컨스펙터스방법을 이용한 장서평가연구

본 연구는 국내 최초로 컨스펙터스(Conspectus)에 대한 개념과 이론을 발전시키고 그 이론을 실제로 성서학 전문도서관의 장서평가에 적용함으로써 새로운 장서평가 모형을 제시할 목적으로 이루어졌다. 컨스펙터스는 도서관의 규모와 상황에 적합하게 장서를 주류, 강목, 요목별로 구분하여, 현재장서수준(CL), 수집의지수준(AC), 목표장서수준(GL)이라는 세가지 차원에서 분석 평가한 후, 각 장서에 적합한 장서수준기호를 부여하는 표준화되고 객관적인 장서평가방법이라 할 수 있다. 평가대상 도서관인 대한성서공회 성서학문헌정보자료실의 장서평가를 위하여 서가목록분석법과 목록대조법, 주문중인 자료의 주제별 수서데이터분석, 이용자설문조사방법을 이용하였으며 그 결과를 종합하여 각 주제별 장서에 미국서부지역도서관망 컨스펙터스의 장서수준기호를 부여하였다. 따라서 평가 대상도서관 장서중 성서학 강목의 현재장서수준은 '3cW', 수집의지수준은 '4W', 목표장서수준은 '4W', 목표장서수준은 '4W'였다. 본 연구는 신학도서관의 장서평가 모형으로 응용될 수 있으며, 이를 토대로 도서관간의 협동장서개발업무를 활성화시킬수 있을 것이다. The im of the present study is to introduce and develop the concept and theory of conspectus for the first time in Korea, and to propose a new evaluation model for book collection by actually applying the developed methodology to the collection of a special library dedicated to Biblical Studies. Conspectus is a standardized and objective evaluation method that classifies the main collection according to the division, category, subject, and then gives each collection ots appropriate collection level code by analyzing the classified collection in terms of three different dimensions, which are Current Collection Level(CL), Acquisition Commitment Level(AC), and Collection Goal Level(GL). To evaluate the collection of the sample library, shelflist analysis, list checking, acquisition data in ordering process by their main subject, and survey of its users have been carried out, and all of their results ahve been indicated in terms of eleven collection level codes developed by WLN Conspectus. T e collection of sample library was evaluated as '3cW' for CL, '4W' for AC, and '4W' for GL when the Conspectus methodology was applied for evaluation. This study could be utilized as an collection evaluation model for theological libraries, and become a basis to bring about more active cooperative collection development among related libraries.

공공도서관 장서평가를 위한 소장도서 이용도 및 핵심장서 분석에 관한 연구 - 광진정보도서관 사례를 중심으로 -

본 연구는 국내 공공도서관의 장서개발정책을 위하여 장서평가 방법을 실증적 데이터에 적용함으로서 그 활용 가능성을 제시하는데 목적이 있다. 이러한 목적을 위하여 서울시 광진정보도서관의 최근 10년간 장서대출 데이터를 활용하여 도서관 장서평가 방법 중에서 가장 신뢰성이 높은 Bonn의 이용계수, 소장도서 장서회전율과 Trueswell의 80/20 법칙을 적용하였다. 분석내용은 소장도서의 전체적 분석과 주제별 분석으로 장서평가에 대한 실질적인 가치와 의미를 부여하도록 하였다. 주요 분석항목으로는 연도별로 소장도서 전체 및 주제별 이용도 분석과 연도별로 대출 핵심장서의 비중 분석으로 구성되어 있다. 분석 결과, 장서 전체 이용도와 주제별 이용도의 변화를 분석함으로써 도서관에서 수행된 업무와 이용도 간의 관련성을 파악할 수 있으며, 장서대출 데이터 분석으로 이용자들의 장서 이용패턴에 대한 변화와 도서관 프로그램에 대한 지역주민의 평가를 파악할 수 있다. 아울러 대출도서 핵심장서의 비중 분석을 통하여 효과적인 수서정책을 위한 근거자료를 제시할 수 있다. The purpose of this study is to suggest the usability of collection evaluation methods for collection development policy in public libraries. To achieve this purpose, this study applied Bonn's Use Factor, Turnover Rate of Collection, and Trueswell's 80/20 Rule to actual circulation data of the Gwangjin District Public Library in Seoul during last ten years. This study added practical meanings and values in collection evaluation through the analysis of total holdings and subject classes. Main items of analysis are the rate of use to total holdings and to holdings in specific subject classes by year, and the rate of core collection circulation by year. The results show relations between the rate of use and library's performance through the analysis of the rate of use both total holdings and subject classes. The results also figure out user's patterns and library appraisal of community users through the analysis of circulation data. In addition, the analysis of core collection gives a good basis for an effective collection development policy.

