Vol.13 No.2

The purpose of this study is to present the technical and marketing directions of hairdressers and to establish basic data in the practical training for customer satisfaction by investigating the comparative perception between cold permanent and heat perm of the expert group for customer satisfaction. The study was conducted on beauty function centers, a group of beauty experts nationwide, and the survey on the perception of differences between cold permanent and heat perm showed that 87.4 % of the respondents knew about the differences between cold permanent and heat perm, and that 94.6 % believe that heat perm have customer satisfaction than regular ones. In terms of the perception that the hair damage of a heat perm is higher than that of cold perm, 36.0 % of the total respondents said yes, indicating that the damage of a heat perm is not much different from that much different. Among regular and heat perm, 94.6 % of heat perm were found to be the most preferred ones. The above results indicate that a group of experts are aware of the differences in heat perm, which are highly satisfactory to customers, and that these results are consistent with the consumer satisfaction levels studied from the preceding. It is thought to be a meaningful proposal to combine the opinions of professional groups in the field and in the educational front and use them as training materials for hairdressers and marketing directions to suit their customers needs.

Vol.1 No.3

The objective of this study is to provide cosmetologists with the basic materials for them to satisfy their customers when performing heat permanent wave and use efficiently in real cosmetic service industry. For experiment, it evaluated moisture content of hair each differently by 0g, 1g, 2g, 3g and 4g when carrying out the heat permanent wave on healthy hair, damaged hair and then took the pictures of results by digital camera in order to compare and observe each wave types. It observed the sections of the fine structure of healthy hair and damaged hair respectively with transmission electronic microscope, based on the most superior experiment group in the formation of wave. In the result of comparison of wave type, it showed that the healthy hair with moisture content of 2g and damaged hair with moisture content of 3g made the most equal and elastic curls. Seeing the general wave type, waves of healthy hair was bigger than the ones of damaged hair but a little inferior than the damaged hair in curl formation. In other words, damaged hair resulted faster formation of wave and narrow style as damaged hair is easier than healthy hair in the change of type. It compared and observed healthy hair control group and experiment group of healthy hair with moisture content of 2g so as to investigate the change of hair type and got the result that the heat damaged hair cuticle more than hair cortex and it signally damaged hair cortex as well as hair cuticle in the experiment of damaged hair control group with chemical permanent wave experience and damaged hair group with moisture content of 3g. Chemical treatment generally damaged hair. Under consideration of this aspect, the ultimate goal of this thesis is to minimize the damage of hair caused by chemical treatment and get the satisfaction on the hair style. Therefore, this study gives suggestions that beauticians in hair shops should perform permanent with recognition of proper moisture content to each hair condition to reduce the damage on hair by overheat in dried hair status.

Vol.18 No.3

This study attempted to investigate the hair-protection effects of Lens culinaris extract by the time and amount of its application during a heat perm through its great antioxidant activities. For this, testees were divided into two groups: P group (5%, 10% and 15% Lens culinaris extract added to the reducing agent) and J group (5%, 10% and 15% Lens culinaris extract added to the oxidant). Then, the following was analyzed with the hair: tensile strength, thickness, cuticle, components and ingredients. The results found the following: In terms of tensile strength, the P1 group was the highest with 153.19 ± 23.00, followed by the J1 group (124.80 ± 21.71). In hair thickness, the P2 group was 0.038 ± 0.009 mm while the J1 group showed results (0.040 ± 0.003mm) closest to healthy hair. In cuticle conditions, P1 showed 432.660 nm ± 12.283 while J1 was 427.880 ± 12.051 nm. In J1, some slight cuticle degradation and exfoliation were observed. Compared to the control group, however, J1 showed a relatively consistent cuticle and stable pattern. According to analysis of components, J1 was the highest with 9.17 Wt% while P1 was 9.13 Wt% in sulfur contents, which means that Lens culinaris extract makes up for sulfur. The said results prove that an addition of Lens culinaris extract during digital perms would reduce hair damage. In particular, the addition of 5% Lens culinaris extract to the oxidant appears to be more effective in hair protection.
