를 보였으나, 대학생 집단은 안개조건의 저색온도와 강우조건의 고색온도에서 높은 점수를 보였다. 시인성과 선호도 평정 결과는 대학생 집단이 고색온도에서 높은 점수를 보인 반면, 중 장년 집단은 기후에 따라 달랐다. 본 연구의 결과는 연령에 따라 약간의 차이는 있지만, 저색온도의 LED 전조등이 악천후 기후조건에서 차량과 도로 표적의 시인성에 유리함을 시사한다.
내비게이션을 이용한 DBL (Dynamic Bending Light) 시스템의 평가방법 개발

An environment capable of evaluating the bending angle of the head lamp system integrated with the navigation was developed in a simple actuator control technology oriented evaluation environment by using the vehicle simulator and GPS radiation system, and this predicts the road curvature using the navigation and evaluates the change in the beam pattern of the head lamp according to the road curvature.