학술연구 : 대학도서관 경제학분야 장서평가에 관한 연구 -P대학교도서관을 중심으로-

이 연구는 장서평가를 통해 장서의 강점과 약점을 파악하고 최적의 장서를 위한 기초를 제공하는 데 목적이 있다. 본 연구에서는 P대학교도서관의 경제학분야 장서를 대상으로 장서평가를 수행하였다. 장서평가의 방법으로 장서 통계 및 이용통계에 의한 분석 및 리스트체킹을 통한 장서 유용성 분석을 수행하였으며, 이를 통해 P대학교도서관의 현재 장서 구성의 문제점을 지적하고 개선점을 밝히고자 하였다. 이상의 논의들을 통해 제시한 개선점들을 장서개발에 반영하여 최적의 장서 구성을 위한 기초를 마련하는데 도움이 되기를 기대한다. The purpose of this study is to understand the strength and weakness of collection through the collection assessment and to provide a basis for best collection. This study performs a collection assessment with the economics collection in P university library. The evaluation method used for this study is the analysis by collection and use statistics and the analysis of usefulness of collection by list-checking. This study pointed out the problems of present collection of P university library and suggested some solutions for them. This study expects the foundation of the best collection through reflection of the solutions mentioned.

대학도서관 장서평가 연구 - A대학교도서관 정치학장서를 중심으로 -

대학도서관에 있어서 장서개발의 목적은 각 학문분야별로 구성된 장서의 강점과 균형은 유지하고 약점은 보완하여 장서구성의 체계성과 망라성을 유지하는 것이다. 그러나 우리나라 대학도서관들은 장서의 규모를 확충하는데 주력한 반면 그 품질을 제고하는 데에는 미처 관심을 갖지 못한 것이 사실이다. 이는 무엇보다 최적의 장서를 유지하기 위하여 필수적인 과정인 장서평가를 제대로 수행하지 못한데 기인하는데, 이러한 문제의식을 바탕으로 이 연구는 대학도서관에 소장된 특정 주제분야 장서를 중심으로 장서평가를 수행하였다. 구체적으로 표본 대학도서관의 정치학 장서를 대상으로 장서의 현황을 분석하고, 과연 장서가 학과의 학부 학생들과 대학원생의 학습 및 연구지원, 교수의 연구지원과 얼마나 밀접한 관련성을 맺으며 개발되고 있는지 분석하였다. 이를 위해 정치학 강의에서 사용된 교재 및 연구자들이 학술활동 과정에서 인용한 문헌의 리스트를 작성하고 이에 근거한 대학도서관의 장서 보유 현황을 조사함으로써 정치학 교육과 연구에 있어서 필요한 장서의 현황, 장서의 최적성 수준을 파악하고자 하였다. This study strives to perform a pilot collection assessment study with the political science collection in a university library. Employing the basic list-checking analysis method, the study scrutinized the collection statistics and the circulation statistics, and check the current library holdings with a standard list which was composed of cited works extracted from course syllabi, theses, dissertations and faculty research papers. Although the study is a pilot case study that a particular model was applied to a collection in the field of political science, the result and procedures of the assessment will provide some implications regarding collection assessment in university libraries.

