In this study, fiber-optic sensor is fabricated to measure PDD of CLINAC. As a scintillating light generated by a high energy X-ray from the medical LINAC is measured using photo diode amp system, It is expected that a high-resolution, real-time fiber-optic dosimeter for medical LINAC can be developed.

This paper was reviewed on three fatally radiological accidents in San Salvador, El Salvador in 1989[1], at the Sor-Van facility, Israel in 1990[3] and in Nesvizh, Belarus[4]. The accidents happened from the facility faults; the source rack stuck owing to obstruction by cartons on the conveyor in the irradiation position or a jam in the product transport system. On entering to fit the problems, the operators bypassed the safety devices as well as did not weared the radiation badges or the alarm meter for personal monitoring. The operators were exposed to high radiation doses( 3-20 Gy) within a few minutes and developed the acute radiation syndrome, which led to death or cripple. If a defect on the facility or improvement recommended by authorities or expert group is ignored and abnormal operation continued, the resultants can be disastrous. Therefore, it is considered that the high inspection on the irradiation facility and its complementation should be made periodically and the education on the radiation safety and observance of safety procedure on entering the facility are essential for preventing the accidents.
치료용 방사선의 입사각에 따른 광섬유 방사선량계의 체렌코프 빛 측정 및 분석

In this study, we have measured scintillating light generated in a fiber-optic dosimeter by high energy photon and electron beams using a charge-coupled device. The intensity of Cerenkov lights are also measured and characterized as functions of incident angles and energies of the high energy beams from a clinical linear accelerator. To minimize or remove Cerenkov light, a simple subtraction method using a background optical fiber and wavelength discrimination method using optical filters are investigated. Also, the intensities of Cerenkov light induced by high energy photon and electron beams are compared.
성장중인 쥐에서 6년근 인삼분말의 첨가 수준이 체조성 및 에너지 대사에 미치는 영향

4주령의 Sprague-Dawley계 수킷 흰쥐 30마리를 6일 동안 고에너지 수준(45g DM·kg^(-0.75)·d^(-1))으로 급이하여 적응기를 둔 후, 24마리를 선발하여 8마리씩 3개 군으로 나누었다. 0군은 군편성후에, 그리고 5%GP군과 10%GP군은 18일 동안 각각 5%GP식이와 10%GP 식이를 고에너지 수준(45g DM·kg^(-0.75)·d^(-1))으로 급이한 후 희생하여 체성분을 분석하였다. 두 식이의 조단백질 함량은11.3 %이었고, 대사 체중(kg^(0.75))당 조단백질의 섭취량은1일 5.1 g 이었다. 5%GP군과 10%GP군의 1일 식이 섭취량은 각각 8.8 및 8.7 g이었고, 일증체량은 각각 3.4 g이었다. 그리고 두 군의 식이 요구율은 각각 2.6 g이었다. 5%GP군과 10%GP군의 대사 체중당 1일 대사에너지 섭취량은 각각 765 kJ이었고. 체지방으로 축적된 에너지는 각각 84.0 및 68.8 kJ 이었으며, 체단백질로 축적된 에너지는 각각 78.8 및 83.7kJ 이었다. 그리고 5%GP군과 10%GP군의 대사 체중당 1일 열발생량은 각각 602.2 및 612.5kJ 이었다. The 24 male rats from Sprague-Dawley were divided in three groups with 8 rats each, and the carcass composition of Group 0 was determined. The 5%GP(ginseng powder) Group and 10%GP Group fed with 5%GP diet or 10%GP diet for 18 days, respectively, then the carcass composition of each group was determined. The proteins in both diets were 11.3%. The intake of crude protein was 5.1g per metabolic body weight(kg^(0.75)). The daily feed intake of the 5%GP Group and the 10%GP Group fed 8.8 and 8.7g, respectively. The daily weight gains and feed conversions for both group were 3.4g, and 2.6g respectively. The daily ME intake of the two groups per metabolic body weight was same as 765kJ, and energy deposition of crude fat were 84.0 and 68.8kJ, and those of crude protein were 78.8 and 83.7kJ, and the daily heat productions were 602.2 and 612.5kJ, respectively.

In this study, a fiber-optic bundle sensor has been developed using water-equivalent organic scintillating fibers for photon beam measurement. Beam penumbra and percent depth doses(PDD) are measured according to the depth of the photon beam. This sensor has many advantages such as high resolution, real-time measurement and ease of calibration over conventional radiation measurement devices.

Lutein is one of potential antioxidant carotenoids with beneficial effect on health, In this study, we used tidal pool microalgae Halochlorococcum porphyrae to extract and isolate lutein in a simple step. The purity was >90% and the yield was 61.8㎍/g. Therefore, this study reports that H. porphyrae possesses a carotenoid pigment, lutein.

감마 분광 분석을 이용한 환경 시료 중 ^(226)Ra 및 ^(232)Th 방사능농도 검증

The objective of this study was to get the reliable data and to improve nuclear analytical techniques. The gypsum and soil samples was obtained from Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety(KINS), the measurement of ^(226)Ra and ^(232)Th activities were performed by gamma-ray spectrometry system consisted with a high purity germanium(HPGe) detector. Their activities showed a good agreement within the confidence intervals and were evaluated to be reliable. Therefore, the results obtained in this study can be useful for measurement of ^(226)Ra and ^(232)Th activities in the environmental sample using HPGe gamma-ray spectrometry. 본 실험은 환경방사능 분석 기술의 능력 검증과 신뢰도를 확보하기 위하여 석고와 토양 시료를 KINS로부터 제공받아 고순도 게르마늄 검출기로 구성된 감마 분광계를 이용하여 분석하였다. 분석 핵종은 석고 중 ^(226)Ra과 토양 중 ^(232)Th 감마핵종이었으며, 이들 분석 값들은 모두신뢰도 범위내의 값을 보였다. 따라서 고순도 게르마늄검출 시스템을 이용한 환경 시료 중 ^(226)Ra과 ^(232)Th 방사능 농도를 분석할 수 있는 능력을 갖출 수 있었다.

Since radioisotope was found by Curie and Bacquerel, application of radioisotopes has been developed in various fields such as nuclear power generation, nuclear bomb and industrial uses. Among them, industrial application of radioisotopes is introduced such as activation analysis, non-destructive test, mixing, liquid volumes and flow rates, wear and corrosion, chemical processing, thickness gauge, fire alarm, self lightning, sterilization, food preservation and environment.
