      • Improvement of Oral Environment Indices of Oral Preventive Care Program, and Change in Oral Health-related Behaviors based on Dental Hygiene Process

        This study aims to ensure the autonomy of dental hygienists through an oral preventive care program based on the dental hygiene process, and to provide basic data to support systematic and professional oral care. It was intended to determine changes in patients’ oral-related knowledge, awareness, practice, OHB and other various oral hygiene care indices through the dental hygiene process. Data analysis was performed using IBM SPSS Statistics (version 21.0), and statistical significance level was set at p<0.05. Frequency analysis was performed for general characteristics and two-way repeated measures ANOVA was performed to compare changes in the oral health care indices of the dental hygiene process. In addition, paired t-test was performed to compare differences in oral health knowledge, awareness, practice and OHB, and bivariate correlation analysis was performed to determine correlations between them. In the results of this study, it was found that there were significant decreases in S-0HI, PSR Score and BOP, O’Leary through the dental hygiene process, showing that the oral preventive care program was effective (p<.001). Oral health knowledge, awareness, practice and OHB were also found to be significantly increased, revealing that there were positive changes (p<.001). It is expected that the clinical application of this dental hygiene program would be established as an effective manual to improve the oral environment.

        표준화된 치위생학과 계속구강건강관리 프로그램의 효과

        The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of standardized oral health care program by dental hygiene school students. Target population was 100 University students who attended standardized oral health care program by a dental hygiene school students. Present study was conducted during first and second semester in 2011 at E dental hygiene school. We analysed students`` oral health related knowledge, attitude, behavior, and self-oral hygiene care ability after the program. Univariate analysis, Chi-square test and paired t-test were conducted using SAS version 9.2. University students`` who attended standardized oral health care program by dental hygiene school students oral health related knowledge, attitude, behavior, and self oral-hygiene care ability were significantly improved whether they have attended oral health related lectures or not(p<.05). It is recommended provide standardized oral health care program to university students by dental hygiene school students to promote their oral health related knowledge, attitude, behavior, and self-oral hygiene care ability.

        일부 보건소 모자보건실 연계 비외과적 치주처치 중심의 치위생관리 프로그램 운영 사례연구

        This research was conducted by targeting pregnant women in the trial operation of dental hygiene care program with the focus on non-surgical periodontal treatments at the Maternal and Child Health center in the public health center. This study was conducted to provide basic data to dental hygienists who operate oral health promotion programs by targeting pregnant women of the local community through the evaluation on structure, the assessment process and results from the pilot program at the public health center. The targets are nine pregnant women who have been involved in the Dental hygiene care program three times. An evaluation on the structure, process and results according to the Indicators of each program were conducted. The results of dental hygiene care program found that the retention rate decreased. The retention of the probing pocket depth larger than 4mm was 40.4% to 14.0%(p<0.05). The retention rate of the gingival bleeding teeth was 4.6% to 2.7% (p=0.180). PHP Index improved. 1.7 points in the 1st to 1.4 points in the 3rd in the case of the second pregnant woman and 2.4 points in the 1st to 1.3 points (p<0.05) in the 3rd in the case of the third pregnant woman. The applicable and expandable possibility of the dental hygiene care program with the focus on non-surgical periodontal treatments at the Community Health Center is significant in the result of this study. In the future, long-term operation and ongoing monitoring of this program is needed. 본 연구는 제천시보건소 모자보건실을 이용하는 임산부를 대상으로 비외과적 치주처치 중심의 치위생관리 프로그램을 시범운영하고, 시범운영의 구조평가, 과정평가, 결과평가를 통하여 보건소에서 치과위생사가 지역사회 임산부를 대상으로 구강건강증진 프로그램을 운영하는데 기초자료로 제공하기 위해 수행되었다. 총 3회의 치위생관리 프로그램에 모두 참여한 9명의 임산부를 대상으로 하였다. 치위생관리 프로그램 결과 4mm 이상 치주낭 보유율은 40.4%에서 14.0%로(p<0.05), 치은출혈 치아 보유율은 4.6%에서 2.7%로(p=0.180), 치석형성 치아 보유율은 23.7%에서 0%로(p<0.05) 감소하였다. PHP Index(Patient Hygiene Performance index)는 2기 임산부의 경우 1차 1.7점에서 3차 1.4점으로 개선되었고, 3기 임산부의 경우 1차 2.4점에서 1.3점으로 개선되었다(p<0.05). 본 연구 결과 비외과적 치주처치 중심의 치위생관리 프로그램을 보건소 구강보건실에서 적용 및 확대할 수 있는 가능성이 높다는 것에 의의가 있으며, 향후 본 프로그램의 장기적인 운영과 지속적인 모니터링이 필요할 것으로 사료된다.

        국내 대학 치위생(학)과의 포괄치위생관리(CDHC) 과정 적용 교육과정 현황

        Objectives: This study surveyed the application of Comprehensive Dental Hygiene Care (CDHC), based on non-surgical periodontal therapy within the educational curricula of Korean universities and examined whether they recognized the need for CDHC. Methods: This study analyzed data from professors of dental hygiene practicum related subjects in 75 Korean universities. The collected data were analyzed using a Chi-square test, a Mann-Whitney U-test, and a Kruskal Wallis test via SPSS (Ver. 21.0). Results: First, the application scope of CDHC was higher in four-year universities than three-year ones with the scope of several characteristics increasing along with enrollment quota. The application scope of dental hygiene plans and actions increased with the number of patient practices in terms of periodontal evaluations. Second, the needs of the dental hygiene courses were more than 4 points in all characteristics. Although four-year universities exhibited higher points than three-year ones, there was no significant difference found except other test. Finally, all universities based their dental hygiene courses on case histories, oral and maxillofacial information, hard tissue modules, periodontal issues, and other tests, with needs also being high. Meanwhile, the application scope of the dental hygiene course evaluations was lowest in all characteristics. Conclusions: There were no significant differences in dental hygiene curricula among the universities. However, highly qualified and standardized educational courses and lectures should be developed by the Korean evaluation center for dental hygiene curricula using various studies as the basis of theory and practical classes, the total number of terms, number of case studies used, number of students per class, ratio of students to professor, and so on.