공공도서관의 장서개발정책 수립을 위한 장서평가 지표에 관한 탐색적 연구

This study was implemented to suggest various indicators of collection evaluation for collection development policy in public libraries. For the sake of the exploratory research, this study tried to show the usability of indicators of collection evaluation through actual data of a case study. Also to analyze indicators of collection evaluation, this study used the ten years circulation records of the Gwangjin District Public Library in Seoul. Majors indicators of collection evaluation were the rate of use and use factor of purchasing books by annual, the rate of use and use factor of librarian’s recommended books by annual, the rate of non circulating books by annual, and the rate of use by residence annually. 본 연구는 국내 공공도서관에서 장서개발정책 수립 시에 활용할 수 있는 다양한 장서평가 지표를 제시할 목적으로 수행되었다. 이러한 탐색적 연구를 위하여 공공도서관의 실제 데이터를 개별 장서평가 지표에 적용하는 사례연구를 통해서 그 활용 가능성을 확인하고자 하였다. 장서평가 지표 분석을 위하여 서울시 광진구립도서관의 최근 10년간 장서대출 데이터가 이용되었다. 주요 장서평가 지표로는 연도별 구입도서의 장서회전율과 이용계수, 연도별 사서 추천도서 장서회전율과 이용계수, 연도별 비대출도서 비율, 대출자 거주지별 도서관 이용도 등이 분석되었다.

지역단위 도서관 시스템에서의 이용중심적 장서평가 연구

Currently, collections with public libraries are evaluated only on the basis of simple data, such as the use volume of collections with individual libraries, and interlibrary lending (ILL) results. To promote the ILL of regional libraries and raise the use of collections, however, the evaluation of collections should be expanded from individual libraries to regional libraries. This study aims to propose user-oriented methods for evaluating the library collections within a regional library system by using four kinds of data: collection, acquisition, circulation, and ILL application data. The results of this study show that the proposed method can reveal the positions of each library within a regional library system, and also the characteristics of a library's collections and users' needs more precisely. 현재 공공도서관의 장서평가는 개별 도서관의 장서 이용량, 그리고 상호대차 실적 등의 단순한 데이터로만 평가하고 있다. 그러나 지역단위 도서관내에서의 상호대차를 촉진시키고 장서의 활용도를 높이기 위해서는 장서에 대한 평가도 개별 도서관 단위에서 지역단위 도서관으로 그 범위를 확대할 필요가 있다. 이 연구는 지역단위 도서관 시스템 내 개별 도서관에서 수집할 수 있는 장서, 수서, 대출, 상호대차 신청 데이터를 대상으로 네 가지 분석방법을 통해 지역단위 도서관 시스템에서의 이용 중심적 장서평가 방법을 제안하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 제안한 평가 방법을 적용해본 결과 지역단위 도서관 시스템 내에서 개별 도서관의 입지와 장서 구성의 특성 및 이용자의 요구를 세밀하게 파악할 수 있는 것으로 나타났다.

The effectiveness of the library operation with the least volume is to bring the same amount of utility as the library operating with the largest volume. The major objectives of this study are to evaluate the library collection of Library and Information Division, Korea Rural Economic Institute, the sample library, by the fields and areas of research, and to prepare an alternative for future library collection of KREI. In order to accomplish these objectives, use studies, relative use method, list-checking, and questionaries were used for the analysis. 장서운영(藏書運營)의 효율성은 적은 수의 자료(資料)를 운영하면서 많은 수의 자료를 운영하는 것과 같은 이용률을 유지하는 것이다. 본 연구에서는 전문도서관(專門圖書館)인 한국농촌경제연구원(韓國農村經濟硏究院) 자료실의 장서를 평가하여 효율적인 이용자 봉사와 앞으로의 장서개발(藏書開發)을 위한 기초자료를 제시하고자 한다. 연구방법(硏究方法)은 통계에 의한 분석으로 자료의 이용조사와 상대이용분석, 인용리스트에 의한 소장유무 분석, 설문지 방법을 사용하였다.

장서 개발을 위한 인터넷 자원 평가 요소

인터넷 상에 존재하는 검증되지 않은 정보자원들을 선별하여 도서관 장서로 개발하는데 있어서 객관적인 인터넷 자원 선정 평가 요소를 설정하였다. The main purpose of this study is to evaluate Internet resources and select a useful its resources in library collection. This study suggests the fellowing evaluation factors for the selection of such a Internet resources. 1) Content Quality evaluation factors: Although the construction methods of Internet resources interconnect text resources and audio-visual resources, and although it is more fresh than conventional printed materials, the content of resources is still the most important factor in determining the value of resources. 2) Service quality evaluation factors: Library services, regardless of the quality of content, will be rejected if users are uncomfortable in using the services. Therefore, the improvement of user environment is important to enhance the value of resource utilization. 3) Policy evaluation factors: There can be many factors to achieve the goals of a library. Such factors will be the policy evaluation factors and they should be considered in library development plan. Therefore, policy evaluation based on user needs is essential.

