This experiment was carried out to select white asparagus varieties suitable for shading culture in greenhouse. Eight white and one green varieties were tested. Seeds were sown in 72-cell trays in a glasshouse on 24 Dec. 2008 and the seedlings were transplanted in a P.E house on 22 May 2009. Planting distances were 30 cm apart in araw and 125 cm between the raws. For white asparagus production, small tunnel (210 cm × 160 cm) was establishedinside the P.E house, and covered with black and white P.E film (0.1 mm) on 5 March 2010. Days to sprouting took 5days in ‘Ravel’ variety and took 16 to 18 days in ‘Backlim’, ‘Horlim’, ‘Herkolim’ varieties. The number of spearwas highest in ‘Ravel’ with 6 and lowest in ‘Backlim’ with 3.7. The spear weight was heaviest in ‘Herkolim’ with25.6 g and lightest in ‘Ravel’ with 15.6 g. The highest total yield was in ‘Herkolim’ with 296 kg/10a, followed by‘Super welcome’ with 275 kg/10a and lowest in ‘Rapsody’ with 176 kg/10a. Marketable yields in ‘Super welcome’and ‘Herkolim’ were 241 kg/10a and 239 kg/10a, respectively, and the yield was lowest in ‘Rapsody’ with 139 kg/10a. The L grade (over 20 g of spear weight) was highest in ‘Herkolim’. Accordingly, ‘Herkolim’ was the most suitablewhite asparagus variety among the tested varieties for shading cultivation in greenhouse. 본 시험은 차광재배 방법에 의한 화이트 아스파라거스생산시 적 품종선발을 위하여 수행되었다. 시험품종은화이트 품종 ‘Backlim’ 등 8품종과 그린품종 ‘Super welcome’, 총 9품종 이용하였다. 2008년 12월 24일 72공 플러그트레이에 파종하여 유리온실에서 관리하였으며,2009년 5월 24일 P.E하우스에 140 × 30cm의 재식거리로정식하였다. 화이트 아스파라거스 생산을 위하여 2010년3월 5일 P.E하우스 내에 폭 210cm, 높이 160cm의 소형터널을 만들고 흑백필름을 이용하여 차광을 하였다. 맹아소요일은 ‘Ravel’ 품종에서 5일로 가장 빨랐고 ‘Backlim’,‘Horlim’, ‘Herkolim’ 품종에서 16~18일로 늦었다. 평균수확 경수는 ‘Ravel’ 품종에서 6.0개로 가장 많았으며‘Backlim’ 품종에서 3.7개로 가장 적었다. 평균 순중은‘Herkolim’ 품종에서 25.6g으로 가장 무거웠으며 ‘Ravel’품종에서 15.6g으로 가장 가벼웠다. 10a당 총 수량은‘Herkolim’ 품종에서 296kg으로 가장 많았으며 다음이‘Super welcome’ 품종으로 275kg이었고 ‘Rapsody’ 품종에서 176kg으로 가장 적었다. 상품수량은 ‘Super welcome’품종과 ‘Herkolim’ 품종에서 각각 241kg, 239kg으로 많았고, ‘Rapsody’ 품종에서 139kg으로 가장 적었다. 또한L급 이상의 비율도 ‘Herkolim’ 품종에서 가장 많았다. 이상의 결과 상품수량이 많았던 ‘Herkolim’ 품종이 차광재배에 의한 화이트 아스파라거스를 생산할 경우 가장유망한 품종으로 생각되었다.
