Due to recent environmental regulations in the automobile industry and the expansion of the electric⋅hybrid vehicle market, vehicle weight reduction technology is emerging as a key factor influencing market competitiveness. Demand for aluminum alloy instead of steel is increasing driven by the demand to reduce vehicle weight. However, due to the low formability of aluminum alloys, the application area in the automotive industry is limited. To improve this limitation, electromagnetic forming(EMF) has been proposed. EMF is a high-speed forming technology that applies a strong electromagnetic field to a metal workpiece to form the workpiece at high speed and within a short time. In this paper, it was confirmed that formability was improved through electromagnetic forming using finite element analysis.

In the multi-stage shape drawing process, the most important aspect for the economy is the correct design of the various drawing stage. For most of the products commonly available round or square materials can be used as initial material. However, special products should be prerolled. This study proposes a process design method of multi-stage shape drawing process for producing cross roller guide. Firstly, a standard classification of shape drawing process is suggested based on the requirement of pre-rolling process. And a design method is proposed to design the intermediate die shape. The process design method is applied to design the multistage shape drawing process for producing cross roller guide. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed design method is verified by FE-analysis and shape drawing experiment.

The objective of this research works is to propose a rapid development methodology of small size deep drawing tools for electronic parts utilizing the technology combination of CAE and RP/RT. The technology is applied to the development of deep drawing tools with a drain shape. The final surface of tools is obtained from the evaluation of the formability using the CAE. In order to manufacture the physical prototype of tools for try-out forming, several fabrication experiments are carried out for three types of rapid tool manufacturing technology. Through the fabrication experiments, the acceptable rapid manufacturing technologies of deep drawing tools with a small size have been proposed.

Recently, the exhaust system of automobile has been changing materials with stainless steel sheets for quality improvement and life-cycle prolongation. But there are various problems occured in forming stainless steel sheets such as scratch, local fracture, earing. It is very important to improve the formability of stainless steel sheets. In this study, it has performed FLD(forming limit diagram) through an experiment to check out the formability of STS 436 sheets and the forming analysis about resonator case in exhaust system parts.

Draw-bead is applied to control the material flow in sheet metal forming process and improve the product quality by providing sufficient draw-bead restraining force (DBRF). However, actual die design depends mostly on the trial-and-error method without the accurate prediction of DBRF and the normal force. Die design with the predicted value of them can be utilized effectively to reduce the cost and time. In order to construct a prediction model, process parameters, which affects significantly to DBRF and the normal force, are selected as design variables. At first, the prediction model without considering the effect of BHF is constructed using the Box-Behnken design which is the most representative DOE method. Results obtained from finite element analysis are approximated with the second order regression model. It provides the maximum value of DBRF and the normal force because the male bead fully presses down the sheet. After that, the variation of DBRF with respect to the change of BHF is approximated with the first order regression model by adopting the fractional factorial design. It provides the equation for the scale factor with respect to the change of process parameters. Using two equations, DBRF can be obtained in general sheet metal forming process. To verify the reliability of the prediction model, results obtained from the prediction model are compared with them obtained from finite element analysis.

Sheet metal forming has some merits that are less loss of materials in process, less time-consuming and it makes mass product possible. The product produced by sheet metal forming process has high strength compared to the weight and better surface characteristics. Therefore, sheet metal forming process is a lot used in automobiles, aircrafts, electronics and appliances. This paper made the process design for forming Bracket Front Back Frame Lower, determined the blank shape and size using PAM-STAMP, commercial software and evaluated formability. It has been proved that the optimal blank through the result forming analysis has advantage in terms of formability and spring back compared to the rectangular blank.
