The information society is dramatically diffusing at the end of the 20th century. Up to now, however, there are only a few efforts on monitoring and evaluating the society based on Christianity. This paper proposes the possible research topics on Christian perspectives to the information society. More than 40 topics are suggested.

The aim of this study was to find out the effect of hospice care intervention on the depressions manifested by mastectomy patients. 64 patients were selected who, after admitted to General Surgery Nursing Unit, of K university hospital, undergone mastectomy after diagnosis of breast cancer, from Jan 3, 1997 to April 17, 1997. Hospice care intervention was performed after finding out the spiritual needs by measuring physical, mental and spiritual needs. The collected data was computerized by use of SPSS program. For data analysis χexp(2)-text, paired t-text and ANOVA were used. The results are as follows. 1. The hypothesis of 'the degree of depressions manifested by the group who undergone and who did not undergo hospice care intervention would be different' was supported. while experimental group showed average scores 41.6±6.1, control group showed 50.9±8.2(t=-13.1, P=0.000) 2. The hypothesis of 'the pre and post experimental depression severity according to general characteristics of the group who undergone hospice care intervention would be different' was supported. General characteristics of experimental group (age, marital status, education, family member, housing, vocation, religion, attitude could be different toward the future, the effect of religion on own life, recognition of disease, therapeutic method, pain recognition) showed statistical significance(P= 0.000). Pain degree showed partially significance(P=0.04), so the hypothesis was supported. 3. The hypothesis of 'the pre and post experimental depression severity on each items between the group who undergone hospice care intervention would be different' was partially supported. As for items 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 17, 18, 20 showed significant differences(p=0.05). Recommendation 1. Experimental study useing hospice care intervention should be performed not only mastectomy patients but also to other cancer patients. 2. For the purpose of alleviation depressive mastectomy patients, hospice care intervention should be applied on clinical nursing practice.
Protestant Church and the Non-Religious Mode of Nation-Building in Colonial Korea

이 연구는 제도 종교가 민족 형성과정에서 비종교적 양식을 사용하도록 유도하는 조건들을 확인하려고 시도한다. 이를 위해 일제시대 한국 개신 교회를 한 실증적 경우로 연구한다. 여기서 관심을 부른 개신 교회는 당시 가장 대표적인 교단이었던 장로교와 감리교를 포함한 것에 국한한다. 관련문헌에 따르면, 교단신학, 지도력 구조와 국가정책 등이 주요 조건으로 대두된다. 한국에서 신학과 교단 간의 동일시적 관계로 인해, 신학적 영향은 교단적 차원에서 뤼그레션 모델로 검증된다. 그리고 지도력 구조와 국가 정책의 영향은 민족전체적 차원에서 타임시리즈 뤼그레션 모델로 조사된다. 위의 분석에서 얻은 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 장로교회는 감리교회보다 비종교적 행동을 덜 일으켰다. 이는 전자가 후자보다 상대적으로 더 보수적 신학을 가짐으로 비종교적인 행동양식을 소극적으로 선택, 사용했기 때문이다. 둘째, 교단의 총회조직에서 외국 선교사에 대한 한국인의 지도력이 증대되면서 교회의 비종교적 행동이 증가되었다. 이는 한국 민족문제에 대한 한국인 지도자들의 상대적인 진보성이 교회 행동 양식의 선택에 작용하고 있음을 보여 준다. 지도력 구조 차원에서 진보적 지도력으로의 전환이 교회 조직의 급진화를 초래했던 브라질 교회와의 비교는 한국 교회는 진보적 지도력의 제도와가 교회 내에서 일어나지 않아 계속 보수적인 성격에서 머물게 됐음을 알게 한다. 세 번째, 국가 정책은 전반적으로 비종교적 행동에 큰 영향을 준 것으로 나타났다. 이는 국가 정책에 대한 종교의 대응적 행동은 제도 종교의 가치 또는 이해에 의해 간섭받고 있음을 시사한다.

In ever since Dolly the sheep was famously cloned more than two years ago, the controversy over research on human cloning takes top headline news everywhere. It sparked a worldwide debate over the moral and medical implications of cloning. The first cloning experiments, beginning in the 1890s, were exercises in artificial twinning. Ever since biologists developed technique by splitting the embryos of sea urchins, frogs, salamanders, fish and other animals, they could produce additional embryos that would develop into small but otherwise normal larvae. However for the first half of the twentieth century no one had any way of cloning. Then in 1952 there was a breakthrough. Robert Briggs and Thomas J. King in Philadelphia published a paper describing a way of transfer nucleus from an unfertilized egg cell and replacing it with a nucleus taken from another cell. However, cloning mammals remained out of reach until the early 1980s, when developmental biologists James McGrath and Davor Solter in Philadelphia cloned mice by fusing donor cells with mouse eggs. The method, with some modifications, has become the prototype for transplanting nuclei in mammals. Cloning of adult cells was performed by Wilmut and his coworkers at Roslin Institute, Edinburgh in 1997. dolly is the first living proof that a differentiated adult cell can revert to undifferentiated embryonic stage and produce a full new being. Till now, sheep in England, cows in Japan, New Zealand, and Korea, and mouse in U.S.A. are cloned. However, these achievements are shaking the whole world. Ethicists and lawmakers have been struggling with the implications of this research. Several countries including our country have banned the cloning of human beings, yet a team of scientists in Korea claimed last December that they had already taken the first step. This article will briefly review a history of several cloning experiments and current trends of legal regulations of human cloning in the world.
