내부적 이야기에 기저한 질적 연구에 관한 실천신학적 접근: 자전적 민속지학 연구의 예

The practice of telling our story matters. The purpose of practical theology is to provide a theological framework within which our stories of lives related to church and society can be reflected in the truthfulness of the gospel and the story of the faithfulness of God. Drawing from the understanding narrative identity, firstly, this paper explores the meaning of ‘Christian practice’ and emphasizes that practical theology is a theological reflection as practical theologians need to become reflexive and consider hidden dimensions of a particular situation while recognizing the complexity of understanding the situation in using social scientific methods. One of the problems in conversations between finding meaning in our story and faithful performance of the gospel is that how we locate ourselves in this dialogue without relinquishing Christian belief while participating in the truthfulness of the gospel story reflecting on our account. In this discussion, the author suggests the importance of theological priority and reflexivity in theological reflection. As the interpretive practice, an introspective narrative approach to qualitative research method is proposed to make sense of one’s findings and takes both prophetic and therapeutic dimensions seriously. Finally, this paper offers an example of aligning autoethnography into theological reflection as a pastoral practice which considers relationally ethical and reflexive moments. 실천신학의 가장 중요한 과제는 예수를 믿고 따르는 삶이라는 독특한 이야기적 정체성을 가진 기독교인들이 어떻게 하면 기독교 교회와 개인의 삶 속에서 복음을 실천하며, 일상 가운데 바르게 생각할 수 있는 틀을 가지고, 이를 냉철히 숙고하도록 돕느냐에 달려있다. 저자는 먼저 이야기적 정체성의 의미를 살핀다. 그리고 실천신학의 연구 방법론적인 면에 대해 논의하며, ‘실천’의 의미를 재점검한다. 실천신학적 논리의 틀은 실천의 의미를 믿음과 기독교의 전통을 고수하는 데 그치지 않고, 예수의 복음과 교회의 비전에 참여하며, 소통하는 과정이 있어야 한다. 이 과정 안에 기독교의 전통과 교리를 뒷받침하면서도 또한 한 인간으로서 우리가 겪는 삶의 이야기를 어떻게 하면 기독교의 복음과 하나님의 이야기 속에서 그 의미를 찾아 신학적인 대화로 이끌 것인가 하는 것이 우리의 오랜 숙제이다. 이에 대해 저자는 이야기적 정체성과 해석학적 성향에 대해서 숙고하면서, 사회과학적 연구방법을 사용하는 데에 있어서 신학적 성찰과 신학적 우선순위가 있어야 함에 대해 논한다. 더 나아가 질적 연구의 내부적인 이야기적 접근의 한 예로 자전적 민속지학 연구를 소개한다. 이의 주된 요지는 자전적 민속지학 연구 모델을 통해 연구자가 내부적 입장에서 특정한 현실을 관찰하고 연구할 때, 연구자의 삶에 내재한 타인과의 관계성을 깊이 인식하고, 연구자가 이 모델을 사용하는 과정에서 연구 결과가 나오기까지는 반성(Reflexivity)하는 태도를 잃지 않고, 관계적인 윤리(Relational ethics of care)를 고려해야 한다는 점이다. 이 두 영역은 실천신학과 사회과학 연구방법을 접목하는데 중요한 의식적 태도이다. 또한, 이 연구 모델을 사용할 때 실천신학자는 자신의 이야기를 구연하는 것처럼 소통할 수 있어야 한다.

Theological and Educational Approaches to Differing Perspectives of the Bible in a Faith Community: A Case Study

연구의 목적은 한 신앙 공동체 안에서 현존하는 회중들의 성서 이해와 관점을 묘사하고, 하나님 나라 백성의 다양한 관점이 함께 존재할 수 있는 신학적이고 교육학적인 접근과 교육 방법을 제언하는 것이다. 리차드 오스머가 제시한 실천 신학적 해석적 틀을 기반으로 한 신앙공동체의 사례 연구를 중심으로 연구될 것이다. 논문은 네 가지의 단계로 이루어진다. 먼저 신앙 공동체의 성서 이해와 관점을 상세하게 묘사하기 위한 해석적 방법론을 설명할 것이며, 두 번째는 신앙 공동체의 성서와 신앙에 대한 다양한 이해, 관점, 인식을 다룰 것이다. 세 번째 단계는 신앙공동체 구성원이 가진 성서와 신앙의 관점이 어떻게 형성된 것인지를 고찰하며, 네 번째에서는 신앙공동체에서 다양한 관점을 이해할 수 있는 신학적 관점과 교육학적인 접근을 제시할 것이다. 마지막 단계에서는 신앙의 공동체 안에서 다양한 관점을 가진 회중이 함께 공존할 수 있는 교육학적인 방법을 제언할 것이다. The purpose of this study is to describe the understandings and perspectives of the Bible that are present within a faith community, to consider theological and educational perspectives that will guide people within a faith community to coexist harmoniously, and to provide educational methods that will help achieve this goal. Richard Osmer’s model of practical theological interpretation serves as a framework for this study and is explained in the first section of this article. In the second section, diverse beliefs and understandings of the Bible in a faith community are described via a case study. In the third section, the author takes into account congregants’ different religious experiences and analyzes why they have come to have various perspectives of the Bible. The fourth section proposes theological perspectives and a pedagogical model as approaches to increasing understanding of diverse beliefs within a faith community. Finally, this article provides three educational methods to help people with diverse perspectives exist together harmoniously within a faith community.

기독교인의 혼외관계에 대한 목회상담학적 성찰

The experiences of extra-marital relations have increased in Christian families even though they are clearly defined as deadly sin by the Christianity. This study purports to offer practical wisdom to pastoral counselors dealing with this problem on the basis of pastoral theological reflections. As for the research design and methods, the phenomenological approach and the revised critical correlational approach were employed for the analysis of real experiences and for the theological reflections, respectively. To implement the qualitative research, 14 participants were selected for a series of in-depth interviews, and their authentic experiences were analysed as the basic resources for theological reflections. Not only the critical dialogues among the interdisciplinary multi-perspectives on extra-marital relations but also the relevant social analysis of family crisis in the post-modem society were included in the reflection procedure. Through the theological reflections, this study reaches the conclusion that the roles of Christian churches and pastoral counselors in resolving the problem of extra-marital relations should be clearly differentiated. The author argues that while the role of Church is to proclaim the sin of extra-marital relations and to educate people on their vulnerability to the temptations, the role of pastoral counselors is to accept those who fall into the extra-marital relations without any criticism and lead them to self confession and ultimately to salvation. The theoretical as well as practical implications of this study is that the pastoral counseling of extra-marital relations should be ultimately a spiritual process and the pastoral counselors should examine themselves whether they are prepared for this process; they should be equipped not only with healthy Christian ethical value system but also with well-balanced perspectives and the practical knowledges on the issue.
