리얼리티 프로그램 시청동기와 만족도에 관한 연구 - 연애 리얼리티 프로그램을 중심으로 -

This study analyzed the Viewing motivation and satisfaction of college students who show active media use behaviors for Dating reality show. Also, based on this, suggestions for revitalizing the production of Dating Reality show were suggested. First, as a result of the analysis of factors for viewing motivation, five factor structures were identified: 'entertainment motivation', 'companion motivation', 'social usefulness motivation', 'learning/information motivation', and 'indirect experience motivation'. Second, as a result of analyzing the effect of factors of Dating reality show viewing motivation on viewing satisfaction, 'entertainment motivation', 'companion motivation' and 'learning/information motivation' were found to be statistically significant, and 'entertainment motivation' was found to have the greatest influence.

양성애자를 재현하는 리얼리티 연애 프로그램의 함의: <좋아하면 울리는 짝!짝!짝!>에 관한 양성애자 시청자의 해독을 중심으로

한국의 리얼리티 연애 프로그램에서는 드물게 <좋아하면 울리는 짝!짝!짝!>에서 양성애자의 서사가 주요하게 다루어졌다. 본 연구는 양성애자 시청자들이 국내 리얼리티 연애 프로그램에서 재현된 양성애를 해독하는 방식을 분석함으로써 양성애자가 미디어와 사회에서 어떻게 위치하고 있는지, 이때 리얼리티 프로그램이라는 장르적 특성이 어떻게 작용하는지 논의한다. 참여자들은 양성애자가 과소재현되는 현실과 프로그램의 퀴어베이팅을 지적하며 양성애자에 대한 왜곡된 이미지 재현을 우려했다. 해당 프로그램은 퀴어 인물과 서사로 당사자들의 갈증을 해소시키지만, 정상성과 이성애로 환원하는 것처럼 보이는 결말은 이성애규범주의를 강화할 수 있다. 그럼에도 이 프로그램은 현실성과 진실성을 표방하는 리얼리티 프로그램의 장르적 특성을 통해 양성애자에 대한자연스러운 재현으로서 의미를 갖는다. 본 연구 결과는 성소수자에 대한 고정관념 형성을 경계하고 성소수자의 다양한 삶과 차이를 충분히 검토한 섬세한 재현방식의 필요성을 제기한다. In a rarity for Korean reality dating shows, the bisexual narrative in <Love Alarm Clap! Clap! Clap!> was featured prominently. This study analyzes the ways in which bisexual viewers decode the representation of bisexuality in domestic reality dating shows, discussing how bisexual individuals are positioned within media and society, and how the genre-specific characteristics of reality programs influence this process. Participants were concerned about the underrepresentation of bisexuals and the program’s queerbaiting, pointing to a distorted image of bisexuality. While <Love Alarm Clap! Clap! Clap!> quenches the thirst of the queer community by featuring queer characters and narratives, the conclusion, which seems to revert to normalcy and heteronormativity, can reinforce heteronormative ideologies. Nevertheless, this program holds significance as a natural representation of bisexuality through the genre-specific traits of reality programs, which emphasize realism and authenticity. The findings of this study highlight the need for cautious portrayal that avoids reinforcing stereotypes about sexual minorities and calls for a more nuanced representation that thoroughly considers the diverse lives and differences within the LGBTQ+ community.

‘국가적 섹슈얼리티(national sexuality)’ 상상: 국내와 해외 ‘리얼리티 데이팅 쇼’의 트랜스내셔널 포맷 분석을 통해

본 연구는 한국과 해외의 ‘리얼리티 데이팅 쇼’가 어떤 방식으로 로컬라이징되어 시청자에게 어떤 의미로 수용되는지를 '국가적 섹슈얼리티(national sexuality)'라는 개념을 통해 분석하고자 한다. 이러한 트랜스내셔널리즘(transnationalism)의 맥락은 ‘국가 영토’라는 경계를 넘어서 ‘프로그램 포맷’이라는 대상이 이동할 때 국가 정체성, 경제적 위치, 정치적 인식 등과 같은 각국의 다양한 지점들이 가시화될 수 있게 한다. 서로 다른 국가들 간의 ‘비교’를 넘어서서 그들 사이의 대상이 국경을 횡단하며 주고받는 ‘상호작용’에 집중했을 때 오히려 포함된 각국이 가지는 개별적 특수성이 드러날 수 있는데 본 연구에서는 그 중 특히 국가 자체의 ‘섹슈얼리티’에 집중할 것이다. 나아가 본 연구는 포맷의 수출, 수입전략에 집중하거나 프로그램의 하위장르가 시청자들의 욕망과 결합하는 방식만을 다루는 국내 선행연구들과는 달리 트랜스내셔널리즘의 맥락에서만 포착할 수 있는 ‘국가적 섹슈얼리티’라는 새로운 개념을 제안하며 ‘리얼리티 데이팅 쇼’의 초국가적 횡단이 개별국가의 섹슈얼리티를 설명할 수 있는 가능성을 살펴보고자 한다. 섹슈얼리티에 대한 사회적 가치체계는 프로그램의 포맷에 반영되고 이를 시청자들이 수용하고 인식하는 과정에서 다시 이 가치체계가 재생산되는 ‘순환’의 과정에 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 순환이 초국가적인 맥락으로 확장됐을 때 ‘국가’ 자체의 섹슈얼리티가 국가 간의 상호작용과 포맷의 로컬라이징을 통해 특정한 방식으로 구조화되는 것을 주장한다.

