      • A Study of Chinese College Athletes` English Learning

        Background: As a special English learning group, Chinese college student athletes only account for a tiny percentage of the total English learners in China, but their number is still quite large. Their English education has its unique characteristics, different from the ones of regular students. Firstly, the majority of their time is spent in sports training and attending various matches with little time left for English study. Secondly, their English knowledge basis is weak, and learning methods are outdated and inefficient. Finally, the most important thing for the sports college students is the fact that with the increase of international matches, their international communication skills have determined whether they are able to integrate smoothly into international arena and also greatly affected their career future. Therefore, a research to understand and analyze Chinese college student athletes` English learning and further to put forward a proper learning strategy for them have vital practical significance to their English study. Purpose: This paper analyzes the problems Chinese college student athletes encounter in learning English and provides relevant approaches for improvement. Method: Literature review, interview, case-study Results: 1. Chinese college student athletes have two common paths of English learning . One is the routine English skills training in college English courses. And the other is through attending international matches and overseas life experience, which offer chances to improve their practical English proficiency. 2. The improvement of Chinese college student athletes` English level will greatly increase their interaction with overseas sports persons, agencies and spectators and promote related sports items` popularity. And the students will also be able to independently cope with everyday life and communications in and out of the sports arenas, adapting well to meet with the requirements of a more and globalized Chinese sports. Conclusions: 1. In terms of English learning modes, Chinese college student athletes should fully exploit the advantages of modern teaching resources by adopting online teaching tools such as learning on Weibo, Weixin and video teaching platforms like MOOC, along with other flexible approaches. 2. As for English study content, Chinese college student athletes should strengthen their sports spoken English and technical English expressions. Due to their widespread problem of an unsolid English language foundation, there are still unavoidable grammar mistakes. Therefore, a systematical English writing study should be suggested to prepare them for a better career prospect.

        계획행동이론을 적용한 대학운동선수의 공격성 예측

        The purpose of this study is to investigate the prediction of aggression of college athletes: an application of the theory of planned behavior. Through convenience sampling method, selected 255 survey questionnaires were used for final analysis from college athletes. With the collected data, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, model fit tested, and structural equation analysis were performed by SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 18.0. The results of the analysis were summarized as follows. First, the attitude showed positive(+) influence on intention to exercise behavior of college athletes. Second, the subjective norm did not show any influence on intention to exercise behavior of college athletes. Third, the perceived behavioral control showed positive(+) influence on intention to exercise behavior of college athletes. Fourth, the intention to exercise behavior showed negative(-) influence on physical aggression of college athletes. Fifth, the intention to exercise behavior showed positive(+) influence on verbal aggression of college athletes. Sixth, the intention to exercise behavior showed negative(-) influence on anger of college athletes. Seventh, the intention to exercise behavior showed negative(-) influence on hostility of college athletes. These results were discussed based on the previous and practical studies on exercise and aggression.

