학습자 히스토리를 활용한 녹화 영상 기반 수업 지원 시스템 디자인에 대한 연구

Background Non-face-to-face education using various online platforms is accompanied by many problems in terms of learning management. In particular, online classes based on recorded video should be self-directed by learners. Thus, problems are likely to arise in terms of students' participation in learning and learning management. Methods This study explored the possibility of learning management systems using learners' history data to improve the problem in recorded video-based online classes. At first, the problems in the recorded video-based online class were identified through interviews with the faculty and learners. To find out if a learner's history data on recorded videos could be helpful in class progress, a learning system was developed and user investigation was conducted. Results The learners positively assessed that the history can be utilized for reviewing a course and that self-monitoring is possible during the class. The professors noted that conscious bookmarking would help to identify learners' responses. However, each learner's unconscious history data was difficult to utilize in class progress due to the large deviation depending on the video-taking environment or individual characteristics. Finally, we found that the utilization of private data can cause side effects and that learning history types should be utilized to suit user characteristics and behaviors. Conclusions Based on design considerations or findings in this study, an extended study could be conducted from a real-time online class approach to a system that can support learners or professors. The findings of this study will also be available for the development of support systems that focus on educational facilities and users with severe learning problems. 연구배경 각종 온라인 플랫폼을 활용한 비대면 교육은 학습 관리 측면에서 많은 문제점들을 동반하고 있다. 특히 녹화 영상 기반의 온라인 수업은 학습자가 자기주도적으로 수업을 진행해야 하므로 학생의 학습 참여나 학습 관리 측면에서 문제가 발생하기 쉽다. 연구방법 본 연구는 녹화 영상 기반 온라인 수업에서의 문제점을 확인하는 한편, 전인적 교육 효과까지 고려하는 학습 관리 시스템을 개발하는데 학습자의 히스토리 데이터의 활용 가능성과 효과에 대해서 탐색하였다. 먼저, 녹화 영상 기반 온라인 수업에서의 문제점을 교수자 및 학습자와의 인터뷰를 통해서 확인하였다. 학습자의온라인 녹화 영상에 대한 히스토리 데이터가 수업 진행에 도움이 될 수 있는지를 알아보기 위해서 학습 시스템을개발하여 사용자 조사를 진행하였다. 연구결과 학습자들은 녹화 영상 기반 수업을 할 때 히스토리 데이터를 복습에 활용할 수 있다는 점과 수업 중자기 감시가 가능하다는 점을 긍정적으로 평가하였다. 교수자들은 학습자가 기록해놓은 의식적 북마킹이 수업에 대한 반응을 파악하는 데 도움이 된다고 언급하였다. 그러나 학습자 개개인의 무의식적 히스토리 데이터는 영상 수강 환경이나 개인의 특성에 따라서 편차가 크기 때문에 교수자가 수업 진행에 활용하기는 어려워하였다. 마지막으로 사적 데이터 활용이 부작용을 일으킬 수 있으며, 사용자의 특성과 행동에 맞는 학습 히스토리 유형을활용해야 한다는 점을 발견하였다. 결론 본 연구는 학습자 및 교수자 측면에서 녹화 영상 기반 온라인 수업에서의 문제점을 확인하였다. 본연구에서 제안하는 학습자의 온라인 녹화 영상에 대한 히스토리 데이터 활용 방식은 학습 결손 문제가 심각한 사용자들을 위한 교육 시스템 개발에도 확장 적용이 가능할 것이다.
