      • 교회음악의 정체성에 관한 소고

        오늘날의 교회음악에 대한 정의들 대부분은 교회음악이 가지고 있는 매우 다양한 내용과 형식을 포괄한다는 면에서 타당해 보인다. 그러나 그 내용이 과도하게 포괄적이어서 교회음악의 정체성 확립이나 추구해야 할 방향성을 분명하게 제시하지 못하고 있다는 문제를 가지고 있으며, 이것은 서로 다른 음악적 배경을 가진 사람들 사이에서 반목과 대립의 단초가 되고 있는 것이 현실이다. 이에, 본 논문에서는 교회음악 정체성 확립의 근본적인 토대가 될 수 있는 교회음악의 정의는 무엇인지 탐구하고자 한다. 이를 위해, 먼저는 다원화된 패러다임이 공존하는 시대적 상황 속에서 교회음악의 정체성 부재가 가져온 문제들을 살펴보고, 이에 대한 현실적인 대안을 마련하기 위하여 찬양의 본질적인 의미는 무엇인지, 그리고 교회음악의 정의에 포함되어야 할 구체적인 내용은 무엇인지에 관하여 논의할 것이다. Most of the definitions of today``s church music seem to have validity in that the definitions embrace a wide variety of diverse contents and forms of church music. However, the contents are so excessively comprehensive that such definitions have a problem resulting from the failure to clearly suggest the establishment of identity of church music, or directivity for church music to pursue, and such an aspect works actually as the beginning of enmity and conflict between the people having separate musical backgrounds. Hereupon, this paper is aimed at seeking what the definition of church music, which could become a basic foundation of the establishment of identity of church music, really is. For this purpose, first, this paper is going to look into the problems caused by the absence of identity of church music in circumstances of the times when the multi-layered paradigms are co-existent, and discuss ``what is the essential meaning of a praise, and what are the concrete contents that should be included in the definition of church music`` in order to make realistic alternative ways to cope with the problems.

      • 관계 회복을 위한 도구로서의 교회음악 -대상관계이론의 관점으로-

        Music and humans establish a relationship as music affects humans and humans are influenced through music. Church music also relates with humans and affects a variety of areas including human behavior and surroundings. Church music, which has relationship with humans, takes shape in relationships between humans and God. Therefore, in this paper, the role of church music in a one-to-one relationship between humans and God, and the relationships that church music holds are discussed based on the objects relations theory of psychology. In detail, church music is examined as a concept such as a transitional phenomenon of object relations theory, and the significance of the church music that acts as a tool in the process of restoring the ‘essential relationship’ between humans and God through Jesus Christ is discussed. The use of church music as a means of restoring relationships will play a part in saving spiritual lives and also contribute to finding the direction that church music should pursue for its true definition and value in the future.

      • 한국교회 예배음악의 갱신 방안 연구 -루터·칼빈·웨슬리의 회중찬송을 중심으로-

        Based on congregational hymns of Martin Luther, Jean Calvin, and John Wesley, this thesis concerns renewal methods of worship music in Korean churches. This study revolved around Luther, Calvin, and Wesley’s life, theology, worship theology and worship music. In this thesis I also analyzed congregational hymns of Luther, Calvin, and Wesley from 3 different angles that are theology, worship theology and worship music. The purpose of this study is to investigate strong points used in the congregational hymns of Martin Luther, Jean Calvin, and John Wesley in order to apply to the worship music in the present Korean churches. I pointed out the problems expressed by the Korean Church service music as follows. First, there is lack of worship music which directly worships and praises God, who is the subject of worship. Second, unfortunately it is a difficult problem that all ages sing together to God due to the different preferences of music style. Third, selection songs without church calendar is another issue. Fourth, because of insufficient education, many worship songs without theology are released. Fifth, there are not enough professional church musicians. Now more than ever, it is vital that Korean Church should establish what to sing during the service. Therefore, to provide ways of renewing Korean Church worship music, I studied on congregational hymns based on theology of Martin Luther, Jean Calvin, and John Wesley. And I am sure that this study will provide some ways for renewing Korean Church worship music.

