        김현중,김민수,이은용,박영재,Kim, Hyun-joong,Kim, Min-soo,Lee, Eun-yong,Park, Young-jae 대한침구의학회 2004 대한침구의학회지 Vol.21 No.1

Objective: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of auricular acupuncture therapy by using different techniques combined with common acupuncture treatment on lumbago patients. Methods: 30 patients with lumbago who were hospitalized in Semyung Univ. Oriental Medical Hospital were devided into three groups. Group A of 10 patients were treated by common acupuncture treatment and auricular acupuncture therapy by methods of burying needles. Group B of 10 patients were treatedd by common acupuncture treatment and auricular acupuncture therapy by methods of pricking needles. Group C of 10 patients were treated only by common acupuncture treatment. The pain scale and improvement index of these three groups were evaluated after 10 days of admission. Results: 1. On the score of pain scale, group A and B were both superior to group C, but had no specific difference(p=0.15). 2. On the score of improvement index, group B was superior to group A, and group A was superior to group C(p=0.04). Conclusions: The combination of auricular acupuncture therapy and common acupuncture treatment was more effective than only to use common acupuncture treatment to lumbago patients. Especially, using the auricular acupuncture therapy by pricking methods, was the most effective methods in increasing improvement index.

근거중심의학에 근거한 퇴행성 슬관절염에 관한 침치료 임상선행연구

        김성철,임정아,이종덕,이상관,이성용,문형철,최선미,정영해 대한침구의학회 2006 대한침구의학회지 Vol.23 No.1

Objectives : To determine whether the pragmatic acupuncture treatment provides more effective pain relief than treatment using the same acupuncture point to the all patients. Methods : We randomly allocated participants to treatment group 1 and 2. The group 1 is the pragmatic treatment group and the group 2 is using the same acupuncture point to the all patients. Primary outcomes were measured by the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis index(WOMAC) pain and function scores at 4, 8, and 14 weeks. Secondary outcomes were measured by 100mm VAS(Visual Analog Scale), ROM(Range of Motion) using Goniometer, and pain threshold using pressure algometer. Results : When patients were extension of the knee, they were statistically significant in improvement of the ROM in 14 weeks. Whole body condition and pain rate through VAS measurement were improved significantly in 14 weeks. Also pain score and function score of WOMAC were improved significantly in 14 weeks. We could get difference in pain score of two acupuncture groups significantly in 14 weeks. But we could not get difference in whole score of two acupuncture groups significantly. Local temperature using T.C thermometer was changed significantly in 14 weeks. But we could not get difference in whole score of two acupuncture groups significantly. Excluding above item, DITI, pain threshold, and ROM of the knee flexion were no difference in before and after treatment.

The confirmation of treatment effects in Japanese acupuncture

        Benjamin Chant,Jeanne Madison,Paul Coop,Gudrun Dieberg 한국한의학연구원 2019 Integrative Medicine Research Vol.8 No.1

Background: Japanese acupuncture is gaining international recognition. However, previous research has failed to comprehensively describe the characteristics of Japanese acupuncture by not investigating it within the Japanese clinical environment. This qualitative ethnographic study aimed to identify unique and routine elements of Japanese acupuncture, describe these in detail and examine how they related to treatment principles. Methods: Between August 2012 and December 2016, ethnographic fieldwork was conducted in Japan. Participants were recruited by chain referral and emergent sampling. Data were collected through participant observation and interviews as well as by analyzing documents. A total of 38 participants were recruited. A total of 22 agreed to clinical observation; 221 treatments were observed with 172 patients. Seventeen participants consented to participate in formal interviews and 28 to informal interviews. Thematic analysis was used to evaluate data. Results: That practitioners tended to confirm perceived effects of interventions during treatment, was a major theme interpreted from the data. Confirmation was performed continually throughout treatment and at three different levels of timing and anatomical areas (micro, meso and macro). Many markers signified treatment effects which were in general, perceived by observing and/or palpating body tissue. Belief in the instantaneous effects of treatment and the value of effect through technique exemplify the philosophical foundations of confirmation. Continually monitoring treatment results at a range of time and body location increments is an important element of Japanese acupuncture. Conclusion: This effect confirmation practice model promotes a system of constant feedback gained by repeated intervention and confirmation. This may be a unique feature of Japanese acupuncture.

      • The Clinical Study on the Change in Decreased Visual Acuity by Treatment

Chae,Byung-yoon,Choi,Eun-sung INSTITUTE OF ORIENTAL MEDICINE KYUNG-HEE UNIVERSIT 1996 JOURNAL OF ORIENTAL MEDICINE Vol.1 No.1

Herbal medication and acupuncture treatment have been used for ametropic patients in Oriental Medicine. But, the objective clinical study on remedial value has still not been enough. For objective research, we have treated patients, who decreased visual acuity by refractive condition(for example, myopia, astigmatism, hyperopia), or by amblyopia without organic lesions or other diseases, with herbal medication and acupuncture treatment, and have checked the change of visual acuity every month and took statistics on the changes of visual acuity. The clinical study was performed on 79 patients, who visited the Department of Oph. & Otorhinolaryngology of Oriental Medicine of Kyung Hee University Medical Center, from July 1995 to June 1996. These results couldl be summarized as follows; 1. On the first visit, the visual acuity both eyes was mainly below 0.2, and the average of visual acuity in O.S.(0.24) was worse than in O.D.(0.29). 2. In the difference of visual acuity between O.D. and O.S., the difference after treatment was higher than the first visit. 3. In the changes of visual acuity of O.D. after 1 month's treatment, among the total patients, improved patients were 63.16%, after 2 months' treatment, 64.29%, and after 3 months' treatment, 73.68% each. In O.D. the average of visual acuity after each treatment period was higher than on the first visit, but there was no statistically significant difference between the visual acuity on the first visit and that after each treatment period. In the case of improved visual acuity of O.D. after 1 month's treatment, the average of visual acuity chart's level was +1.88, after 2 months' treatment, +2.19, and after 3 months' treatment, +2.29. 4. In the changes of visual acuity of O.S. after 1 month's treatment, among the total patients, improved patients were 67.11%, after 2 months' treatment, 73.18% and after 3 months' treatment, 73.68% each. In O.S. the average of visual acuity after each treatment period was higher than on the first visit, and there was a statistically significant difference(P<0.01) between the visual acuity on the first visit and that after 1 month's treatment, and after 2 months' treatment, respectively. But, there was no statistically significant difference between the visual acuity on the first visit and that after 3 months' treatment. In the cases of improved visual acuity of O.S. after 1 month's treatment, the average of visual acuity chart's level was +1.92, after 2 months' treatment, +2.29 and after 3 months' treatment, +2.36. 5. In the difference of treatment effective between males and famales, there was no statistically significant difference.
