        해외관광 수요함수추정의 모형비교 및 지출결정요인 연구

        The purpose of this study was to examine the demand and expenditures determinants for outbound tourism. The author used the data of Consumer Expenditure Survey of National Statistical Office in 2014. The author applied the double-hurdle model and Tobit model for the demand and expenditure determinants, and to select the appropriate model, compared the log-likelihood function of the two models. Comparison with the two models is done through a log likelihood ratio test calculated by the estimation of the two log-likelihood function. According to the log-likelihood ratio test, double-hurdle model was identified as an appropriate model. According to the results of double-hurdle model, married, education level, age, house ownership, and income variables have the positive impacts on the participation determinant for outbound travel, and the variables of senior household, family members size in household have negative impacts. In the analysis of expenditures determinants for outbound travel, married and education level variables have positive effects. Ultimately, the results of the survey will be used as an basic information database to develop a domestic tourism policy and marketing strategy in efficient. Also, double-hurdle model and Tobit model applied in the analysis will be utilized in the analysis methodology of the tourism sector.

        교민이 한국의 과일류 수출에 미치는 영향 분석 - Cragg의 Double Hurdle Model을 이용한 접근

        Recently, the effect of immigrants on international trade has been one of the important research topics in international economics. To examine this issue in connection with the agricultural export of Korea, relevant studies has used the panel tobit model to control the observations having zero value. However, theoretically, the tobit model is highly restrictive because it assumes the same consumption and participation effect of immigrant on trade volume. In this paper, with panel data sets covering three important fruit exports of Korea, we estimate these effects separately using the Cragg’s double hurdle model. The important empirical findings are: First, the Cragg’s model is statistically more proper than the tobit model to handle agricultural export data when there are significant zero observations in the sample. Second, the participation effect of immigrants on trade volume is significant while the consumption effect is not so important. Third, the effect of immigrants on Korea’s fruit exports are much bigger than the general goods suggested in the relevant literature.

        자원봉사활동 참여 의사결정

        The purpose of this study is to better recognize how Korean people make participation decisions for volunteer activities. This study also aims to provide improved knowledge on what and how factors associated with socio-demographic and leisure characteristics among Koreans afefct their decisions for volunteer participation and time engaging activities. Using a secondary national usrvey data (N=10,030) released by the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism, we estimated several models (i.e., OLS, Tobit, and double-hurdle models) to identify the best fitting model. As a result, the double-hurdle model was chosen as our final model that shows respondents’ decision-making for volunteer participation. The model indicated that Korean people participated in different volunteer activities through using a two-step approach. The double-hurdle model also provided empirical evidence that younger Korean people were moer willing to participate in volunteer activ-i ties while older people spend more time engaging in the activieits. Furthermore, respondents who reported their leisure club membership and more vacation days were revealed to have higher possibility of participating in volunteer activities. Based on several research findings, w ediscussed multiple policies for enhancing level s of volunteer participation.

        주류에 대한 도시가계의 구매결정과 지출결정요인

        This study examined the determinants of urban households' expenditures on alcoholic beverages, using double-hurdle models to distinguish between the decision to purchase (purchase decision) and the decision of how much to consume (expenditure decision). Data for this study were drawn from the 2000 Korean Household Income and Expenditure Survey. Households were likely to purchase alcoholic beverages with increasing of household income, tobacco expenditures, and housedhold size. The age, sex, marital status, occupation, education level, type of house ownership, residing sity were significantly related to the purchase decisions. Among those households which drink, as household income and tobacco expenditures increase, the age, sex(male), marital status (married), and education level of a household-head, house ownership, residing city (Seoul) were positively related to and the presence of young children were negatively related to the expenditure level of alcoholic beverages.

        더블허들모형에 의한 품질인증 수산물 수요분석

        The products of the quality certificated fisheries which are protected from environmental pollution, decomposition are hygienically safe and convenient for food. However, consumers have not yet understood the recognition of the system of quality certification so far because of lack of demand on the quality certification fisheries. Above all, to put the system of the quality QC in place sucessfully, to understand the variation of consumer`s inclination efficiently, the empirical study must be carried out by both consumer`s take part in the market of the quality certificated fisheries products and how much the amount of consumption is in this market. The purpose of this study, under the preconditions where these have limited fisheries items in consumer`s inclination survey, is to analyze the demand of QC though the Double Hurdle Model. Explanatory variables included were household characteristics such as housewives` age and education, her job, household income as well as their health perceptions and food purchase behaviors. Survey from 530 household was collected in Pusan City in 2003, of 502 were actually used for empirical analysis. The Double-hurdle framework proved to a better representation of the factors influencing the separate decision participation and consumption levels. According to the results of this study, whether or not, participating in the market of quality certicipating in the market of quality certificated fisheries products is affected by how much experience and confidence these have got. housewives`having a job or not. Furthermore, the amount of consumption is mostly affected income. This value is attributed to the safety of QC fisheries products in comparison with regular fisheries. Findings suggest that the consumers put substantially high monetary value on safe food, such as high quality fisheries products. Therefore, first of all, legal and institutional systems should be clearly and strictly identified for the QC products.