        MTB 대학생 선수의 삶과 진로에 관한 내러티브 탐구

        [Purpose] The purpose of this study is to look into the life of MTB college athletes before and after their college entrances through long-term longitudinal narrative inquiry and investigate how the career exploration after graduation is conducted in a contextual way. [Methods] For this study, four MTB college athletes who entered the university as specialists are selected as research participants, and their life and career are examined through a long-term longitudinal narrative inquiry. [Results] As a result, the life and career of MTB college athlete appear as follows. First, MTB college athletes entered MTB because of 'self-will' or 'influence of family and acquaintances' and the motivation is 'extension of hobbies', 'college entrance', etc. Second, the MTB college athletes' training and goals are set in the 'college entrance examination', which means the entrance to higher college. Third, MTB college athletes' college life is closely related to 'management and support system for college athletes', and the career search for them is based on 'the prospect as a player' and 'professional prospect of MTB athletes’. However, MTB college athletes showed their plan B to prepare for their uneasy future or to retire. [Conclusions] In the end, the MTB college athletes came to think about life and career on the narrow stage of unpopular sports and was seen coming down from the narrow stage of unpopular sports. Based on these results, this study presents critical discussions about their life and career of MTB college athletes and seeks implications for the school elite sports in Korea. [목적] 본 연구의 목적은 MTB 학생선수의 대학 입학 전후의 삶을 총체적으로 들여다보고, 대학생 선수의 진로 탐색이 맥락적으로 어떻게 이루어지는지 살펴보는 데 있다. [방법] 이를 위해 MTB 대학생 선수 4명을 연구 참여자로 선정한 후, 이들의 삶과 진로를 내러티브 탐구의 방법으로 고찰하였다. [결과] MTB 대학생 선수의 삶과 진로는 다음과 같이 재현 및 전개되었다. 첫째, MTB 대학생 선수가 MTB에 입문하게 된 배경에는 ‘자기 의지’ 또는 ‘가족 및 주변인의 영향’으로 나타났고, 동기는 ‘취미 생활의 연장’, ‘대학 진학’ 등과 같이 구체적인 이야기를 갖고 있었다. 둘째, MTB 학생선수의 훈련과 목표는 대학 진학이라는 ‘입시’에 맞춰져 있었고, 이를 위해 훈련하고 대회에 참가한 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, MTB 대학생 선수의 대학 생활은 ‘학생선수에 대한 관리 및 지원 체계’와 밀접한 관련이 있었고, 이들의 진로 탐색은 ‘선수로서 자신의 장래성’뿐만 아니라 ‘MTB 선수의 직업 전망’ 등을 복합적으로 고려해 이루어졌다. MTB 대학생 선수들은 비인기 종목의 특성과 선수 생활에 대한 불투명한 미래를 이유로 자기만의 ‘플랜 B’를 준비하며 자연스레 은퇴를 준비하는 모습을 보였다. [결론] MTB 대학생 선수는 비인기스포츠의 좁은 무대에서 자기 삶과 진로에 대한 진지한 고민을 하고 있었다. 이 같은 이야기를 바탕으로 MTB 대학생 선수의 삶과 진로에 대한 비판적 논의를 시도하고 나아가 오늘날 비인기 종목 학원 스포츠의 학생선수들을 위한 시사점을 제시하였다.

        대학 운동선수의 운동스트레스와 운동선수 정체성 및 진로결정 자기효능감의 관계

        The purpose of this study is investigate the relationship among exercise stress, athletes self-efficacy, and careers decision-making self-efficacy of college athletes. college athletes(N-373) were selected as usable data by convenience sam-pling method. Data questionnaire that respond by self- administrated method. The inputted data was carried out factor analysis for verifying feasibility of questionnaire and was calculated Cronbach’s α value for verifying reliability by applying collected by SPSS 18.0 Version. The results are as follows; First, it was showed that exercise stress of college athletes had negative influence on the athletes self-efficacy. Second, it was showed that exercise stress of college athletes had negative influence on the careers decision-making self-efficacy. Third, it was showed that athletes self-efficacy of college athletes had positive influence on the careers decision-making self-efficacy. Fourth, the exercise stress and careers decision-making self-efficacy of college athletes are related to the intermediating effect of athletes self-efficacy.

        스포츠사회학 : 대학 운동선수의 미래포부와 자아실현의 관계

        The purpose of this study was to find out the relationship between future aspiration and self-actualization of college athletes. Using a stratified cluster random sampling method, 355 male and female athletes selected from randomly selected 8 universities located in Seoul, Gyeounggi-do, Chungcheongnam-do, and Daejeon province. Collected data were analyzed to test the hypotheses with statistical methods such as one-way ANOVA, ANCOVA, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis.An overall process of surveys and evaluations leads to the following conclusions : First, male athletes had significantly higher level of future aspiration related to 'community life' rather than that of female athletes, and older athletes had higher level of future aspiration related to ' social economic sucess' rather than that younger athletes.Second, male athletes and older athletes had significantly higher level of self-actualization related to 'self-confidence' and 'faithfulness' rather than that of female athletes and younger athletes.Third, athletes who participated in individual sports had significantly the highest level of future aspiration as a whole, while athletes in team sports had the highest level of self-actualization related to 'self-acceptability', 'humanity', and 'faithfulness'.Fourth, degree of athletes' participation had significantly positive influences on both future aspiration and self-actualization.Fifth, future aspiration had significantly positive influence on self-actualization of college athletes.

