        계획된 행동이론(TPB)을 적용한 저소득층 아동의 구강건강행동 예측요인에 관한 연구

        Objectives. We analyzed the factors influencing the oral health behavior of children from a low socio-economic status. The theory of planned behavior (TPB) was used to build a hypothetical model for this study. The past oral health behavior was added to strengthen the prediction model and lay the groundwork for the development of oral health promotion programs tailored to low income class children. Methods. Data were gathered from July 24 to November 23, 2008, from. 634 elementary children in 20 local children`s centers in Incheon Metropolitan City. The children agreed to be surveyed and participate in an oral health education program. After the first survey, they participated in an oral health education program, and a second survey was taken immediately after the program concluded, with a third survey following two weeks later. Incomplete surveyes were excluded, leaving responses from 501 students were analyzed with SPSS 12.0 and AMOS 5.0 using multiple regression analysis and structural equation model (SEM). Results. The children`s intention of oral health behavior was predicted by their attitude to oral health behavior (β=.35), subjective norms (β=.32), perceived behavioral control (β=.22) and past oral health behavior (β=.13). Their actual oral health behavior two weeks later was predicted by past oral health behavior (β=.52) and intentionality of oral health behavior (β=.24). All goodness values (x2/df=1.910, GFI=.955, AGFI=.937, NFI=.927, NNFI=.955) were good except the x2 value and RMR value (.295), indicating that the model was generally good. Conclusions. The TPB model was a good predictor of children`s oral health behavior from lower-income classes. The development, application, and evaluation of oral health education programs geared toward local children`s centers mainly used by low income children are required to help improve children`s oral health behavior.

        초등학생의 구강건강증진행위에 영향을 미치는 요인

        This study set out to identify the factors to affect the oral health promotion behavior of elementary school students and to provide a framework to develop educational programs to promote their oral health promotion behavior. A survey was conducted to 729 fifth and sixth graders attending four elementary schools in Seoul. The variables were measured with a five-point Likert scale and include previous oral health related behaviors, perceived oral health status, perceived benefit, perceived barriers, self-esteem, self-efficacy, and oral health promotion behavior. First, the subjects scored relatively high 3.51 points out of 5 in oral health promotion behavior. They also scored 3.88 points in perceived benefit, 3.51 in self-esteem, 3.43 in self-efficacy, 3.28 in perceived oral health status, 2.77 in previous oral health related behaviors, and 1.79 in perceived barriers. Second, a significant difference was observed according to gender in previous oral health related behaviors and oral health promotion behavior. And a significant difference was also found according to grade in previous oral health related behaviors, perceived benefit, perceived barriers, self-esteem, self-efficacy, and oral health promotion behavior. Third, when they had an experience of visiting a dental clinic for preventive purposes, a significant difference was found according to the purposes of going to a dentist in previous oral health related behaviors, perceived benefit, and oral health promotion behavior. And fourth, multiple regression analysis was carried out with oral health promotion behavior as a dependent variable. As a result, all the research variables, which include previous oral health related behaviors, perceived oral health status, perceived benefit, perceived barriers, self-esteem, and self-efficacy, turned out to have significant influences on oral health promotion behavior. And their explanatory power was 49%. Conclusions: Those factors that were identified to affect the oral health promotion behavior of elementary school children will be put into practical use in developing and applying educational programs to promote their oral health.         보건계열학과 학생들의 구강건강행위와 관련요인

        Objectives: The purpose of the study was to investigate the associated factors with oral health behavior in public health majoring students. Methods: Using convenience sampling method, the subjects were 474 health-related majoring students in Jeollanamdo. A self-reported questionnaire was completed from September 1 to 15, 2014. The questionnaire consisted of general characteristics of the subjects, oral health related characteristics, oral health knowledge and behavior. Data were analyzed using SAS 9.3 version. T-test, ANOVA, correlation and multiple linear regression analyses were performed to evaluate the related factors with oral health behavior. Cronbach’s  in oral health knowledge in this study was 0.52 and that in oral health behavior was 0.80. Results: The overall score of oral health behavior was 3.38±0.52. Of all behaviors, the practice in brush of teeth and tongue had the highest mean score. In multiple regression analysis, oral health knowledge in the nursing and dental hygiene students was positively associated with the oral health behavior(=0.04, p=0.003, =0.23, p=0.003, and =0.18, p=0.034, respectively). Necessity of dental care, one of oral symptom, and more than two oral symptoms were negatively associated with oral health behavior(=-0.14, p=0.002, =-0.11, p=0.037, and =-0.17, p=0.011, respectively). Conclusions: Higher oral health knowledge showed higher levels of oral health behavior. These results will enhance the quality of oral health behavior by increasing the level of oral health knowledge. The optimal oral health education program would be able to improve oral health behavior by increasing the level of oral health knowledge.