대학도서관 장서문제의 본질과 해법: 실물장서를 중심으로

이 연구의 목적은 우리나라 대학도서관들이 당면해 있는 장서문제의 본질을 규명하고 원인을 밝혀내어 향후 개별 대학도서관은 물론이고 대학도서관계 전체가 참조할 수 있는 해결책을 모색하는데 있다. 이 연구에서는 무엇보다도 우리나라 대학도서관들이 구축해온 실물장서의 내용적 품질에 대해 주목하였으며, 품질검증 실험을 통해 장서의 열악한 양태를 구체적으로 밝혀내었다. 이어서 장서의 품질을 열악하게 만들어온 원인을 국가 차원의 정책적 오류, 대학도서관 차원의 부실한 전략, 그리고 실무 인력의 부적절한 업무행태 등을 통해 찾아내고자 하였으며, 마지막으로 장서문제를 풀어가기 위한 해법을 국가 차원의 정책적 과제와 대학도서관 차원의 실무적 과제로 나누어 제시하였다. 한편, 이 연구에서는 10개의 거점국립대학도서관을 사례로 하여 논점을 풀어갔으며, 논의를 위한 근거 데이터는 관련 문헌과 통계자료 그리고 사례 대학도서관에 근무하는 사서들과의 면담을 통해 확보하였다. The purposes of this article are to raise the quality issues of Korean academic library collections and explore the feasible solutions to resolve the quality problems. To the end a thorough examination on the quality of Korean academic library collections is at the first hand carried out, and then followed is a careful investigation on the various causes of 'surprisingly low quality' of Korean academic library collections. Finally discussed is the solutions to improve the low quality of library collections at both national and individual academic library level. Discussions on this article are based on the sample data with 10 major academic libraries in South Korea.

이용계수를 적용한 공공도서관 소설장서 평가

본 연구는 이용계수를 적용하여 국내 공공도서관의 소설장서를 평가하고 장서개발기능을 제고시키기 위한 다양한 방안을 제시하였다. 그 결과, 한국문학은 언어별 문학에서의 장서구성 및 이용대출 비중이 각각 62.6%와 54.3%로 가장 높았음에도 불구하고 이용계수(0.87)는 기준값(1.00)보다 낮았다. 또한 한국현대소설은 한국소설의 세목별 장서구성 및 이용대출에서의 비중이 각각 65.60%와 51.36%로 가장 높음에도 이용계수(0.78)는 기준값보다 낮았고 연도별 이용계수도 최근 연도에 근접할수록 감소하고 있다. 그 이유는 장서개발이 부실하기 때문이다. 그러므로 공공도서관은 장서개발정책 및 소설장서개발지침의 수립, 소설자료선정위원회의 구성, 소설자료개발 전담사서제 도입, 소설자료 선정도구의 개발과 활용, 소설장서의 주기적 평가와 같은 방안의 도입을 적극적으로 검토할 필요가 있다. This study evaluated the fiction collection of Korean public libraries by applying use factor and suggested various measures to enhance collection development function. As a result, while the collection building and borrowing ratios of Korean literature in literature collection by language were the highest at 62.6% and 54.3% respectively, the use factor was lower than the base value(1.00). And while the collection building and borrowing ratios of Korean contemporary fiction by item category were the highest at 65.60% and 51.36% respectively, the use factor was lower than the base value and the use factor by year is decreasing in recent years. The reason is because of poor collection development. Therefore, public library need to consider active alternatives such as establishment of the collection development policy and fiction collection development guideline, composition of the fiction material selection committee, adaption of the dedicated librarian system for fiction material development, development and utilization of a selection tool for fiction materials, and periodic evaluation of fiction collection.