        대학운동선수의 사회적지지가 번아웃 및 운동몰입에 미치는 영향

        Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze and elucidate the impact of social support on burnout and athletic immersion in college athletes. Method: A convenience sample of 424 male and female college athletes from 8 universities was used for this study. Data were processed using SPSS version 26.0 software. The analysis included frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis. Results: The results are as follows: First, it was found that social support among college athletes significantly influences burnout. Second, social support among college athletes was found to have a significant impact on athletic immersion. Third, burnout among college athletes was found to have a significant impact on athletic immersion. Conclusion: In summary, the findings of this study suggest that social support plays a crucial role in influencing both burnout and athletic immersion among college athletes. Enhancing social support could, therefore, be a key strategy in improving athletes’ well-being and engagement.

        대학 운동선수들의 감정노동, 운동스트레스 및 운동선수 정체성의 관계

        The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship among emotional labor, exercise stress and athletic identity of college student athletes. The data were collected from 220 college student athletes using convenience sampling method. The data were coded with the use of the statistics program on Windows, IBM SPSS and AMOS Window 22.0. To analyse the data, descriptive analysis, explanatory and confirmatory factor analysis, correlation analysis, and structural equation model were employed. The findings of this research are as follows. First, college student athletes emotional labor affects their exercise stress. Second, college student athletes emotional labor has influence on their athletic identity. Third, college student athletes exercise stress affects their athletic identity. Fourth, there are a casual relationship among college student athletes emotional labor, exercise stress and athletic identity.

        대학운동선수에 대한 코치-선수 의사소통 척도의 적합도 검증

        The purpose of this study was to investigate item goodness-of-fit of Coach-Athletes Communication Scale, Rasch rating scale model was applied to 4 dimensions 18 items of the Coach-Athletes Communication Scale on a sample of College athletes. An assumption to test Rasch Model, which is satisfaction of unidimensionality, is regarded through theoretical aspects, and WINSTEPS 3.65 program is used to test the goodness-of-fit of items. The results of this study were: First, 3-point rating scale was appropriate for the Coach-Athletes Communication Scale. Second, 5 items of the Coach-Athletes Communication Scale were not suitable in item fitness and item difficulty to college athletes. Third, Coach-Athletes Communication Scale was not suitable in person reliability of item separation. Fourth, the person attribute score of the Coach-Athletes Communication Scale was distributed appropriately, but the difficulty level was not distributed suitably. Therefore, when measuring the level of Coach-Athletes Communication for College athletes in a follow-up study, five questions should be reorganized based on the 3-point rating scale, rearrange the order of items based on the hierarchy of difficulty, and then proceed with the measurement

        댄스스포츠 전공 대학생의 파트너 신뢰와 운동몰입 및 운동수행능력과의 관계

        이 연구는 댄스스포츠 전공 대학생들의 파트너 신뢰와 운동몰입 및 운동수행능력과의 관계를 구명하여 댄스스포츠 전공 대학생들의 경기력 향상을 위한 기초자료를 제공하는데 목적이 있다. 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해서 서울특별시, 경기도, 충청남북도지역 대학에 재학 중인 댄스스포츠 전공 대학생 231명을 대상으로 파트너 신뢰와 운동몰입 및 운동수행능력의 관계에서 변인들과의 인과관계를 구명하여 다음과 같은 결론을 도출하였다. 첫째, 댄스스포츠 전공 대학생들의 파트너 신뢰는 운동몰입에 긍정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 댄스스포츠 전공 대학생들의 파트너 신뢰는 운동수행능력에 긍정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 댄스스포츠 전공 대학생들의 운동몰입은 운동수행능력에 긍정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이상의 결과를 종합해 볼 때 댄스스포츠 전공 대학생들의 파트너 신뢰의 강화는 운동몰입 경험을 강화시켜 궁극적으로 운동수행능력 향상에 기여한다고 판단된다. 따라서 파트너 간의 다양한 방법의 소통을 통해서 의견을 공유하고 이상적인 인간관계를 형성 및 유지한다면 파트너 신뢰가 강화되어 높은 수준의 운동몰입을 통하여 경기력을 강화시킬 수 있을 것이라 판단된다. This study aims to provide evidence of the exercise immersion and performance ability of the college dance sports athletes and verify causal relations between for performance. To achieve the purpose of the study, 231 subjects of the college dance sports athlete’s questionnaires in Seoul, Gyunggi, and Cheongchung province were analyzed. Results showed that first, the college dance sports athletes’ partner confidence influenced exercise immersion positively significantly. Second, the college dance sports athletes’ partner confidence influenced the performance ability positively significantly. Third, the college dance sports athletes’ exercise immersion influenced performance ability positively significant. In conclusion, if the college dance sports athlete partner confidence can increase exercise immersion, it supported performance ability for the high performance level. Therefore, providing share and communication between the athletes, then to keep the relationship for the reinforcing partner confidence to achieve high performance level.

