중국 조선족은 중화인민공화국의 공민인 동시에, 조선족이라는 이중정체성을 지니고 있다. 이러한 이중정체성은 이 연구가 실시한 조선족 유학생들의 의식조사에서도 나타난다. 이들은 한국생활을 통하여 ‘중국의 조선족’임을 자각하게 되었다. 최근 국가와 민족에 대한 조선족 젊은이들의 사고가 다양화하면서, ‘세계시민’의 의식이 보이기도 한다. 조선족 젊은이들은 한반도의 통일에 대해서는 ‘필요한 것’으로 인정하면서도, 주변 강대국들의 국제적 역학관계 등으로 그 예측이 어렵다는 점을 지적한다. 한국과 중국 조선족 사회의 공식적인 만남이 20년이 되었다. 양자의 만남은 시행착오의 연속이었으나, 한반도의 통일과정에 긍정적인 역할을 하였다고 평가할 수 있다. 한국에게는 ‘몸의 통일’은 물론, ‘마음의 통일’이 얼마나 어려운지 실감할 수 있게 하였다. 그동안 남한과 북한의 만남은 중국 조선족 사회의 존재로 인하여 크게 활성화되었다. 연변을 중심으로 한 조선족 사회는 남북한 사이의 충격을 완화시켜 주는 완충지대였다고 할 수 있다. 동아시아의 미래를 바라보면서, 우리는 한반도가 통일이 되고 ‘다국적 민족공동체’가 이루어지려면, 조선족을 비롯한 재외동포들의 상이한 역사적 경험을 존중하면서, 중국과 한반도, 일본과 한반도 사이의 문화전환기능을 할 수 있는 이들의 존재를 적극 활용해야 할 것이다. Chosunjok(Korean minority in China) has a dual identity as Chinese citizen and ethnic Korean. Chosunjok students living in South Korea have been strengthening this dual identity through their experiences there. They are very positive for the unification of the Korean peninsula, but do have a clear vision on the unification issue. The meeting of South Korea and Chosunjok during the last two decades was a continuation of trial and error. South Korea understood that the process of unification of the Korean peninsula would be very difficult. The existence of Chosunjok community in China have given a great impetus to North-South reconciliation. Yanbian has been a meeting place and buffer zone of two Koreas. Chosunjok will play an important role in the future process of forming multi-national ethnic community and East Asian Community.

This paper has the purpose of establishing the construct of global citizenship and analyzing the variables affecting on the level of global citizenship. The paper tried to find the construct of global citizenship by both theoretical background and empirical factor analysis, and to explain the features which can be related to the level of global citizenship. For the survey, 1,091 students were sampled from secondary schools and a university. The questionnaire used in the survey included 25 items which had the format of 5 point likert scale. The questionnaire consisted of 4 factors(``general citizenship``, ``national identity``, ``multinationalism``, ``global community concept``). The result showed that the four factors were appropriate for constructing global citizenship. Among the four factors, the level of ``global community concept`` was lowest, while the level of ``general citizenship`` was highest. In addition, it was found that the experience of learning about global civil society and the degree of understanding the meaning of global civil society were related to the level of global citizenship.
