vulgaris, one of the most religious plants in Nepal, is used in the treatment of variousailments. In this study, antioxidative activity of essential oil from A. vulgaris was evaluated, using diferent invitro methods and antimicrobial activity by disc diffusion method against skin disease microorganisms such asStaphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Streptococcus pyogenes, Candida albicans and Propioni-bacterium acnes. The essential oil exhibited a concentration-dependent antioxidant activity. It showed strongmetal chelating activity with low reducing and antioxidant power. However, gradual increase in radicalscavenging activity was obtained with increasing concentration and reaction time. The radical scavenging activity of Artemisia vulgaris essential oil was evaluated by 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH) assay in this study. Artemisia vulgaris essential oil exhibited a strong metal chelating activity but withlow reducing power, and radical scavenging activity. However, a gradual increase in the radical scavenging activity was obtained with increasing concentration and reaction time.