        대학운동선수가 동료 관계에서 겪는 외상경험

        본 연구는 대학운동선수가 동료 관계에서 겪는 외상경험 유형과 이에 따른 정서를 알아보고자 진행하였다. 이를 위해 11개 대학의 운동선수 75명을 개방형 설문 참여자로 선정하였으며, 5개 대학에서 8명을 선정하여 심층면담을 실시하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 선배로 인한 외상경험 유형은 총 240개의 자료가 수집되었으며, ‘폭력’, ‘심부름’, ‘정신적 괴롭힘’, ‘사생활 침해’, ‘운동 방해’로 구분되었다. 둘째, 동기로 인한 외상경험 유형은 총 46개의 자료가 수집되었으며, ‘연대 책임’, ‘의견 대립’, ‘폭력’, ‘정신적 괴롭힘’으로 구분되었다. 셋째, 후배로 인한 외상경험 유형은 총 75개 자료가 수집되었으며, ‘연대 책임’, ‘무례함’, ‘분란 조성’, ‘운동 방해’로 구분되었다. 넷째, 동료로 인한 외상경험에 따른 정서는 총 303개의 자료가 수집되었으며, McNair, Lorr, Dropeleman(1971)이 개발한 형용사 체크리스트 POMS(Profile of mood sates)를 참고하여 ‘분노-적의’, ‘우울-낙담’, ‘긴장-불안’, ‘혼란-당황’, ‘기타’로 구분하였다. ‘분노-적의’에서는 ‘분노’가, ‘우울-낙담’에서는 ‘회피’가, ‘긴장-불안’에서는 ‘스트레스’가, ‘혼란-당황’에서는 ‘당황스러움’이, ‘기타’에서는 ‘인내’가 가장 높게 나타났다. 본 연구는 대학 운동선수가 동료 관계에서 경험하는 외상유형과 그에 따른 정서를 심층적으로 탐색했다는 데 그 의의가 있다. 또한 본 연구결과가 선수들의 환경을 개선하고, 인권교육시스템 구축에 필요한 기초자료로 활용되기를 기대해본다. The purpose of this study is to investigate the types of trauma experiences that college athletes experience in their peer relationships and emotions caused by types of trauma. Seventy-five athletes from eleven universities were selected as participants in the open survey, and eight athletes from five universities were selected for in-depth interviews. The results of the study are as follows: First, the types of trauma experiences that college athletes experience in their relationships with their seniors were shown in the order of “Violence”, “Errand”, “Psychological distress”, “Violation of privacy”, and “Disturbance of exercise.” Second, the types of trauma experiences that college athletes experience in their relationships with their peers were shown in the order of “Joint responsibility,” “Opinion confrontation,” “Violence,” and “Mental harassment.” Third, the types of trauma experiences that college athletes experience in their relationships with their juniors were in the order of “Joint responsibility”, “Opposition of opinions”, “Rudeness”, “Creating division” and “Disturbance of exercise”. Fourth, the emotions caused by the trauma experiences of college athletes in their peer relationships were shown in the order of “Anger-Hostility,” “Depression- Disappointment”, “Nervous-Anxiety”, “Chaos- Confusion”, and “other”. Through this study, it is expected that university athletes will be able to understand the trauma in depth which they experience in their peer relationships. It also hopes to improve the environment of athletes. Furthermore, it is expected to be used as a basic data for developing professional ethics and human rights education programs in sports institutions.