        청소년의 건강관련행동과 구강건강행태가 구강질환증상에 미치는 영향

        Objectives: The purpose of this study was to provide basic data for the improvement of healthrelated behaviors, oral health behaviors and develop an oral health promotion program for adolescents. Therefore, this study investigated health-related behaviors of adolescents and their oral disease symptoms. Methods: Data of 62,276 adolescents were derived from the 13th Korea youth risk behavior webbased survey. Chi-square tests and logistic regression analyses were performed using complex sampling to determine the effects of health-related behaviors and oral health behaviors on the experience of oral disease symptoms among the adolescents. Results: In total, 52.9% had developed oral symptoms in the previous year. The sample population consisted of 55.1% females, 53.4% third grade high school students, and 51.1% academic achievers. Among the adolescents, 57.6% of those categorized as having low economic status showed high oral disease experience (P<0.001). The increased intake of sweet drinks and snacks due to a higher subjective depression and perception of stress, increased the experience of oral symptoms (P<0.05). Fewer times of toothbrushing per day was correlated to an increase in oral disease symptoms (P<0.001). Conclusions: As health-related behaviors and oral health behaviors formed during adolescence affect adulthood, a systematic oral health education program should be developed and implemented for proper health-related behaviors and oral health management in adolescents.

        변화단계 및 동기요소를 이용한 구강건강행동 변화 과정에 대한 질적 연구

        This study analyzes the processes of change in oral health behaviors induced by oral health education for 23 university students. To this end, we analyzed the changing patterns of the stages of change and motivational components for each oral health behavior. Additionally, we performed an in-depth interview-based investigation of the factors influencing such motivational components. Oral health education was performed twice with a concrete purpose of changing the participants` behaviors in complying with the practice of proper brushing and flossing as the main oral health management, and checking the nutrient facts as a good dietary habit. Upon completion of these two sessions of oral health education, the level of change in oral health behavior was assessed by measuring the stages of change and motivational components for each oral health behavior. In order to gain an in-depth understanding of the reasons for the changes that were demonstrated more markedly during the second education session than during the first session, collective interview surveys were carried out after the second session. The contents of the recorded interviews were categorized into subscales of distinctive concepts on the basis of the items of a health behavior model. The study had the findings as below. First, after the first and second education sessions, some behaviors showed positive changes from lower to higher levels of practice. Second, self-efficacy about oral health behavior was high or perceived barriers were low when its necessity and benefits were clearly perceived. Third, educational features such as the practice and participation-centered education, and examining their own oral conditions influenced the participants` oral health awareness and behavioral changes. There is a need for oral health education capable of leading to practical behavioral changes by establishing concrete strategies of deriving various motivational components at each stage of the processes of change.

        만성질환이 구강건강 행동에 미치는 영향

        Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of chronic disease on oral health behavior. Methods: The subjects were 317 adults over 30-years old living in urban and rural areas. They were selected by convenience sampling method and filled out the self-reported questionnaire. The questionnaire consisted of general characteristics, dental treatment, chronic disease, and oral health behavior including oral health self-care behavior and professional oral health care. Results: The self-care oral health behavior and the professional oral health care had a negative correlation with the chronic diseases. Especially, the self-care oral health behavior and the professional oral health care had a statistically significant negative correlation with hypertension and osteoporosis. Multiple regression analysis was performed after including general characteristics, dental treatment, chronic disease. Meanwhile the presence of chronic disease had a significant influence on the self-care oral health behavior and the professional oral health care. Hypertension and Osteoporosis were the most influential factors of chronic diseases and had a significant influence on the oral health behavior. In conclusion, the chronic diseases aggravated the oral health behavior practice. Conclusions: presence of chronic disease affects oral health behavior. Therefore, the effective intervention and education programs related to oral health care are necessary to enhance adult`s oral health behavior and total health. The continuous follow-up study will determine the causal relationship between oral health behavior and the presence of chronic disease.

        광주광역시 치위생학생과 일반학생의 구강건강증진행위에 영향을 미치는 요인 연구

        Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship of oral health behavior factors to oral health promotion behavior in dental hygiene students and nonhealth-related majors, to identify factors affecting their oral health promotion behavior and ultimately to provide information on the oral health promotion of college students and behavioral factors related to that. Methods: The subjects in this study were three-year-course dental hygiene students and two-year-course nonhealth-related majors in G college located in the city of Gwangju. A self-administered survey was conducted for 11 days from September 9 to 19, 2009, and the answer sheets from 473 respondents were analyzed. To look for connections between their major and the characteristics of their oral health promotion behavior, t-test was utilized, and t-test and one-way ANOVA were carried out to find out the relationship oral health promotion behavior by general characteristics. Besides, multiple regression analysis was employed to grasp factors affecting oral health promotion behavior. Results: Among the subfactors of oral health promotion behavior, the dental hygiene students statistically significantly outdid the nonhealth-related majors in thorough post-meal toothbrushing(p<0.01), toothbrushing method(p<0.001), use of fluorine-containing dentifrice(p<0.001) and good nutrition(p<0.05). But the latter statistically significantly outperformed the former in use of fluorine-containing rinse(p<0.001) and limited sugar intake(0<0.05). Regarding variables affecting oral health promotion behavior, the age group, whether to get a dental checkup over the last year and whether to use oral hygiene supplies were identified as the variables to impact on oral health promotion behavior. Specifically, the age group(dental hygiene students) and the get a dental checkup over the last year(nonhealth-related majors) had a greater impact. Conclusions: To promote the oral health of college students, comprehensive oral health education should be provided, which covers the importance of dental checkup, recommendation for the use of oral hygiene supplies, etc. Specifically, oral health education should be offered as one of general education courses in order for nonhealth-related majors to get into sound life habits and improve their oral health promotion behavior. To make it happen, required institutional measures should be taken.