      • 국악찬양 콘텐츠 개발 연구 -시조 찬양을 중심으로-

        The aim of this paper is creating new contents of christian praise songs using Korean traditional vocal genre, Jeongga. The subject for the research is Sijo changyang (lit. Korean traditional Jeongga style christian praises written with Korean traditional poetry in three stanzas) currently performed at the “2 hwa 4 mok service (lit. services on the second Tuesday and the forth Thursday of every month)” by Woorisoomsori association, inc., Korean traditional cultural performance group. It could be considered that Jeongga chanyang developed as the contents of Korean traditional christian praise have the same functions as ‘Lection Divina’ has one from the perspective of theology. Therefore, Sijo chanyang could be settled down as Korean christian music genre by boosting reverential mood at the service and helping people meditate on Biblical expression deeply.

      • 경배와 찬양 예배 콘텐츠 제작을 위한 효과적인 드럼 설치방법 연구

        It is now an era of active content that an individual directly and indirectly participates in production of content rather than passively receive the contents which have been produced in the past Churches also join the era of active content. They positively introduce the content production system, then produce, consume, and distribute contents. Among them, the number of churches that produce worship and worship services as content has been on the rise in recent years, which are creating content with great care in video and sound. This is because digital technologies have enabled it easy and affordable to create contents. Drum is a musical instrument that has a high level of sound pressure, and an even sound from a low-pitched area to a high-pitched area. For this reason, drum sounds tend to be captured through the microphones of other instruments when recording with other instruments. If recording works for several instruments are processing in one place, as each instrument has its own microphone, it is immensely difficult to capture the only sound you want owing to the interference of the sound. Therefore, it is highly important to separate drum sounds from other instruments in content production. This paper suggests four possible ways. It explains about exposed installation, acrylic drum shield, isolation drum booth, and fixed drum booth, compares the advantages and disadvantages to find out what realistic methods are. Except for exposed installation, although each method is a good way to distinguish drum sounds from other instrument sounds, the best way is to install a fixed drum booth. On the other hand, what is most realistic is that the isolation drum booth is not the perfect separation of drum sounds, still it can embody the effects like being in a small recording studio at a low cost. Through this study, we will refer to the effective contenting of drums on worship and praise services. Furthermore, an objective method will be provided once again by accumulating data through measurements.

      • 선정적 아이돌음악이 청소년에게 미치는 영향

        There has been quite a dispute on excessive body exposure and stimulating choreography of idol singers which could bring unfavorable influence to young people. These youngsters have a lot of interests on stars and because of this reason, they receive great deal of influence from the idol singers. Therefore, we can presume the lurid idol music could influence those young people's consciousness. On this study, the theory and advanced research related to teenagers are analysed. The factors influencing the sexual consciousness were evaluated through church attendance, social support, and self esteem. The purpose of this study is to analyze how these variable factors along with the sensational images could influence the sexual consciousness of the teenagers. This study suggested following, 1) The hypothesis that church attendance and social support to the yong people’s sexual consciousness with relation to the provocative mass media by the idol stars was not confirmed. But the influencial sffect on self respect was partially accepted. 2) Previous research papers reported that self esteem influenced sexual consciousness but this paper included idol image as medium factor which is the significance of this paper. 3) This study supplies significant information to parents with children of high school age or teachers considering the education to establish positive sexual consciousness of teenagers.