        소비자의 기부참여여부 및 기부금액에 미치는 영향요인 분석

        본 연구는 소비자의 기부행동에 영향을 미치는 독립변수의 영향력을 알아보기 위하여 전국에 거주하는 성인 소비자 500명을 대상으로 자료를 수집하고 더블허들 모형을 적용하여 소비자들의 기부 참여여부와 기부금액에 대해 단계적으로 분석함으로써 소비자들의 기부행동에 대한 이해를 높이고자 하였다. 주요한 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 인구사회학적 변수와 기부관련 경험변수에 따른 기부참여 및 기부금액의 차이를 분석한 결과, 교육수준이 고졸이하 집단, 연령이 20대인 집단은 기부에 참여하지 않은 비율이 높은 반면, 대학이상 집단, 40대와 50 대, 기혼집단, 기독교와 천주교를 가진 경우 기부에 더 많이 참여하였다. 기부금액은 가계소득에 따라 유의한 차이를 보였는데, 가계소득이 가장 높은 집단이 다른 집단에 비해 기부금액이 더 높았다. 기부관련 경험변수의 경우, 본인이 자원봉사에 참여한 경우와 부모가 기부에 참여한 경우 소비자의 기부참여는 유의하게 높았고, 기부금 액의 경우에는 본인이 자원봉사에 참여한 경우가 참여하지 않은 경우보다 기부금액이 유의하게 많았다. 둘째, 더블허들모델을 사용하여 기부참여여부와 기부금액에 영향을 미치는 변수를 분석한 결과, 기부참여여부에 유의한 영향을 미치는 변수는 기부관련 경험변수와 교육수준이, 기부금액에 대하여서는 기부동기와 연령, 종교가 유의하게 나타나서 각 단계별로 영향을 미치는 독립변수가 상이하였다. 1단계 기부참여여부에 대해서는, 본인이 자원봉사에 참여하거나 부모님이 기부에 참여한 경우, 가난한 가정에서 성장한 경험이 있는 경우 소비자는 기부에 참여할 가능성이 유의하게 증가하였고, 교육수준이 고졸이하 집단은 대학이상 집단보다 기부에 참여할 확률이 낮았다. 2단계 기부금액에 대해, 연령이 증가할수록, 종교가 기독교, 불교인 경우 무교에 비해 기부금액이 증가하였고, 내재적 동기는 기부금액에 정적 영향을, 외재적 동기는 기부금액에 부적영향이 나타났다. This study aims to investigate the influencing power of independent variables to affect consumer donation behavior and enhance the understanding of consumer donation behavior. For this purpose, data were collected from 500 adult consumers residing in all area of South Korea and analyzed by applying Double-hurdle model to consumer participation in donation and amount of donation. The main results of the study are as follows: First, the analyses on the differences in consumer participation in donation and amount of donation according to socio-demographic variables showed that levels of education, age, marital status, and religion had significant effects on consumer participation in donation and household income had a significant effect on amount of donation. In terms of individual experience variables, both self participation in volunteer work and parents participation in donation had significant effects on consumer participation in donation and only self participation in volunteer work had a significant effect on amount of donation. Second, Double-hurdle model analyses on the differences in consumer participation in donation and amount of donation showed that individual experience variables and levels of education had significant effects on consumer participation in donation and donation motive, age, and religion had significant effects on amount of donation. In terms of consumer participation in donation, self participation in volunteer work, parents participation in donation, and growth background in poor home were each related to higher probability in consumer participation in donation. In terms of education levels, individuals with a high school diploma or less had significantly lower probability in participation in donation than those with education experience at a university. In terms of amount of donation, higher age and believing in Christianity or Buddism (vs. no religion) had positive effects on amount of donation. Intrinsic motivation had a positive effect on amount of donation but extrinsic motivation had a negative effect on amount of donation.

        레저스포츠용품 소비시장의 수요모형에 관한 연구

        The purpose of this study is to examine the demand and expenditure determinants for sports equipments. The author used the data of the Consumer Expenditure Survey of National Statistical Office and applied Double-hurdle model. The first step was a probit regression to estimate the probability of purchase demand, and the second step was to predict expenditures levels using a truncated regression. According to the results, gender, martial status, occupation, education level, employment personnel in household, and house ownership variables are positive impacts on the purchase demand, and also the income and house ownership variables are positive impacts on the expenditure levels. This approach provided in-depth information on the decision-making process for consumer`s behaviour. Ultimately, these survey results will be used as part of a useful information for consumer behavior with sports equipments.

        Examining the adoption of agroforestry in Southern Rwanda: a double hurdle approach

        This article analyzes determinants of farmers’ adoption decisions for agroforestry practices and the extent of adoption in rural Rwanda. The study also investigates the key constraints hindering smallholder farmers to adopt agroforestry. The study uses the cross-sectional data from a sample of 615 farmers and Cragg’s double-hurdle model is used for the empirical estimation. The findings show that farmers’ land ownership, cooperative membership, farm- ing experience, market orientation, credit access, and distance to the market mainly deter- mine adoption of agroforestry. Policies that enhance adoption of agroforestry should be consider the formation of farmers’ cooperatives and provision of door-to-door education to uneducated farmers. In addition, strategies for supporting liquidity-constrained households to get continuous and increased access to credit should be put forward. Agricultural and resources development policies should direct efforts toward increased access to institutional support services such as better extension to farmers through cooperatives to promote the adoption of agroforestry.

        Determinants of Farmers’ Adoption and Expansion of Automated Greenhouses in Korea

        The present study investigated the factors that affect farmers’ adoption of automated greenhouses in Korea. In particular, we examined various effects of such factors on whether to adopt automated greenhouses and, if so, to what extent. To this end, a double-hurdle model was applied to the pooled data of the Korean Census of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries for the years 2010 and 2015. The empirical results show that farmers are more likely to adopt and expand automated greenhouses when they are capable of using IT devices for farming and have related social networks. Farmers’ age and education were also crucial in the adoption of automated greenhouses. Farmers who cultivate the crops supported by the smart greenhouse dissemination policy have a high likelihood to adopt automated greenhouses and augment the adopted areas. Taken together, our results imply that targeting young and educated farmers, providing IT training, and enhancing farmers’ networks regarding agricultural technologies would greatly contribute to the rapid dissemination of automated greenhouses.