본 연구는 연애 리얼리티 TV 프로그램에 대한 시청자들의 몰입 및 지속시청 의도에 영향을 미치는 요인들을 살펴보았다. 영향 요인은 크게 연애 관련 신념과 태도(연애관계 효능감, 첫눈에 반하는 태도, 연애에 대한 이상적 기대), 시청에 대한 심리적 경험(인지된 현실감, 공감, 대리만족), 시청 행태(수용 활동, 확산 활동)로 구분하였다. 연애 리얼리티 프로그램의 주 시청층인 20대를 대상으로 온라인 설문조사를 실시하였다. 주요 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 먼저 프로그램 몰입과 관련이 높은 변인은 대리만족, 연애에 대한 이상적 기대, 수용행위 순으로 나타났다. 이는 자신이 할 수 없는 일을 타인이 해내는 것을 보며 느끼는 만족감이 클수록, 연애에 대한 이상적 혹은 비현실적 기대가 클수록, 프로그램에 대한 타인의 의견을 더 많이 접할수록 몰입도가 높아진다는 것을 의미한다. 다음으로 지속시청 의도와 관련이 높은 변인은 대리만족, 인지된 현실감, 연애에 대한 이상적 기대 순으로 나타났다. 이는 타인을 보며 느끼는 만족감이 클수록, 프로그램 내용이 현실과 부합한다고 느낄수록 지속시청 의도가 높다는 것을 의미한다. This study examined factors influencing a viewer’s immersion and intention to continuous watching of dating reality TV shows. The factors were classified into three categories including personal beliefs and attitudes toward romance, psychological viewing experiences, and viewing behaviors. We conduced an online survey on 217 viewers and major findings were as follows. First, factors related to immersion were vicarious satisfaction, ideal expectations for romance, acceptance behavior of social viewing, respectively. Second, factors relevant to intention to continuous watching were vicarious satisfaction, perceived reality, ideal expectations for romance, respectively. Theoretical and practical implications of the results were discussed.

연애 리얼리티 프로그램 <나는 솔로> 시청이 연애 및 결혼 기대감에 미치는 영향 - 사회적 비교와 사회적 시청의 매개효과를 중심으로

The purpose of this study is to investigate how watching the reality dating show leads to viewers’ romantic relationship and marriage expectations. Based on the cultivation theory and the social comparison theory, we examined the effects of watching the reality dating show on romantic relationship and marriage expectations, with social comparison and social viewing as mediating variables. By analyzing survey data from 277 unmarried adults who had watched <I am Solo> on SBS Plus, we found that viewing of the reality dating show was positively related to both romantic relationship and marriage expectations. Regarding the mechanism through which viewing the reality dating show produces the cultivation effects, social comparison played a significant mediating role in the relationship between viewing of the reality dating show and marriage expectation. However, social viewing did not mediate the association. Theoretical and practical implications of the findings are discussed.

<나는 SOLO>의 고전 할리우드 서사 : 연애 리얼리티 프로그램의 재미 유발 기제

이 연구는, ‘스토리텔링에 있어서 대중성과 상업성의 측면에서 주류가 되어 온 고전 할리우드 영화의 서사 원칙이 일반인이 출연하는 연애 리얼리티 프로그램에서도 재현되고 있는가?’라는 연구 문제에 대한 해답을 제공하는 데에 그 목적이 있다. 연애 리얼리티 프로그램의 정통성과 화제성의 중심에 있다고 볼 수 있는 <나는 SOLO>를 연구대상으로 선정하였고, 그중에서도 삼각관계로 인한 출연자의 갈등 등 서사의 전개가 매우 극적이라 할 수 있는 9기의 에피소드를 분석대상으로 선택하였다. 연구 결과, <나는 SOLO>의 서사는, 명확한 성격의 주인공이 연인 만들기라는 특별한 목표를 달성하기 위해 고군분투하여 최종 커플로 맺어지는 플롯 등으로 구성됨으로써, 고전 할리우드 영화의 서사의 원칙을 충실하게 따르고 있음을 확인하였다. The purpose of this study is to provide answers to the the research question, ‘Are the narrative principles of the classical Hollywood cinema, which have been the mainstream of popularity and commerciality in storytelling, reproduced in the reality TV dating show starring non-celebrity cast members?’ I am SOLO, which can be seen as the center of the legitimacy and buzz of the reality TV dating show, was selected as the subject of the study, and among them, the episodes of the ninth cast members, which can be said to be very dramatic in the development of the narrative, such as the conflict of the performer due to the triangle, were selected as the subject of analysis. As a result, it was confirmed that the narrative of I am SOLO faithfully follows the principles of the classical Hollywood narrative by consisting of plots in which the protagonist of a clear character struggles to achieve the special goal of creating a lover and becomes a final couple, and so on.

데이트 쇼 프로그램의 구성형식과 텍스트 분석

본 논문은 데이트 쇼 프로그램인 SBS의 <짝>의 텍스트 구성형식에 나타나고 있는 텔레비전 장르의 특성을 통해 텔레비전 장르의 혼종적(hybrid) 포맷에서 나타나는 특징을 살펴보는데 목적이 있다. 텔레비전 프로그램의 혼종 적 포맷은 텔레비전 프로그램에서 중요하게 비중을 차지하고 있으며, 리얼리티를 강조하여 수용자에게 볼거리를 제공 하는 특징이 있다. 또한 데이트 쇼 프로그램은 수용자의 일상적인 삶과 밀접한 연관성을 가지면서 동시에 출연자와의 동일시를 부추기고 있다는 점에서 중요한 의미가 있다. This paper attempts to the couple formation of date show program SBS <Partner> as a hybrid genre. The characteristic of hybrid program emergent popular formation of television culture in our society, as well as encountered by audiences. It also implies that the visual culture transforms the popular elements of episode of television culture as a reality show program refer to central field of media industries.
