Les supercheries litte´raires et visuelles dans les oeuvres de Dali et de Pe´ret

이 논문은 문학과 미술에 있어서 속임수의 문제를 살바도르 달리의 그림과 벵자멩 페레의 시를 중심으로 조명하고 있다. “illusion”(환영)이라는 단어가 라틴어로 유희를 뜻하는 “ludus”에서 유래된 것을 입증하듯, 두 초현실주의자들의 속임수 기법은 시적이고 회화적인 다양한 유희들을 통해 표출된다. 달리는 이중 이미지를 통해 볼 수 있는 것과 볼 수 없는 것을 혼융함으로써 세계의 감추어진 이면을 드러낸다. 페레는 우연의 법칙에 따른 우스꽝스럽고 자의적인 글쓰기를 통해 관용구들을 재해석하여, 관용적 의미와 문자 그대로의 의미라는 구분을 떠나 새로운 의미를 도출해내고 있다. 이 두 예술가들은 속임수 기법을 통해 전통의 예술가들처럼 현실에 가까운 착각을 불러일으키려는 것이 아니라, 표면적인 현실 이면에 있는 다양한 현실들을 드러내고자 한다. 이들의 다원론적 세계관은 우리로 하여금 일상적인 관점에서 벗어나 새로운 시각으로 삶을 바라보게 하고 있다. 이들에게 속임수는 진실에 도달하는 효과적인 방법이다. 달리의 편집광적 비평방법이 보여주는 “구체적인 비현실”과 미리 숙고하지 않은 채 쓰여진 페레의 시들은 일견 애매하고 무질서하게 보이지만 실상은 무의식이나 꿈에 가장 근접한 이미지들을 내포하고 있으며, 이성의 통제를 벗어난 순수하고 솔직한 내적 자아를 표출시키는 계기가 되고 있다. 달리와 페레는 이미지들의 변용을 통해 속임수 효과를 도출해 낸다. 페레는 셰삭의 그림에 관해 “유충은 번데기의 시련을 거치지 않고 나비가 된다.”고 했는데, 이러한 평가는 페레 자신과 달리의 예술방식을 적절하게 표현하고 있다. 두 초현실주의자들은 마술사처럼 단번에 이 장소에서 저 장소로, 이 순간에서 저 순간으로 이동한다. 이러한 이미지의 비약은 낯설음의 효과를 증폭시킨다. 또한 이를 통해 인간과 세계와 언어에 부가된 모든 관습적 규칙에서 해방된다. 이들이 실험하는 속임수의 유희는 모든 장르와 관습에 교란과 무질서를 가져온다. 이처럼 있는 그대로의 질서에 의문을 제기하여 새로움과 낯설음을 발견해내는 이들의 시도는 초현실주의 뿐 아니라 시와 예술이 지향하는 중요한 목적에 부합하고 있다. 달리와 페레의 물질적 세계는 회화적이고 시적인 왜곡을 통해 새롭게 만들어진다. 이 두 예술가들의 욕망에 의해 물질들은 뒤틀리거나 과장되거나 마모된다. 단단한 것과 물렁한 것, 액체와 고체, 먹을 수 있는 것과 먹을 수 없는 것은 이들의 세계에서 자유롭게 교환된다. 이처럼 달리와 페레는 일상의 사물들을 통해 현실 자체에서 초현실의 세계를 분출시키고 있다. 달리의 “편집광적 비평방법”과 페레의 “이야기-시”는 밖과 안, 의식과 무의식, 현실과 상상을 혼융함으로써 모든 경계들을 무너뜨린다. 이러한 초현실적 세계에서 나와 세계, 나와 타인은 서로 결합하며 사물들은 하나의 형태에서 다른 형태로 끊임없이 이동하면서 변용한다. 이렇게 하여 이 화가와 시인은 예술과 삶의 다의미적이고 수수께끼적인 모습을 구체적으로 드러낸다. 달리와 페레의 시각, 문학적인 속임수는 현실을 다르게 보게 하고, 모든 미학적인 관습을 거부하며 예술과 삶의 간극을 메우기 위한 적절한 장치가 되고 있다.

From his fantasm and monomaniacal criticizing method on objects, he created a unique artistic value. This research focuses on finding the relationship between Freudianism's anxiety and conversational approach, of which D떠i was pursuit. Then it answers how Dali expressed such delicate elements in image. Because Dali was fascinated by Freudianism, his works are greatly affected by it. Among Freudianism, this research focuses on the concept of anxiety. Anxiety in Dali ’ s works can be c1assified into cause of anxiety, sexual pleasure, and paranoia, which all represent a person ’ s dream, the wor1d of unconsciousness, and irrational wor1d. They are based on his phi1osophical ideas, saying that materiality is futility and hallucination and mind alone is woπhful in this wor1d. Inner side of Dali' s works show the modem people ’ s agony, anxiety, contradiction, fear, and despair. Dali chose the method of automatism, which he questioned if a person can really be complete unconscious state to realize it. By using 'consciousness’, he systematized realm of ’unconsciousness.’ The most fundamental implication Dali left to us is that whether complete freedom of human is the most beautiful art and life, or not. In the rapidly developing civilization that we live in, he questioned human dignity' s sanctity and value. Dali’s works uncommonly express the sense of fear, despair, death, and anxiety in a twisted way; especially the image of anxiety which he recreated in his own world, unlike the common perspective.

The Cultural Construction of Poe’s Insane Narrator in the Murder Narratives

Poe’s tales have long been viewed as informed by his obsession with the perverse, the excessive, and the grotesque in human nature. Some earlier critics such as Marie Bonaparte, D. H. Lawrence, and Daniel Hoffman have read Poe’s tragic biography and uncanny writings as expressions of diverse Freudian paradigms, and have speculated that his interest in madness originated primarily from his own neurotic mental problems. Recently, Poe scholars have concentrated on the project of placing him back within the specific American contexts, claiming that to decode Poe outside the antebellum cultural milieu is seriously to misread him. In line with the recent socio-historical trend in Poe criticism, I intend to explore Poe’s insane narrators in “Berenice,” “The Tell-Tale Heart,” and “The Black Cat,” in terms of Halttunen’s concept of ‘moral alien,’ which is far removed from the ‘wild beast’ of the eighteenth-century insanity narratives. I will also demonstrate that Poe’s homicidal monomaniacs are deliberately constructed in accordance with the dominant moral-alien discourse in the early nineteenth century.
