본고는 전영택의 중편소설 <생명의 봄>을 대상으로, 식민지 근대 공간에 재현된 스페인 독감의 의료문화사적 고찰을 목적으로 한다. 이로써 문학사와 의료문화사의 융합적 연구가 필요함을 제기하고자 한다. <생명의 봄>의 분석을 통해서, 1919년, 식민지 근대 도시 평양의 교회, 감옥, 병원, 학교, 가정, 역, 등이 사람들을 밀집 수용함으로써, 오히려 감염의 온상으로 작용하였고, 그 어느 곳도 위생수칙을제대로 지키지 않았다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 즉, <생명의 봄>을 통해, 우리는 식민지 조선의 근대 공간들이 팬데믹에 매우 취약했을 뿐 아니라 한결같이 감염을 가속화시키는 데 기여했다는 사실을 발견할 수 있다. <생명의 봄>은 스페인독감이라는 팬데믹 상황을 배경으로 당시의 의료 현실을 고발하고있다는 점에서 주목할 만하다. 당시의 병원은 제대로 된 방역 조치를 취하지 못하고 있었으며, 의료진의 전문성도 부족했다. <생명의 봄>은 스페인독감 2차 대유행 시기의 의료 현실을 재현함으로써, 한국근현대의료문화사에서 스페인독감이 차지하는 위상을 정립하는 데 기여할 수 있을 것이라고 생각한다. The purpose of this paper is to examine the medical and cultural history of the Spanish flu reproduced in colonial modern space, focusing on Jeon Young-taek's novel <Spring of Life>. With this, we would like to raise the need for convergent research on literary history and medical cultural history. Through the analysis of <Spring of Life>, in 1919, churches, prisons, hospitals, schools, homes, stations, etc. in the modern colonial city of Pyongyang crowded people and served as hotbeds of infection. It was clear that hygiene rules were not properly followed. In other words, through <Spring of Life>, we can discover that the modern spaces of colonial Joseon were not only very vulnerable to the pandemic, but also consistently contributed to accelerating infection. <Spring of Life> is noteworthy in that it exposes the medical reality of the time against the backdrop of the Spanish flu pandemic. The hospital at the time was unable to take proper quarantine measures, and the medical staff lacked expertise. I believe that <Spring of Life> will be able to contribute to establishing the status of the Spanish flu in the cultural history of modern and contemporary Korean medicine by reproducing the medical reality during the second Spanish flu pandemic.

필리핀 스페인 식민지 양식 바하이 나 바토(Bahay na bato)의 버내큘러 건축 특성에 관한 연구

Philippines, having the unique combination between its traditional and vernacular culture and European culture during colonization by Spain over three hundred years, shows the variations of style and scale in domestic architectures. Bahay na bato, one of the typical house of recent stone house in Philippines, has been completed referring traditional bahay kubo and Spanish stone built house, adapting vernacular principles in traditional house and new Spanish culture and life styles. Especially, vernacular for climates, earthquakes, social and cultural conditions, environment and materials in traditional bahay kubo still alive in bahay na bato mingled with spanish architectural technology and culture. This study place emphasis on the vernacular characteristics in bahay na bato by considering the climate control method in traditional house and Spanish influences on Philippines house.