      • 현대예배와 찬양인도자에 관한 질적 연구

        The purpose of this study is to examine contemporary worship leaders’ thoughts for worship and worship leaders, especially praise leaders. This is to provide a basis for how contemporary worship and praise leader should be prepared by understanding the thoughts based on experiences in the worship leaders. The six worship leaders who participated in this study, insisted on three topics; praise leader, contemporary worship, and worship art. Identification of who the praise leader is, along with the relationship with the congregation, a preparation and role needed to become a praise leader, and what to consider for the ministry of praise. Contemporary worship has been described as having certain characteristics, and by listing the characteristics of the form of participating in the worship of the congregation, the congregation has highlighted that it is an actively participating worshiper, not a passive participant in simple worship. Contemporary worship emphasized the importance of worship art using various cultures, and it also included the relationship between contemporary worship and culture. Understanding the worship of worship ministers and their thoughts about praise means that they can be more practical advice for current and future worshipers and worship leaders. Also, because the participants are composed of preachers and praise leaders, we can see the difference between the role of worship and the claim of praise leader.

      • 수학이론을 적용한 음악분석에 관한 연구

        This study aims to find mathematical theories applied to music and show how they related to the music composition. The correlation between music and mathematics has been studied by many scholars. Started with understanding the relationship between the length of string and pitch by Pythagoras, the study was advanced from the connection between frequency and interval to the calculation of pure temperament and temperament. Many composition skills, which have been used from ancient times to nowadays, are basically based on mathematics like Golden Section, Fibonacci Sequence, The Axis System, Lucas Sequence, Set Theory, Stochastics and so on. Not a few composers like Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Palestrina, Bartok are known for using these theories when they compose. I’d like to expand the domain of music analysis by researching and matching the song < Rumanian Folk dances 5th movement > by Bartok, which used these composition skills and mathematics theories. This thesis has been researched with the aspect of mathematical regulations as the center, and excluded the common analysis methods. As a result, I found how Golden Section, Fibonacci Sequence and The Axis System are applied and how they relate to music composition.

      • 한국 CCM 록의 수용과 발전

        This study is aimed to analyze the cultural, theological and sociological background of Christian Contemporary Music (CCM) and to investigate the perception and application of Rock music in CCM field through the interview of CCM musicians in Korea in order to suggest the development strategy of Korean CCM. From a theological point of view, CCM has been criticized for secularity, ungodliness, vulgarity, and commercialism. However, CCM shows a positive aspect as a means of communicating the Word of God, a tool or an art that expresses God. CCM has been influenced by the genre of rock music and has partially or wholly accepted and utilized the rock genre from the beginning. Interviews of ten CCM musicians in Korea in this study proved that CCM in Korea plays a separational, integrational, transformational role in Christian music and Christian life. CCM musicians have agreed that the high quality music itself can contribute to the positive use of CCM. In order for CCM to develop as a whole in Christian culture, it would be a better strategy to culturally expand it than to make unnecessary efforts to exclude popular culture.

      • 뒤부아(Dubois)의 ≪그리스도의 마지막 일곱 말씀≫(1867)에 관한 연구 -다섯 번째 말씀-

        Dubois’ passion oratorio, The Seven Last Words of Christ, is a kind of passion music that expressed Jesus Christ’s sufferings in music. This passion music named as The Seven Last Words of Christ has been constantly composed by Schutz, Haydn and Dubois from 16 century till today. But only a few masters’ works have been studied. So the present writer has tried to have Dubois’ passion oratorio to be understood comprehensively and have this oratorio to be heard more familiar in church through the study of Dubois’ passion oratorio. This passion is composed of eight songs that are the prelude and seven Words. This work is the song for solo, duet, chorus and orchestral music. And it is written in Latin and English. The features of The fifth Wordt song are as follows : Jesus’ suffocative Word is expressed in a melody that is progressive in a two-measure sequentially. On the other hand, the chorus of a crowd is sustained long and continuously. The furious mental state of a crowd is expressed in a regular dotted rhythm, tremolo and sequence. In the period of Baroque, there were various methods of expressing emotions in music. Besides them, Dubois composed his passion oratorio using his unique method like chord progress and representation techniques. His excellent musical expression methods help us to understand the Biblical-Theological Significance of The Seven Words on the Cross more impressively and more deeply. Including this present study, the studies about the various passion musics make the academic extension of Christian music expand. In addition to this, thanks to these studies Christians will have opportunity to listen various genres of Christian music at church.