        치위생과와 비보건학과 학생의 인지-지각 요인에 따른 구강건강증진행위

        Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine the awareness-perception factors and oral health promotion behavior of dental hygiene and nonhealth-related students in an effort to find out factors affecting their oral health promotion behavior. Methods: The subjects in this study were students in the three-year-course dental hygiene and students in the two-year-course nonhealth-related department in G college located in the city of Gwangju. After a survey was conducted, the collected data were analyzed and compared. Results: 1. The dental hygiene students were statistically significantly ahead of the nonhealth-related students in perceived oral health knowledge(p<0.001), awareness of the importance of oral health(p<0.001), perceived oral health status(p<0.001) and oral health interest(p<0.001). 2. Concerning the characteristics of oral health promotion behavior, the dental hygiene students were statistically significantly better at toothbrushing(p<0.001) and the use of dental floss(p<0.001) than the nonhealth-related students. 3. Regarding factors affecting oral health promotion behavior, oral health knowledge and oral health interest were identified as the factors that impacted on oral health promotion behavior. Out of the two, oral health interest exercised a greater influence on that. Conclusions: It seems that oral health education could motivate students to be concerned about their oral health, to acquire knowledge on that and eventually to change their oral health behavior and attitude. As for college students, oral health education provides a final chance for them to check their oral health knowledge, attitude and oral health promotion behavior before they start to work as full-fledged adults, and institutional measures should be taken to offer more intensive official oral health education.

        Effects of e-health literacy and oral health knowledge on oral health behavior in adults

        Objectives: The purpose of this study was to identify new variables that can enhance adult oral health behaviors by confirming the degree of adult e-health literacy, oral health knowledge, and oral health behaviors and examining their relevance. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was filled out by 350 adults from June 22 to August 1, 2021. Data were analyzed using SPSS 23.0. independent t-test, one way ANOVA, the scheffé post-hoc test and the pearson correlation coefficients were reviewed, A hierarchical regression analysis was conducted. Results: Oral health behaviors according to general characteristics showed significant differences in gender, educational background, dental visit within 1 year, subjective oral health status, oral health interest, frequency of oral internet use, and reliability of internet oral health information. Also it was found that e-health literacy affects oral health behavior. Conclusions: In this study, e-health literacy, oral health knowledge, and oral health behavior were correlated and it was confirmed that e-health literacy had an effect on oral health behavior. In the future, it is necessary to develop a tool that can measure e-oral health literacy and to find a way to improve the oral health behavior of adults by using e-oral health literacy.

        일부 대학생의 외모관리 행동이 구강건강 행동에 미치는 영향

        Purpose : The college student period is pivotal for establishing oral health management behaviors and habits that persist in adulthood; it is necessary to develop the correct behaviors. Appearance management behavior not only involves the management of an individual's appearance but also ensures a healthy quality of life. Additionally, it is related to health and oral health behavior. The purpose of this study was to determine how college students' appearance management behavior affects their oral health management behavior and to provide basic data for developing policies appropriate for the lifestyle of college students. Methods : A self-administered questionnaire was completed by 450 university students in Gyeonggi, Choung-nam, Daejeon on April 27, 2022. The survey comprised 5 questions about general characteristics, 18 about appearance management behavior, and 8 about oral health behavior. The sum of the practice questions were calculated, with higher scores indicating better oral health behavior. Results : The oral health management behavior exhibited was generally high. Notably, the health-related group (61.2 %) demonstrated significantly higher levels of clothing management (60.5 %), makeup management (56.6 %), and skincare (56.6 %) behaviors, whereas body management behavior (61.2 %) was deemed 'normal' (p<.05). The results of the stepwise multiple regression analysis examining the impact of appearance management behavior on oral health management indicated that clothing management (β=0.17) and skincare behaviors (β=0.12) were influential factors. Among these, clothing management behavior was the most influential. Conclusion : To promote oral health practices among college students, this study incorporated factors related to appearance management into oral health education to increase participation and interest. We intend our findings to serve as foundational data for developing oral health education programs that integrate elements of appearance management.
